American Home Mortgage

Kris of Epsom, NH July 23, 2009

As with some other posters, our mortgage payments have not been correctly posted since March of 2009. I have faxed them proof of payment from my bank and they just keep sending letters that they are investigating my inquiry. Meanwhile, they keep accruing late charges and called today to tell me I owed them 700+. The woman had no idea how to handle the situation when I explained to her that this is in dispute, I've filed with the credit reporting agencies and they have proof of timely payment-she just keeps saying that I need to pay. This has been paid on time on an auto pay from my bank since day 1, and yet they keep screwing it up.

Elizabeth of Palestine, TX July 22, 2009

This company apparently has my phone number down as someone named K. A----. And I've been receiving phone calls up to 4 or 5 times a day from them trying to collect from this K. A----. I have not only asked to have my number removed and for them to stop calling 4 separate occasions, but I have also spoken to 2 supervisors and still I'm receiving phone calls. It feels like I'm being harassed by these people and I've never had any dealings with them. In fact, they're not even looking for me or my husband and they won't stop calling!

Sharon of East Northport, NY June 22, 2009

I applied for a loan modification on my mortgage and got approved, when I received my statement to pay my monthly mortgage I saw a different amount in my statement, it's a 1000 more.So I called AHMSI and asked them why I have a different amount in my statement. They said they have to force escrow my taxes because I have back taxes. I told them I've been paying my taxes for the last 6 years and I haven't had back taxes, so why all of a sudden they want to pay my taxes, I told them that the reason I had the loan modification is because I am already having a difficulty paying my monthly mortgage.

So I told the tax department from AHMSI and asked maybe there's a way that we can fix this. So she said send 2,800 and a letter stating that you want to delete the escrow, and it should be ok. So I did. I called after 3 days to see if they received the payment, they said they did, but they said instead of applying to the taxes they accidentally applied it to my monthly mortgage. So I need to send more money. I said ok, as long as it will be fixed I'll send the money. By the way I had to borrow the 2,800 that I sent them just so they will fix it.

Well I called again, they said they received the payment, but I have to wait, they said until the 19th of June, because that's the day the escrow will be deleted. I waited. I called today to confirm if the escrow was deleted, I also wanted to ask for a letter that they can send me as proof that it was deleted. The rep just told me that the request was denied and I have to escrow the taxes for the term of the loan. I almost had a heart attack.

Imagine, you are trying your best to keep your house and all they can tell you, you are denied, no explanations. Why? I sent the requirements, I sent the money, the application, and this will be for 40 years. They keep saying we're here to help you. how? by adding extra fees and charges to my monthly payments? by escrowing my taxes and adding 1000 more for me to pay every month?

There are other ways, options for AHMSI to help people not to go in foreclosure, but I guess they just don't care. If anybody can give an advice on how to deal with AHMSI, please help us. If its just me who's going to live on the street, its fine with me, but it's not just me.

I agree with everyone!! I wish we could do a class action law suite. They are not friendly and very ignorant(customer service reps.). They are not willing to help when so many other banks are. It is not right how they treat people and do not want to help customers that are having a hard time or that are struggling to make a payment. They are not willing to do anything!! This is a scam compnay. Can't get the owner's name, can't get an american without a fight! I am first time buyer and it is the worst experience of my life!

Andrew of Chester, NJ July 10, 2009

American Home MOrtgage is no longer applying payments we send in. They now show me 4 months behind!! I sent proof my checks were cashed by them but they still haven't posted them. We are VERY worried this company which filed bankruptcy 2 years ago is simply taking our money and absconding with it. Does anyone know where we can find help?????

Daniel of Berthoud, CO July 9, 2009

Mortgage payments have not been applied to my account properly since March 2009. I have not made any payments late or missed any payments. AHMSI reported that I am 2 payments behind on 5/1/09. They returned the March payment via check dated 4/29/09. I returned this payment and the normal June 2009 payment to them in June. The negative credit report has had a devastatingly negative effect: Credit card limits have been capped to present balance, credit card has been canceled by the credit card company, interest rate on one card with balance increased to 30%. AHMSI has trashed my excellent credit record. Paper and fax complaints have been sent to AHMSI and received. They claim they have 30-60 days to respond and refuse to correct THEIR mistake in a reasonable manner, even though they wasted no time in trashing my credit after they made a mistake. They are taking my money but not applying it to my mortgage account. Customer service are a bunch of foreign robots who do not listen to concerns.

dominic of plymouth meeting, PA July 8, 2009

I can no longer make my monthly mortgage payment because effective 1/1/2009 my employer cut my salary so I contacted my mortgage company (AHMSI) who told me it does participate in the Making Home Affordable modification program. After submitting my package to AHMSI, they told me my 'lender' no longer participates in the program and they were starting foreclosure proceedings. I even saw a mortgage counselor (HOPE program in Pennsylvania) who told me my package was the best they've seen, yet my mortgage company continues to foreclose and gives me bad information.

Pamela of Glendale, AZ July 8, 2009

In April of 2009 I made two payments to AHMSI in the amount of 1527.81 and 1330 as i owed the prev Mortgage coompany one amount and based on the statment i received from AHMSI for 1327.00 i paid 1330.00. Unfortunately finacial difficulties prevented me from making may and junes payment until June 24th..However i was thinking i was only the two months behind. Well thsi wonderful company decied to ADJUST my mortage payment to 1392.00 and never applied the 1330.00 to April's mortgage, making me 3 months behind. the 1330.00 is in a MISC account that per the cust serv rep in INDIA, will just sit there. Now my house is in foreclosure due to payments they have rececived but not applied...for NO REASON! Sat on the phone and was transferred to everyone for 3 hrs to try and save my house when i shouldnt be in this position. yes, i was late but if payments were applied and montly amounts werent ADJUSTED at their whim, it would never have gone to foreclosure....so i basically gave them 1330.00 for nothing..now its going to cost me 8000.00 to save it...UNBELIEVABLE

Sheryl of Colonial Beach, VA July 7, 2009

Sending our mortgage payments to AHMSI, CERTIFIED CHECK, attach payment coupons, photo copy everything, overnight to address AHMSI provides. They never apply payments correctly, lose payment, suspend payments AND make harrassing phone calls as much as twice daily to my cell phone. They never leave a message and if I do happen to get them on the phone they refuse to identify themselves when asked, they make it sound like they are calling someone they know!! Completely argumentive and will not let me give them the information they could have to investigate the problem. They are ruining our credit history by being so irresponsible and we, the cosumer are at our wits end! The harrassment, must stop. I told one of their representatives to take my phone number off their lists and stop calling me twice a day. Next, 4 days laters another rep. calls me, nasty to boot, and tells me the dispute letter that I sent in was not signed!! I never GOT a dispute letter and was NEVER told anything about a letter. Please, can you help us stop this horrible company from ruining our credit standing and stop their unethical business practices.

Wendelin of San Antonio, TX July 5, 2009

My Option One loan was sold to these idiots a few years ago. Every year they send me a coupon and statement of Escrow Shortage, which I send with payment and which they NEVER NEVER NEVER apply to the Escrow account. Several phone calls to India later, they correct the problem..then do not correct the amount of the house payment. Several phone calls later, they correct that - somewhat. THEN, when a title search was run on my home by my Credit Union, we find that AHMSI has never filed a change of Lien Holder name (Still OPTION ONE). Trying to get them to correct this has taken phone call after phone call with no results whatsoever and a request to "Kindly call back"...I want my loan away from these people! Thank God it is not a foreclosure issue.
