BMG Music Club

Latrice of Portsmouth, VA August 20, 2009

I just requested my credit report for general purposes and saw a collection account from BMG music service that was opened on 12/2008. I have never ordered anything from this company. I called Experian to dispute this matter and they verified it as accurate on the same day. I talked to a lady name Trish at NCS and she stated that payments was made back in 2003-2004. I requested proof and she stated their was no record of payment on file. Just general notes. I see this is a scam. I will be fighting until this is off my credit report. I am not paying for something I don't have and never heard of.

Lindsey of Johnson City, NY August 13, 2009

For 3 months I have been getting "statements" in mail that I owe them 167.77 for something I never ordered, or received. These are coming from NCS and that company can bite me! Apparently this is from over 4 years ago, I dont think so, what a scam to get me to pay them something I DO NOT owe them. I couldn't careless what it does to my credit report, I am NEVER paying them something I dont owe them!

Deandrea of Some City, MS August 8, 2009

I checked my Experian credit report today & noticed that there is a suprise collection entry on it from BMG MUSIC SERVICE CLUB/NATIONAL CREDIT SOLUTIONS stating that I owe them 248. Problem is, I don't nor have I EVER had an account with BMG Music. It says that the account was opened on 12/08 & that the balance date is 01/09. Who even buys cds this day in age?

I did some research online & noticed that this scam has happened to hundreds of people besides me! How can something just show up on your credit report without the company attempting to contact you for payment FIRST? Obviously they know that we dont owe them!

I noticed that alot of people have unsuccessfully disputed this with the credit agencies only for the collections to remain because SOMEHOW BMG is verifying them even though they're fraudulent. Therefore I haven't gone about trying to dispute anything yet. From what I've read around the web, it seems that when Experian contacts BMG/NCS with our disputes, they give BMG/NCS our current contact info in the process, then BMG begins harassing the complaintant for money that we don't even owe.

So Im hesitant about disputing it with Experian & I know that it will do no good to dispute it with BMG. I cant understand why Experian is even allowing them to ruin our credit in this way! We cant ALL be liars! Something fishy DEFINITELY has to be going on when alot of people are complaining. It OBVIOUSLY has to be some truth to what we're saying! So why hasn't anything been done yet?

I contacted the BBB a few minutes ago & am awaiting a response. I noticed on their site that there have been 1894 complaints about BMG in the last 36 months & that they have an F rating. Shouldnt that strike the credit reporting agencies as odd? I think Im just as mad at Experian as I am with BMG Music for allowing this fraud to be reported! Lowered my credit score almost drastically! I dont need this in my life as Im pretty serious about my credit!

Holli of Kingsley, MI August 7, 2009

I just checked my credit report today as I'm getting ready to buy a home. What a surprise to find a derogatory item on there from BMG, saying that I owed them over 200 and that it was in collections. I immediately called the collection agency who was no help at all. They kept asking me for the money, even though I repeatedly told her that I had not ordered anything from BMG and I wasn't going to pay it. She told me it was from 2003 and that since it was my name and address (no social security number was needed), it was my responsibility to pay it. I have disputed the charge on my Experian credit report, but that can take 30-60 days to clear. I am completely frustrated and angry that I was not even notified beforehand ... no bills, no letter, nothing!

Cary of CHARLOTTE, NC July 23, 2009

I found out by periodically checking my credit report that BMG had sold a 41 account to NCS which then tagged fee's onto this account claiming 191 was owed. I immediately disputed through Experian who reported NCS verified the debt. I then sent a validation letter to NCS, waited over 30 days and heard nothing back. I sent a second validation letter to NCS along with a complaint to the BBB and NC AG office. NCS ignored my personal validation request but did respond back through BBB with a list of CDs and an address I haven't lived at in over 11 years. When I asked for further information about where was this shipped, signed contract and delivery confirmation they closed the file with the BBB stating they didn't need to respond to it.

My Experian credit report for 2009 shows BMG/Columbia House had turned my name in to a collection agency, National Credit Solutions, on 12/08. My account has been closed for over 15 years, and it was paid in full. I never received any notification from BMG, and this alleged debt has never shown up on my credit reports before. After researching the company online, I find that many other people were turned over to the above collection agency by BMG on the same date as I was...12/08. I also found that the Better Business Bureau gave BMG an unfavorable report due to false claims regarding their customers.

Furthermore, I found the company records supposedly had been compromised, and information about former customers was taken. Several people who were turned over to National Credit Solutions said they had never even had an account with BMG. I have filed a report with the FTC and requested an investigation, and I have notified Experian that I dispute the alleged claim by BMG since it is false. I am also wondering if National Credit Solutions is somehow involved in what I can only perceive as a scam.

i was the victim of identity theft in feb 2008 but did not realize it until a collection from bmg music showed up on my credit. i am a soldier in the us army and was deployed when the alert showed up on my credit report so calling anyone was out of the question as phones were few and far between so i emailed the company. they were very courteous to me and assured me that the account in question was terminated and any further amounts owed would be terminated as well leaving me with a 0 balance and canceling the account. the problem arose when i noticed that the collection had not come off of my credit a month later and i emailed them again, and again receiving the same response, my account was terminated and all fees waived. after numerous months with a battered credit score i was becoming impatient seeing as how my redeployment was growing closer and closer.

i asked them what the status was on getting the collection off of my credit report so i could have a clean report again and kept getting the same response until about two months ago when i received an email telling me that i can rest assured that none of my information was sold to any other agencies and they retained all of my information and had terminated the account. last month i received another email from them telling me that they were no longer the creditor for my account and my information had been sold to capitol assistance group and they could no longer help me. this situation was going on for about 5 months before my account was sold to another creditor. BMG had to have purposefully been negligent with my account to keep it on record and active, continuing to destroy my credit.

i have saved many of the emails between myself and BMG including the nuerous ones that tell me my account has been terminated and all fees waived as well as emails that tell me they have sold my account to another creditor.

Iam in the process of purchasing a home. I check my credit report and "WOW" there is a colletion account for BMG/National Credit solution. I called right away and spoke with a agent. She tells me about the account and when it was open. I told her it not my account and I never even herd of ordering a cd or cds through the mail. Also I let her know at the time of the account was open I was only 16 years of age. Now who would extend credit to a 16 year old boy. Anyway she said I would have to pay it in order for this to be taken off my credit and I ofcourse refuse to. So I asked for the mailing address and or fax and told her i can validate who iam and my age. She said she couldent give me that infomation now I must wait for a letter from them. And by the way this was reported in 2002 and I never got a bill for BMG. The original bal was 48 now its 256. She must have bumped her head or was drop when she was a baby. I refuse to be a jack*** for BMG OR NATIONAL CREDIT SOLUTION.

linda of hoffman estates, IL June 29, 2009

"Dear Ms Linda...: As you know, BMG Music Service is closing its doors at the end of June. Therefore, we are unable to ship the following selections to you."

this is the message I got even though I met the deadline to order on june 23 09 and they are closing on june 30. they emailed me on 6/28 When I called they said that they could not honor my selections because they ran out even though they were on the site and will not allow me to order different ones even though they were my "FREE" selection s owned from the either buy a featured selection and get 3 free or buy one get 3 free. THUS I paid more for the selecton originally in order to get the 3 free which balances out.

"Dear Linda, As the President of BMG Music Service and yourmusic.com, I wanted to write and thank you for your business over the years. We've enjoyed bringing you a wide selection of music at great savings. I'm happy to say that we'll be able to keep doing so, because BMG Music Service will continue as yourmusic. Sincerely, S. Goldfarb President BMG Music Service and yourmusic.com"

HOWEVER< customer service at BMG stated they are a different company and will not honor our previous order with bmg even thought the e-letter they sent out made it sound as though they are just changing their name and ordering prices. I am out at least 4 free cd's that I would like honored either with the ones I selected or others. they are open 2 more days till the 30th of june but state they cannot place any more orders and that it takes 3 days after we order to know if the items are in stock

Sean of Wilmington, DE June 25, 2009

I pulled my credit since I was applying for a mortgage. Some National Credit reporting agency is claiming that I owe 159 dollars. Apparently this is for a BMG account opened nearly five years ago. I spoke with the person at NCR. I actually spoke with four of them; you give them all the info., then they put you on hold and then someone else will pick up.

It took me over an hour for something that should have takemn one minute. I never received any communication from BMG abnout anything and then this shows up on my report five years later. It is unethical and just plain wrong. Even now, the only indication that anything is on my record is because I signed up for credit monitoring.
