Wendy of Kissimmee, FL, writes (9/13/00):
I purchased a pair of Emporio Armani sunglasses on 8/22/00 for $169.60 from the Eyeglass Studio at the Florida Mall. I am not satisfied with my purchase as the frames are uncomfortable and loosen easily. They have warped and I wanted to exchange them for a different brand. The store offers no refunds but their policy states that if a customer is not satisfied with their purchase, they will "be happy to exchange them" within 30 days of purchase.
I was offered an exchange for the same brand but I wanted a different one due to the fact I was not totally happy. I was refused this option, was treated poorly by both the store manager and her superior "Gina" in their Miami corporate office. They would not give me a different pair of glasses and argued over the semantice of the store policy, clearly taped to the counter. I feel this is obvious misrepresentation.
My husband was told by "Gina" that all their customers are treated in such a rude way and that we were basically out of luck. I now own a pair of $170 sunglasses that I don't want. I was told by Yahaira Diaz that they could not be returned and exchanged because I had worn them and that they were scratched. They are in perfect condition, as witnessed by the Mall manager, and how else could I determine if I found them satisfactory if I hadn't worn them?
