Conseco Sells GM Building

Greentree's troubled portfolio of mobile-home loans was sold to Conseco a few years ago, leading to the third-largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. Conseco has rid itself of Greentree as part of the bankruptcy proceeding, leaving customers in a fog, as these consumer reports show.

I bought my doublewide in 1998 and financed it with GreenTree. Since that time, even though I have paid on time and even tried to pay extra against the principal (which was applied to interest) my balance has gone up instead of down. As it appears now I will never get this mortage loan paid off. Their method of interest accounting is absolutely unlegal. Have never heard of this type of thing happening except with GreenTree

the mortgage loan will never be paid off and I am paying an extreme amount of interest to this company.

As I have read in so many of the other complaints, my situation is similar. I have had some medical issues and had to quit my previous job. I went back to school to better myself and work two part-time jobs. I have fallen behind on two months payments and I have tried to work with them on previous occasions to make an adjustment to my payments but to no avail.

Bridgette calls me at least three times a day and leaves nasty messages saying that if I don't pay now, they are sending someone out to my house. The last time I was behind on payments, I had to choose between feeding my family or paying the payment. She actually told me to go to a soup kitchen. I was so upset that I physically got sick. I am trying the best that I can to make a better life and Greentree is trying to make that impossible. I am so sick of the harassment!! Can anyone do anything to stop this horrible company?

Our moblie home loan was sold to Green Tree by CIT and since it was sold, we have caught nothing but HELL from Green Tree. I make my payments by the 31st of every month (they are due on the 18th) but, the day after the 18th of every month, they start calling me and leaving messages on my cell phone. They say,I do not need directions to the property, I already know where it is.

All I need for you to do is give me a call so that I can make sure the house is evacuated before we come and pick it up. They also threathen to take my property as well, not even realizing that the property is not tied to trailer. I am fed up with Green Tree and wondering if what they are doing is legal.

As a result of all of the harassing phone calls, I now take medicaication for stress and anixtey disorders.

We have a loan with Green Tree that they bought from BOA in Septemberand which, by the way is a small second Mtg; we are tied with money but never, nor w/BOA or Green Tree we have been delincuent, taking the option of paying before the 30th. day of the month. We pay the late fees, but always within the month due. They are harassing us by phone every single day starting the 5th day of each month, including weekends, screming that we are delincuent since the 1st. of the month and we must pay now, I see we are not alone: is a unceptable an unfair harassment intimidation practice that must be stopped.

Anoying, intimidation, depressing calls not acceptable by the normal commercial practices.

I have received lots of phone calls from GreenTree all day long. Well, one man call and said that I must give him a check by phone or he was going to process my home and come and take it away. We were 1 month behind, due to my husbands contract had run out. Then we weren't paid. Anyway, he started telling me that I had no business owning a home if we couldn't pay. He asked me if we even had a checking account. I had told him yes we have two. He said that I better give him an account number or he was going to push the repo button and come and take my home and everything in it and would take the land also.

Well...that showed me how stupid he was, because the land is not attached to the mobile home loan and neither are the contents. I told him to push the button and that he'd better be at the end of my driveway waiting to claim his mobilehome, because I was brining it out. All 3 pieces. He said that I had no way to do that and I told him TRY ME!!!You have no idea, the stuttering that went on (on his part) no mine.

Funny thing is that he called from a cell phone that was apparently issued by GreenTree. I called it back and just a recording. He's never called me back. GreenTree began calling our family and upsetting everyone. Especially my father who had Luekemia and was dying. The last thing he needed to hear was that his only daugther was going to lose her home. His only thought was where we would go with four children. I told my father that as long as we were together a tent would be just fine. We are an average family with college and work hard. But, I will not let GreenTree threaten, humiliate or make me feel as though I am not worthy of a home.

WE just keep getting nasty calls.
