Cashcall

Jim of Las Vegas, NV September 21, 2009

I always enjoy when a rep of the offending company comes on here and tries to defend its practices. So you say that they should read the contract? How about when you give a contract, all in English, to someone who speaks and reads only spanish? Someone who has claimed to never have received anything in writing in Spanish? Sure you may talk to them in Spanish, but then what? Then they are stuck with a crappy loan because of your deceptive practices.

Merri of San Jose, CA September 8, 2009

I took out a loan with Cash Call in 2007 to consolidate my credit card debt. My interest rate is 34%. The payback on the 10,000 loan is 144 payments, or 12 years. By making more than the monthly payment as well as extra payments, I will be able to pay it off completely by the middle of next year, thus cutting my payoff from 12 years to 4 years. I have, in the middle of this recession, been able to retain my job and that is how I have been able to do this. I know this makes me much more fortunate than a lot of people. The payments were automatic and if you wanted to make an extra amount to principle, you could call and it would be done.

With the recession, they adopted a policy in which they no longer made automatic withdrawals. If you wanted to make a payment, you now had to call. A lot of people fell into that trap and didn't make their usual monthly payment. The effect of this was that they made HUGE amounts of interest because of course, interest will accrue. I continued to make payments the first of the month by always calling and seeing that it was done. I made a payment 9-1-09 for 300.00. I printed out my payment history so I could make a correcting entry in my journal and ledger. I maintain my household accounts with a general journal and ledger. That payment was not credited. This is a deliberate attempt to defraud me by NOT crediting my payment, thus bumping up the amount they are receiving in interest. It's also an attempt to prevent me from paying off my loan so far ahead.

I emailed and faxed them and have not heard back from them. I told them that just as they tape your conversation to authorize payment (a good idea since it protects both parties) I also taped them so I can prove that the payment authorization was made on that date. Yes, it is illegal in the state of CA to tape someone without their knowledge, but the magnitude of it pales in comparison with fraud. So if they want to start comparing crimes, bring it on. I also told them that if they don't credit that payment for the 1st of the month, I'd sue them. They are closed today for the holiday, but I am calling them first thing in the morning to speak to them. I do not believe they read their email or their faxes, nor do I believe they respond to anyone. Considering their tortious collection practices, I'm not surprised. They can't send my account to collections anyway - my next payment isn't even due until 11/1/10.

Darrick of Los Angeles, CA September 4, 2009

I took a loan out with cash call and defaulted on the loan due to some finicial diffaculties. After months of harrassing calls even at my job, it was turned over to the law firm of giove & associates. They agreed to settle the account for 2436.00 which I paid in full. Yesterday I received a letter stating another law firm was taking over and I now owe a balance of 6800.00.

This company is a scam and should be put under investigation. I do not have any more money to give these people and becasue of them my credit has been destroyed. I have the letter that states my balance is 0. They need to honor that agreement.

Rhonda of waldorf, MD September 3, 2009

I got a loan through CashCall. It was difficult to pay them, however they offered me a settlement in Feb. '09 and I was making them faithfully, had six payments, until I lost my job in June, so I missed my last two payments. They will not let me make those last two payments, and are saying we can defer your payments if you send us a payment, this was sent via email in a letter, and it doesn't state the payment in the letter. So I did ask them repeatedly to make the last two payments so we can be done with each other. NOPE! LOAN SHARKS.

Also, the person who works for Cash Call, we do read the fine print however Cashcall seems to think that harassing phones are okay, and that is not in the fine print. Many times people have made the payment they borrowed 2-3 times over already, (I know I have) LOAN SHARKS! I will tell anyone do not do business with CashCall ever!

lerlene of sacramento, CA August 28, 2009

I took out a loan about 1.5 ago. I have been making payments of 216.00 per month. Now what have happen is my other have increase, while making these my rent, carloan, smud, my child's health INS all are in trouble. I have all them to make other arragements to lower the payment ot 100.00 per month. They not do that because they said that what I make I can make the 216.00 every month. So, cash call the call me 3 of 4 times everyday even after 8 clock at night.

Lynette of Waterbury, CT August 28, 2009

I recently had surgery on my left arm and have been out of work for at least eight months. I borrowed money from cash call and I have been paying them faithly. I only have one payment left because I have surgery they keeping harrassing me, call my house phone and my cell phone and calling my job.

Damian of Winnetka, CA August 27, 2009

I was laid off from my job, not able to pay some bills and so they were reported to collection agencies. In dire need of money, Cash Call was my only option to help me pay some bills. They started me with an interest rate of 96% for a 1500 loan and the only way I would get approved is by setting up automatic withdrawals if 216 from my bank account.

A few months into the agreement I was no longer able to discontinue making the payments and my bank account became overdrawn and eventually closed due to Cash Call overdrafting my account. After calling them they allowed me to discontinue making payments for 8 months while the account continues to accrues interest. The interest being accrued on the account is outrageous, is this not usary? I feel like this company is taking advantage of consumers, especially at a time when people are being laid off from their jobs and are unable to repay their loans in full. This is just horrible. I wish there was a way we could at least lower the interest rates that we are paying to this company.

jessica of las vegas, NV August 23, 2009

I'm an employee of the company. I just wanted to point a few things out. The main problem is people don't read what they sign and agree to. Cashcall will deposit up to 10,000 in your checking account with in 48 hours with interest rates any where from 10% to 115% depending on how much is borrowed and the type of loan you get. The contract is very simple to read and the total amount of interest is in big bold letter on the top. The terms are very clear.

Also there is a sentence saying "this is a high rate loan and we encourage you to try to get a loan from a different financial institution first". Come on people read before you agree. Even better pay the loan off asap there is no pre-payment penalty. I'm not even going to get into the many programs we have to help our customers who have legidimate financial problems. A lot of people can't pay then go MIA. We can't help you if we can't find you.

It's just funny how people don't complain until it's time to pay the loan back. I would NEVER get a loan like that and I work for the company. This is a very generous company to their employees and will help you'r credit if you pay it back according to terms or early.

Michelle of roanoke, VA August 21, 2009

This company, has personal loans up to 2600.00. They handle primarily everything over the phone, and occasionally on internet. They supposedly have a contract that the consumer signs electronically, however, they will not release the contract to you. I have been waiting for almost 2 years. This loan has 96% interest, i have been paying faithfully to pay off this loan, not knowing the full legality of this company.

They did not inform me of the interest accrued daily as well as monthly and if I continued to pay this loan, the total would be 9,100.00. This type of loans are considered loan sharking and this is a violation, of the usery law.

However, I have paid off the loan of which I borrowed which was 2600.00, I do not feel that I need to continue to pay this loan. the late fees are plain outrageous. I have suffered harrassing phone calls, daily, they keep calling. Cell phone, home phone. This company, I feel should reimburse me for monies I have paid in addition to the actual loan which is about 1500.00.

Robert of Queens, NY August 14, 2009

I do not understand why people signed for loans that they will not pay back. Every thing is spelled out as far as the interest rate. Make a settlement or work out some pay arrangements. This is the reason why this country is in bad shape you keep borrowing then get upset when you have to pay. There is no rip off they lend you money because you refused to shop around. You decided not to pay because you feel its criminal to pay high interest but yet you will borrow the money. Ask your self why?
