BMG Music Club

Frank of Oxnard, CA August 25, 2006

Frank of Oxnard, CA (08/25/06)
I received a letter from a collection agency for their client, bmg/columbia house dvd's.  I called the collection agency to advise these charges did not belong to me. I have never done business with this company, never received or signed for any products of this company.  I also advised them I would call every day to complain until the situation is resolved and my name is cleared.

I was told they are to collect a debt for merchandise sent to my address.  I advised them numerous times this is not my debt and asked how they got my name and address.  I looked up bmg/ columbia house on the internet for phone numbers to no avail.  I called back to the collection agency to get a contact number but they refused to give me any information.

I am very careful about giving out personal information so how they got my name and address concerns me. I could easily pay the 42.06 but why, its not my debt.

I had joined BMG music club with an online offer. It was OK, though no great savings. I had already fulfilled my membership agreement. I received a phone call one morning and the rep told me that because I was such a good customer, the company would like to send me out 3 FREE certificates, each good for a free CD. No cost to me, no strings attached, just as a thank you. I asked a few questions looking for the catch and he assurred me that there was no catch. Finally I said OK. A few days later, I go to the website to cancel my membership. To my surprise, it states that I owe them 92!! I check my account history and see that 3 CDs had been shipped to me.

I emailed the company and they told me that these were the CDs I had chosen to purchase when the rep phoned me and gave me the buy 3 and get 3 free certificates offer. Can you believe it? He falsified the whole thing, then apparently placed 3 bogus orders of his own choosing so he could make the sale. So I wrote back to the company asking them what they would do. Fire him? I bet nothing will happen because this is just the way they do business!

Recently I answered an ad I received in the mail from BMG Music Services for 12 free cds by only paying shipping and handling.

I got four cds, paid the shipping and handling for them, and after that I placed an order online for a double disc album that I received. Evidentally I misplaced the bill because later in the mail came a bill from a creditor concerning the past due bill from BMG Music Services for 30.26. I got a money order in the amount of 31 and sent it to Penn Credit Coporation for BMG Music Services.

Then I received a bill in the mail from Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc., for the amount of 41.32.  I thought, at first, that they just reported the payment to a different creditor and added interest charges to it, but I was wrong.  To my surprise, there were two accounts in my name, and my correct address.

Now, because of their mistake, I have creditors on my back and still no answer of how this happened.

I cancelled my account in April 2006. This company sent me four parcels of Cd's that I had never asked for. I sent it back to them and they kept resending it to me. From this day, they are still sending me CD's and charging me about 161.00 for them that I have never ordered. They threatened me with collection agencys but I refuse to pay for them because as I said before, I DID NOT ORDER THEM!!! This company needs to go out of business because they are being unprofessional and they are doing this without asking me if I want them or not. I called this company three times to cancel my account and they are still sending me CD's.
