Nadine of Lowellville, OH June 26, 2009

My mother in law was contacted by this company and when I told her it seemed suspicious that they wanted she asked me to look it up online. (they asked for three posted-dated checks) that's when I found these complaints. I also checked the better business bureau and low and behold.

We live in Ohio and a temporary restraining ordered was just granted YESTERDAY forbidding this company from contacting Ohio homeowners and there is also a civil suite filed by the attorney general for all of the innocent people that were duped by these people. Thank god we found in before any went to them. When I called the company and asked if they were the same ones with all the complaints on the internet Mandy told me "oh yea, that was a disgruntled ex-employee doing all of that and it's been taken care of". That's when I informed them that I am aware of the restraining order and civil law suite and she then got nasty with me.

PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAMS!!! The real goverment help on the modification loans are FREE. I found all I needed for that on the goverment website and they stress to all that there is NO CHARGE FOR THIS HELP thru the goverment.

Charles of richmond, VA June 20, 2009

Katherine of Santa Rosa, CA June 6, 2009

A telemarketer called me and said that I might qualify for a new government assistance program for struggling homeowners. I told him that I already looked into President Obama's plan and I don't qualify because my loan is not with Freddy Mac or Fanny Mae. He argued with me, telling me that my information was incorrect. He then transferred me to someone else named Michael Bates. Michael talked fast and low, I had trouble understanding him. He said that he could reduce our payments by 500 per month, that his company worked with my lender all the time, that it could all be accomplished within 3 months.

When I asked questions, or tried to, he just talked over me, he was not interested in my questions. When he stopped to take a breath, I asked him, "What's the name of your company?" and he laughed in an irritated manner, saying, "I already told you, 21st Century Legal Services. We're located in Rancho Cucamonga in Southern California, we've been voted the 2nd best company..." and into his sales pitch again. I did not like the way he refused to answer all of my questions or fully explain the program to me. I flat out told him that I was suspicious of ALL companies who "modify" loans and that several of my friends had been ripped off. He then launched into his sales pitch about 21st being voted the second best loan modification program...

I find it insulting when I'm treated like an imbecile by strangers on the phone who are trying to get me to cough up 3400 (yes, I did manage to get him to tell me how much it would cost). I find it irritating to have to wait until the salesperson pauses a microsecond to be able to get a question in, and I find it troubling that this man had so much information about me and my situation including the square footage of my house, how much I owed on it, etc.

Even so, after all my misgivings, I agreed to talk to a notary he was sending over. I thought that she or he would be able to tell me more about the program that Michael didn't. After mulling it over, I canceled my appointment. I just don't like being rushed into anything.

JOHNNY of HOUSTON, TX May 29, 2009

I was reffered by her friend called J. Romo, which is notary public in texas, to 21st century legal services by the name M. Hernandez, from california. She said that she can modify my loan into 3% to 4% 30 years fixed rate, She gave me a figure on the basi of interest rate which i could save half of my monthly ammotization. She explined to me that, their company will responsible to pay 1st 3 months maonthly payment while on process, she will be contating my bank and the process will take 30 to 90 days process.

She gave me a 15 pages form that need to filled-up, and send it to her office address in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The documents are containing also the amount that i need to pay and issue a two month pay checks for 1845 for a total of 3690. I already send the checks to her, and call her again that she will receive it in 3 days. While the document are on her way, I called her again to verify how she can able to pay mortgage, since she never ask me anything regarding my loan account, which bank, pay-off information, she even never ask me of my texas taxes, insurance etc.

after a day I try call her many times, but nobody ask answer me and even in email, nobody responding me. Finally i called my bank to hold the checks and try to retrieve my document that has all my information. Thanks God that my documents are not mailed yet and still i get it. This is just a lesson learned from my experience. To all who have information and calls for this 21st century legal assistance, please report it to the police, so that this kind of scam will not dameage anymore to any innocence regarding loan modification process.

Chris of Churubusco, IN May 28, 2009

I've just read through the other complaints about 21st Century and I can't say more than what the others have said. I too have never been able to get in touch with this infamous "Kathy" and can't reach "Richard" who called us in the first place. The scariest part of this entire process is that they (21st) said the name of our mortgage company when they called and said they were representing them in this matter and that 21st could help us. I have canceled my second check and am working with the Attorney General of Indiana and filing an official complaint. These people are preying on the innocent and desperate people of the world.

Douglas of Rocklin, CA May 26, 2009

March I was going behind on my mortgage and my property had just been listed as in foreclosure. 21st Century Legal Services began soliciting me to use the bail out and save my home. I guess I wanted to believe. March 6th they came out to my house and took copies of my loan docs and checks three 1000 dollar checks. They were supposed to suspend my account and let me know about the status of the new loan terms amount and interest rate we had previously discussed.

After hiring these people the solicitation calls never stopped and the lenders then called and I explained to them what was going on and they said we are not doing business with these people and they had never even suspended my accounts. I called them and told them the gig was up. They told me the lender wants to get us in conflict to blow the deal, Debt collectors are miss informed and often are the ones who call, and that they had 1st class letter receipts to prove contact had been made and they where fallowing all laws and making progress on my file.

I asked to get copies of all documents in my file including the proof she stated they had and gave her my fax number. Never received and all the old number extensions are messages and you can leave 40 messages in two weeks and get know response I did. I did how ever get a person claiming to be a new receptionist one day and when I explained the situation she refused to put her supervisor on the phone and hung up and they forwarded the line to a message.

I filed a complaint here w/BBB and FBI Los Angeles CA. the closest office to there address. Well they got 2 of 3 checks for 2000 total and you know maybe I could have saved my home if they hadn’t lead in the wrong direction. Plus we have been getting solicited be an enormous amount of B.S. scams since this happened at all form of contact info we had provided them.

Kamau of Burton, MI May 9, 2009

I just received a call from 21st Century Legal services and was but in contact with a man named booker. They said they could modify my loan based on financial hardship and he forwarded me to Michael. He said their company is based out of california but they functioned out of all 50 states. Michael told me that they could reduce my payments by 30 percent. They were going to sent out a notary person next week and my phone died. My conscience told me to check the internet and i found these articles that describe almost word for word the transaction I had.

cheryl of pensacola, FL May 4, 2009

this company collected money from me stating that they could get me into a 30 year fixed rate mortgage instead of an adjustable rate to make a long story short i paid the company for nothing because i negotiated my own modification they did nothing for me but take my money and kathy would not return any of my calls even after she stated she could be contacted be email and would respond because she checks them daily that was a lie she never returned any of my phone calls

when i ask to speak to a owner they would tell me that kathy was the only one available then on several other occasions i would ask for the owner of the company they stated it would be kathy this company caused me to allow for my home to go into foreclosure when i could have continued to pay my mortgage instead of taking the company advice which ruined my credit i would not advise any one to use this company or give out any of your information over the phone to no one if you cant go into the business and meet the person dont do it it is not worth the hassle and stress my credit was jacked up because of this company but thankfully i didnt lose my home

Toni of Worcester, VT April 23, 2009

I was told they could reduce my mortgage rate to 4% based on hardship under the new stimulus program. Jason then came on the phone and told me I'd need to complete an application first, send in pay stubs etc. I said that I had already requested my lender for a modification and what he could offer me that would be worth paying for. He said that my lender would only reduce my loan to 5.5% but that his lawyers would negotiate 4%. I asked if his lawyers were licensed in Vermont and if so the name of the lawyer. He gave me the name Nehmeh, which is not listed in the Vermont Secretary of States listing. When I said I wasn't comfortable giving out my social security number etc from my paystubs to some outfit that just called me on the phone he said that his program was for people with real hardship that did not care about sending out paystubs as they needed help. I said that maybe people with real hardship should be more careful about speaking with crooks. He said that he would send me an email that would describe his company. NO EMAIL ever came. Then I found all the complaints. DESPICABLE business -preying on the desperate. I am going to report them to the bar association for engaging in the unauthorized practice of law.
