Consumer Complaints

This Chesapeake, Va., company sells TVs and computers for thousands more than their actual value. On top of that, they also sell jewelry. Their scheme is very similar to Blue Hippo, profiled in a ConsumerAffairs.com investigative series.

Virginia consumer protection officials have received "several hundred complaints" about them and the Better Business Bureau has even more, state officials told us. And what do the company's customers say?

Glenn of Council ID (01/10/08)
I saw the ad on TV for a computer that would help me build my credit, so I paid a down payment and 71.98 was taken out of my bank account every other week. I've paid about 1500.00 and they said there was a shipment problem so it would be another 30 days before it is shipped, however it never happend. When my wife made an attempt to call them, the account number was invalid and even using my SS#, same address on the invoice but they had no record of me at all. One lady said because I never finished paying for it, I probally was sent to the collection department. Now my wife is mad because they got our money and we got no computer, how on earth can this be? Our account was closed and we did some searching only to find we'd been scamed. They have betrayed our trust to the tv world, taken very personal information that could effect me for the rest of my life.

I ordered a computer from this company spending around 2000. I was promised a computer and everything that goes with it and have never received it. After trying to get in touch with them and finding that the websites are under construction and the phone lines are not working, I have now found out that I have been scammed. I would like to know what I need to do in order to try to receive my refund.

I paid my computer off in full, and still I have nothing.

Connie of Boulder Creek, CA January 4, 2008

Connie of Boulder Creek CA (01/04/08)
This company automatically deducted from my personal checking account each and every week a sum of 35.99 (almost 2000.00 dollars) for a computer that I still have not recieved. I started when I saw a commercial on TV for a new PC that would even inprove my credit, so I called and talked to a very nice lady. She gave me all the info and it seemed like a very good thing. So on 10/15/06 they sent me my contract, which I signed and mailed back to them. I called them many times to find out when they were going to send me my pc, and they said that it was being built for me and I would get it before Christmas. Well, it's now Jan 3rd and still no PC .I told my friend about it and she found out that it was a scam. I hope you can help me as I could really use the money they took from me.

I am a single mother living below the poverty line. I currently am homeless and some of the automatic deductions resulted in overdrafting my checking account. This resulted in a chain reaction in overdraft fees and hence my not having either a home or a computer is hand. I feel so violated, so stupid. I was simply trying to do something for myself and my son in purchasing the product I will never see. I want justice!

I ordered a laptop with 600 worth of software. I paid 2300 since November 2005 and to date I haven't received the merchandise nor a true explanation of what is really going on. The times I got through to the phone number, I was promised in 90 days. Another time I was promised 120 days. Now I can't even get in touch with anyone and I have sent threatening letters with cc to an attorney, but got no response nor reimbursement.

I would appreciate reimbursement of my money along with compensation for mental anquish and economic hardship.

I purchased a computer from Financing Alternatives Jan. 2006. They have taken monthly payments (129.00). After numerous phone calls, I was always assured my computer was on the way. It is now 2008, and I do not have a computer ;and no one answers phone calls anymore. That's why I started looking online for them and came across this site.

In regards to the scam, who can I contact to ask about getting my money refunded? Thank you for supplying this to the consumers; and please, if you can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you and have a good day.

I am a college student, and my Mary Kay business suffered to a point of no return. I needed to drop out of college until the next semester because I was unable to keep up with online classes and a full-time job.
