Lyn of Brookline, MA October 15, 2008

Lyn of Brookline MA (10/15/08)
I submitted the request for withdrawal for my AIG annuity three weeks ago and have heard nothing since that time. I have tried to contact AIG using their 1-800 number but have been told that they are not taking calls due to heavy volume.

This is my 90-year old mother's annuity. She needs the money immediately. The Bank of America investment salesperson sold it to her 5 years ago--unethical, to say the least to tie up an 85-year old person's money for that long and to pressure her into doing so.

Harry of Union City, CA October 14, 2008

Harry of Union City CA (10/14/08)
A 5-year Annuity matured on 09/25/08 and the AIG Agent brought it to my attention. I refused to do anymore business with them and filled out a Withdrawal Request on 09/29 and hand-delivered to the agent. He stated that it would take about 10 days to get my Principal plus Interest.

However, today is 10/14 and I haven't heard anything. My 800 calls to AIG are getting disconnected because of a extremely heavy volume and their Agent at the Bank is not in and will not return my calls.

I am losing Interest - and I am not talking about a 50,000 or 100,000 Premium.

When calling the 800 number I am unable to contact anyone I get a recording of heavy volume of calls.  I have attemped to other extentions but I am always refered to the 800.

This economic delay has caused financial hardship more than needed.

I cancelled my policy during the look and See period and they have screwed around in refunding my money to me. I requested my funds and now have been informed that a check has been mailed out. It's ironic that they were wired my money, yet they mailed me or my bank a check. I have lost two months interest and will change banks over this ordeal. I wish they could be held liable for lost revenue.

Marilyn of Bethlehem, PA October 6, 2008

Marilyn of Bethlehem PA (10/06/08)
I have had an annuity with AIG for 5 years. I put the money in in 3 increments, Sept, Oct, and Jan. I sent for the 1st deposit. and have heard nothing . the second is to be due, the 29th of this month. I will also send papers at that time to send the last installment , which I will pay a penalty on. The fact that the govt. has bailed them out now, should have given them enough money to meet the demands of their customers. I have abou 16,000.00 in my IRA with them and I want it out of there. I will never invest in anything ever again that is not FDIC insured. I'm 73 years old and I hope I get the money before I die.
