College Funding Center

Tangela of Houston, TX December 26, 2008

Just like others who fell victim to these people, I was sent a letter in the mail inviting me and my parent/guardian to their meeting at a motel(I think it was the Marriott). While my mother did not think she could walk around trying to find the suite the meeting was held in. See, my mom has rheumatoid arthritis in her knees, I got my aunt to come with me and she brought her daughter with her who is only one year younger than me. Since, my mom could not make the meeting they sent a representative to my home to enterview her and get any other information from her they needed for payment and to get her signature on the contract.

This was back in 2002. I still have the contracts that we signed, they were signed on February 15,2002. She agreed to pay 107.08 a month every month until I graduated high school, and she did. She didn't have to pay as much because at the time we were living on my mom's disability checks and child support, which really didn't leave us a lot of expendable cash after rent and utilities.

After we signed the contract, i think we heard from them once and never again after that. After I graduated and decided that I was going to apply for college, I went to the website they gave and what came up was a search engine not a website. So after a while I gave up, because it had been so long that I couldn't remember what I did with the papers or the card that the representative gave to us.

I figured it was hopeless. But, recently I applied to Everest online and decided to try to find these papers again and i did. Put the web address in again it took me to a different seach engine. So I decided to do a web search for College Funding Center and saw a line saying that it was a scam and that's How I came here. I just wanted to tell my story because as you can imagine It was hard enough trying to get by without having to make these payments every month. And although that money would come in really handy right about now. But, even if getting that money back is completely impossible, I would to know if it really was a scam. Then atleast I could deal with it and move on with my life.

Salwa of Ennis, TX October 17, 2007

We were invited to attend a meeting in a hotel for my child's college.  College Funding Group convinced me that I needed to use them and made payments over 1000, paid to a finance company, American Enterprises International, Inc.  I called them, and they provided me with College Funding Group's address but no phone  number. My child or I have not received information about any schools--nothing.  I want my money back with interest.
