Brandon of Dallas TX (05/28/08) On May 23,2008 I was contacted by Rebecca Woods with American Lending Group via e-mail stating that I was pre-approved for a loan and I needed to call her with three pieces of information for final approval. I contacted her and she told me I needed to fax a copy of my drivers license, social security card and a paycheck stub. She stated that once I did that I needed to call her. I faxed over the information she requested and she told me I was approved for a loan in the amount of $8000 but due to my credit I needed to pay an insurance in the amount of $956. She faxed me my loan documents and told me to send $956 to a Dave Pytik in Toronto and to call her when complete.
I did as she asked sending the money Western Union. I then called her and she said she had received both the documents and the money and my loan should be in my bank account within 6 hours. It was never deposited. I spent all day on 5/24, 5/25, and 5/26 calling and leaving messages. No one answered the phone and no one called back. This morning 5/27 I received an e-mail from the finance department of American Lending saying I needed to pay an additional $750 and to call Rebbecca. I called her, she answered, and I told her I wanted my $956 back and she said no problem and she would transfer me to the refund department.
After several seconds the phone hung up. I have tried calling all day and leaving messages. No one will return my call or answer the phone. I also sent her and the finance department an e-mail asking for the return of my money and neither have responded. I have made reports with IC3, the FTC and Phone Busters and they all told me to make a report with the BBB.
I have bills due now and no way to pay them. I doubt the electric company and phone company will understand.
Patricia of Suisun City CA (02/26/06) I was contacted by American Lending Corporation to refinance my house. The person who handled the transaction, David Calahan, promised me that this refinance would pay off all my credit cards as well as my car. I had a 2002 RAV4 that was a lease.
The deal also included $20,000 cash so I could remodel my kitchen. When all the paperwork was done and checks issued, it turned out the the lender, Sierra Pacific Mortgage, had not called Toyota Financial Services, who held the lease on my car, to verify payoff. The result was that a check was issued which only paid off the lease but not the $7,650 still owed on the car.
When I called it to Mr. Calahan's attention, he went back to the lender who admitted "dropping the ball" but would not honor the promise Mr. Calahan made to pay off my car.
