Ditech.com, which contributes a big share of General Motors' profits lately, has left a lot of angry consumers by the side of the road, including those below:
Dana of Las Vegas NV (02/10/08) I have now been a customer of ditech since December of 2003. I continually have to call them to get late fees removed from my account. I have an auto pay account. They are authorized to take money from my account on the 20th of every month. If their computer does not take the money on time they try to charge me a late fee. I am getting sick and tired of having to call them to get my money back. What can I do? I have talked to supervisors who promise it will not happen again many times. Please someone needs to address all the problems they are causing. Rose of Denver, CO February 9, 2008
Rose of Denver CO (02/09/08) I contact Ditech to request a loan using my rental, after speaking with Teresa Sala and submitting documents as she requested via FedEx and faxed. It has been a run around with all the employees; no one seems to have an answer as to what is going on with the loan. When I call I'm always told I DON'T KNOW; I informed the representatives it is their job to find out then. Until I contacted Teresa and Kimberly, I was unaware that more docs were needed. An appraisal was just done and returned for correction. When asked what is the correction, Kimberly did not know. Their left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!
This is one big hassle now, and I am also informing the BBB. For being in customer service, this is the worst service I have ever seen. I am also in customer service and shocked how they seem to not care. I've had several hours of frustration trying to get a straight answer from someone; I left a message with the manager to call back. Anita of Hedgesville, WV February 4, 2008
Anita of Hedgesville WV (02/04/08) We refinanced with Ditech in March of last year changing from a 30 to a 20 year mortgage. Forget the simple fee thing-that never happened, it cost us thousands. Now granted we bought down our points but it still cost us thousands and we had excellent credit. Then Renee in California who handled the closing played around with the closing date over and over, stating we had plenty of time to get the needed documents, yet she started the DAY before closing wanting other documents which I faxed her. Finally she emails me and tells me I need to send some paper with only 3 minutes to the deadline and she would literally run to the next floor with it. Forget about the weeks of nothing. Anyway, guess she can't run to well cause she missed the day's deadline and then informs us, Sorry but you'll have to cough up ANOTHER 200 in interest because SHE Missed THE whole CLOSING date. I was furious.
Then later we joined BI-SAVER which was great until in late August Ditech changed and uses their own so called Bi-Saver company which is actually a company called Accelerated Equity, who they never signed us up with. So instead of withdrawing BI monthly they withdrew bi-weekly, a difference you actually made about 2 extra payments per year instead of one. BUT they didn't notify us. I tried to change their withdrawal date and they said I'd have to call Bi SAver who informed me they hadn't had our account for months. I asked when the withdrawals would take place. Everytime I was given a wrong date. Finally in DEC I asked to speak to a supervisor who verified when the payment would come out of our checking account they told us 2 dates. I said I want to verify it with Another supervisor and they did, supposedly ALL taped. I spoke To Lou who was just one of probably 15 people I spoke to.
So I pay my other bills on the off weeks and guess what, Ditech hits our account 2 times in Dec on totaly the wrong dates! On top of it, I canceled a payment and made it by phone in Nov. I'm trying to get it straightened out and my bank appears to have sent back 2 intead of one. Then there's money on the priciple they don't know where it came from and they won't check with Bisaver.
We went from 10 years of NEVER MISSING a payment Or NEVER paying anything late to being a month behind from all the hundreds of fees we got hit with. Ditech REFUSES to reimburse us or acknowledge they ripped us off major! I am so confused and stressed I don't really know what to do or where to turn.
Our credit report will get hit, we've lost money, we will lose money in future trying to make up the difference, which will probably be our income tax return. They were wrong, didn't return phone calls even said They didn't Have ACCESS to their OWN RESEARCH DEPT. Our bank was great, my bank manager withdrew her Bi Saver program when she saw the mess they made of ours! Warren of Palmdale, CA December 6, 2007
Warren of Palmdale CA (12/06/07) We refinanced our home. The closing documents stated the funds would be wired to our account, and specified the date. Our first monthly payment is due a month later. Instead of wiring the money, they gave us a check. Elane at GMAC said their wiring system was broke, so they would send a certified check. It was a regular check, not cashiers, or certified. Wells Fargo bank put it on 7 business days hold. They don't count the first or last day, so it is really a 9 business days for a total of 11 days hold. During this time, our loan charged us about 500 dollars on money we didn't have. Wells Fargo said they could waive the hold fee if the check cleared. It did not clear.
We have been charged 500 dollars in interest on money that was not yet loaned to us. We intended to use that money to purchase some land, and now the sellers are impatient with us, because we have to keep pushing back the closing date. Brandy of Mishawaka, IN September 10, 2007
Brandy of Mishawaka IN (09/10/07) I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with power sliding doors. This morning, I used the button on my key fob to open the driver's side sliding door. I was in a hurry, and reached in to grab my purse from the back seat when the door was open about a foot. Next thing I knew, the door was coming back on my forearm, and the door was trying it's hardest to shut with my arm still inside! If the door hits an object, it is supposed to stop and slide back open, but sometimes it takes a bit of force to do so.
Well... so my arm is stuck, with the motor on the sliding door making loud noises trying to shut, horrible, horrible pain, I'm pushing with all my might, can't get my arm out from this crazy door. Finally, I manage to wrench my arm out, and the door shuts like nothing happened... I stare at the van, hardly believing what just happened. I have 2 small children, 2 and 5, unable to imagine what would have happened had this been one of their arms instead of mine. I'm sure it would have snapped the bones quickly, and there is no way they would have been able to pull their arm back out. What if it had been their head or neck!?!?
I now have skinny 3 inch bruises on each side of my forearm where it was stuck, and scratches higher up on my arm towards my wrist from where I pulled it out and the door scratched me.
Right after it happened I had huge indentations on my forearm from where I was pinned in the van. What a horrible idea this was on the manufacturers part to make this type of power sliding door! Are they going to wait until a child dies until they fix this problem! You can bet as soon as I get home, these power doors will be disabled for sure. And the passengers side door stops about 6 inches from closing, but will close manually.
