Kate of Richmond, VA November 11, 2009 I've had a CitiCard since 1999, and have always believed I was a member in good standing. A recent credit report revealed a score of over 760. So when I received notice that my Citicard APR was jumping from 11.99% to 19.99%, I chalked it up to the current market and had to go with it (I will admit, I have a higher balance than I can pay off to 'opt out' of their higher APR). Following the taxpayer bailout and later news that the recession was officially over, I contacted CitiCards to see about lowering my APR. They could neither tell me why it had been raised, nor would they lower it. Yesterday I got a letter saying that the APR is again increasing, this time to 23.99%, and again with the same ability to opt out by paying my balance and closing my account. I have used the card very seldom in the last few years (and only for plane tickets); I realize that I got myself into this by using the card, but I'm also trying to responsibly pay the card off. Exactly how does CitiCard think that this will be possible when they keep increasing rates? It's not as if the price of anything else is going down to help me compensate for the increase in the amount that I will have to pay to CitiCard. Kevin of Palm Harbor, FL November 11, 2009 I charged a3700 down payment for a bath remodel. The contractor never did any work, was unlicensed and made no effort to refund my deposit. I filed a dispute for the charge and inspite of citing fedral, state and county law, citi refused to dis allow the charges and I am now forced to go to court on my own. Rosina of endicott, NY November 11, 2009 My bill was not mailed to me within the proper time frame. The bill was due on the 16th and on the 1st the statement had not arrived. I called and was told what was due and a duplicate bill would be sent. I went ahead and mailed the amount due on the 4th. On the 6th I received what I thought was a duplicate bill but that was the bill. (That is only 10days from statement to due date) On the 10th I received the duplicate and realized the "other" duplicate was the original statement. I spoke to a manager and asked that they Citicard) give ME back a late charge. Their argument is that they can't help if the mail is late. However, if mail going to Citicard is held up, I have to pay late charges. The manager told me I could pay off my entire balance OR pay on line. Something should be done to stop this type of highway robbery. Citicard mailed that late in the event I would be late and THEN raise my interest rate AGAIN. Paul of Middle Village, NY November 11, 2009 Have had the citicard account for approximately 14 years, have never even been late in payments. Had credit lines increased by Citi and later I cut them down voluntarily, perhaps 5 years ago. I did a couple of balance transfers using their teaser rates and available credits. All of the sudden, I get a letter with "addendum" in mail stating that credit rate will go up from 17.99% to 29.99% effective December 20th. Once before other scammer credit card companies attempted to pull a fast one like that hiking my apr from single digits to 23.99% without actual reason. I haggled the balances into an AMEX card and, in the case of CITI, I put pay these scammers off and will make sure all people I know do NEVER EVER do business with CITI and I know quite many people. What they sow they will rip. Hopefully they will go broke. Linda of HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO November 10, 2009 My husband and I have paid our citicard for more than 10 years and have never been late. We received a call that our October payment was late, we put a stop check on the check and made a check by phone payment the next day. Now citicard has raised our apr to 29.9%! This is incredible, I talked to them twice and they finally agreed not to raise our apr because of our excellent payment history and then sent us a letter saying they decided to raise our apr to 29.9%. How can they agree on the phone and then do whatever they want??? I suspect they "lost" our check just to increase our apr. This is a crooked company. Thomas of New York, NY November 10, 2009 I received the famous 29+% raise on the APR and complained to the President. I received a letter from Dawn Duerkson, Presidential Communications, saying Citibank based their action on several factors which she listed. None of them referred to an excellent credit rating for many years as a "valued customer". The letter is an insult to my intelligence. Paula of Pearland, TX November 10, 2009 My WAMU card changed to Chase, within 30 days my intrest rate went from 11 to 30% Hope Chase goes under too. Now my husbands Citibank card sent a letter to inform us the intrest rate will be increasing to 24% from 11%. What everyone should do is cut up their cards. Run the crooks out of business. Allow a new bank to pick up all the good paying customers and start fresh with Good business manners. Evelyn of Middletown, DE November 10, 2009 Was contacted by customer service on October 11th stating my payment was late. Paid bill online on October 11th (included large fees). Reviewed past payment history to see how my payment was late. August payment 27th, September payment was on 12th, not late. Less than 30 days later... October 11th, payment late??? Interest rate to increase to 28.99% due to payment late unless I "opt out" and close account before December 12th which I did. Account closed on November 10th. Will also write my senator and congressmen. natalie of fayetteville, AR November 10, 2009 recieved a letter increasing my interest rate. cutomer service agent said it was due to their increase in the cost of lending. I pay my account in full monthly, so he told me the increase should not effect me. There should be a valid reason to increase a persons rate. paul of Morgantown, WV November 10, 2009 Received a letter yesterday raising my credit card APR to 29.9%. No explanation given. I have always paid on time. My funds originally went to Citi on their offer of a 0% APR for one year balance transfer. This is total usury. They are defying to the will of Congress in getting this out before Dec 1 deadline for credit card reform. Report Your Experience
