In 2005 I had some CD's with Amsouth Bank come due. Dana was an officer of the bank and(she told me) an agent for AIG. She incouraged me to invest my IRA money in an anuity with AIG. Which I did. On Sept. 17 I went into RBC Bank ( which is the same bank, different name) and told Dana ( who still works there ) that I wanted to surrender my anuity. She got ahold of the local agent, Drew, and had him FAX the papers for me to sign, which was done that day, noterized and FAXed directly to AIG. I was told I would be mailed a check. So far, nothing.

I waited till Sept 29 to call Drew. He said he would check on it, but said that I should already have a check ( which is what I thought, too). It took me till today to speak to him again, although he said he would get right back to me. He said that the main office of AIG would not give him any details of what was happening with my account, that I needed to call them and gave me the 800 number. Every time I have tryed that number I have gotten a recording saying they were too busy to help me. There is no e-mail address or any way to leave a message. So what do I do?

frustration, loss of trust in big business

I have been trying to reach AIG for 15 days, they are not taking calls...So I wrote to them on Sept 15th requesting a surrender of my Annuity and as of today Sept, 30, 2008, I have heard nothing from them

Consequences?? I simply need the money I have invested in the annuity. IT is as easy as that....I know they have been having problems, but to blatenly ingore their customers, is downright terrible......We customers need help and hope that you can helpus.

I have been calling all telephone numbers that I can find for AIG. I cannot reach anyone at any of their offices. The recording says that due to the heavy amount of callers I simply cannot be connected, and then the call is terminated. Is this a way for a company to act after the government just bailed them out? Will AIG simply obscond with the money the government has loaned them as well? Because they sure aren't paying us our money.
