Janita of Rogers, AR August 27, 2009 It is amazing the number of complaints listed about this company. My story is much the same as everyone elses. My parents bought me a Mobile Home in 1996 for 29000 and 13 years later, I still owe 23354. The contract was in my parents name, but I was making the payments. I and my parents have notified them in writing and verbally that all contact with my parents should cease and that all communication be made through myself as my parents are elderly and in bad health. I had the trailer rented out, but when those renters moved, they left the trailer unliveable. I have already spent over 2300 in repairs and expect that it will be around 5000 when I am finished. I'm a single parent, the only one working and I'm trying to make my house payment, this trailer payment along with the lot rent for the park where it sits and get it remodeled and liveable again. These people call all hours of the day and night and continue to not only call me, but to call my parents as well. My dad has a heart condition and cannot take the stress, but I am struggling to make the payments. I tell them to take my parents number off of the file. They tell me they don't have to because the contract is in their name. We sent them a power of attorney several times along with cease and disist letters to no avail. They are rude and violate numerous areas of the FDCA. Where are those class action attorneys at. Is it because we own a mobile home that we are not good enough to be represented? I have read hundreds of complaints on this site, rip-off site and others and yet not one attorney has offered to file a class action lawsuit to get these people off of our backs. What is it going to take to get some help for us individuals who are struggling? Do my parents have to die of a heart attack due to the stress they are leveraging on them before someone will step up to the plate and help us? I am really saddened by the fact that no attorney has offered to take on the challenge. Someone please help us before someone dies due to their unfair practices! maude of Mount Airy, NC August 26, 2009 I purchased a mobile home new in 1996w/ a 15 yearloan..payment amount 259.00.at first the loan was conseco an i had no problems!greentree bought the loan about 5 years in.since then nuttin but stress, harrasment, rude calls.i have early onset parkinsons an eventually couldn't deal w/ tha stress..my health deteriated, now tremendously..my friend appeared in front of there lawywer an we signed papers for them not to contact me anymore, she is the only person they re to deal w/ as of 2 years ago.but they don't have that on file(they say)so they continue to call me an i remind them bout my friend an they act like they don't have it in there computer!but yet they call her too.before she got over it..they would call an treaten if i didn't make 2 payments..they were gonna reposs!i take alot of meds an half the time don't remember all the double payments i made. greentree claims i bought this mobile home 9 years old an i have my oringinal paper from the lotwhere i purchasedit new in 96.it should be paid forin almost 2 years but there sayin 9 more cuss i bought it used which is not true.the money everymonth goes mainly to interest but different amounts each month.greentree will not explain anything.i feel like they are tryin to get over on me because of my mental stage.i juss want what i agreed too in96!an they continue to say it was bought used.i've been took to court over defaults an never got to speak myside.they call at least 4 times a week.and i constantly remind them that Amy has been makin payments for me 2 years at laest an still they have no record but theycall her.it's stressed me to the point my parkinson's is way worse!i have alot of other health prob.that i believe is brought on from this greentree stress!out of my double payment 586.38.interest/206.01..pricipal/293.47!but its not tha same every month. Carolyn of Powder Springs, GA August 25, 2009 My mobile home was repossesed a year ago because my daughter was supposed to be paying the mortgage since I let her have the home. I have been cooperating with GreenTree and trying my best to pay the difference after my home was sold. I have given them every number and address I have, so obviously I am not trying to avoid anything. Last year I had to have major back surgery which failed and had to have another one on June 2, 2009. The incision has seperated and now I have to go BACK to the hospital to have this repaired. My husband has had to take a cut in pay and I am also supporting my daughter (who is not working) and granddaughter so money is very tight. I called Pete to let him know that I couldn't make the payment until my next pay day which will be Sept. 4th. He was very rude (said I yelled at him which wasn't true) and said that payment MUST be made every month and that he was going to start proceedings immediately. robin of lucedale, MS August 25, 2009 We originally bought our man home throuhg conseco w high interest rate and was told it could be refinanced after 2 years by then they sold it out to green tree which green tree want let you refinance or let someone else take over note so I have been stuck.. Also when it was delivered it was dropped and floors never been right n crackd sheet rock i tried everything even trying to get fire marshall help w no sucess... deborah of JASPER , AL August 24, 2009 I financed a trailer about 8 yrs ago financing 15,000 dollars. I now owe 19,400 dollars. I ask how I could owe more than what I financed and one of the phone people said she could tell me pay off.. The pay off was 19.900.00 How could you owe more on pay off than on the reg princepal.. Can anyone help? My husband and I live off his disability is there any way out... Karen of dallas, GA August 20, 2009 Over 20 years ago I had a mobile home repo. (1985 aprox.) due being laid off. I have sence moved to another state and until aprox.Oct 2002 I had not heard form the company not one time by mail, phone or any other means, until I received a letter stating I owed X number of dollars, it was about 2 months of being 20 years. A few month ago I discovered they have place in on my credit report for the third time, each a 7 yr duration. When I reveived the letter I contacted a law gorup, which informed me not to respond, there are legal limits in the state where the repo took place and the state where i currently live. They also questioned how they found out where I currently live and why after 2mthn shy of 20ys without contact now were contacting. Sence the receipt of the first letter the have switched back and fourth between collecton agencies n TX, FL, MI, NY, offering different pay off amounts and they has turned it over to a firm. pearl of Lancaster, CA August 19, 2009 WE have been trying since 4/23/09 to modified our loan I fax over all documents that was needed. While still making the payment.I was told by the the gentlemen that is handling our loan it will take 60 days. month of July I called to make payments and ask how long will it be before we hear from the company he said again 60 days, then I called August to check with him again he said that he had received a email from the modified department that all the documents I faxed over need to be current. so please send them again this green tree service had sat on my paper for 5 months know claming that we need to send new documents. poor customer service for green treen please help Cynthia of Elgin, SC August 18, 2009 We have a mobile home loan with Green Tree and have gotten behind. We received a call from Chris and he was told we would be making the payment on 08/25/09 and he demanded that we do a check by phone and we said no, we would call them on that date and make the payment. He continued to call our home 4 more times that morning (harassment). We have talked to his boss, Robert, before about this and did so again tonight. He also said that we MUST do a check by phone payment and we stated that no where in our contract does it state this and by law they cannot require us to do so. We asked to speak with his boss and he refused to allow it or to even provide a name (not the first time on this either). We told him that by the time we finishing paying off this loan, we will have paid them well over 100,000.00 so we would like to talk to his boss, again he refused and told us that our money is less than "peanuts" in the scheme of things. They continued calling our neighbors and family members after we have made payment arrangements with them. Robert has also threatened me with taking my home which I also know is illegal unless they are prepared to do so immediately but continuing to use it as a collection tool is illegal. According to the "regulations on collections" which all required to take, this is harassment and illegal. Mark of Canton, MI August 13, 2009 I have been trying to sell my mobile home, with no luck, for over a year. Ten years ago, I paid 39,000 for it. The principle is now just over 35,000. I got an offer of 10,900 and submitted a short sale request to Green Tree. I just got off the phone with the guy at Green Tree, who told me that my request was denied. The reason it was denied is because they feel they can sell it for the same amount and still be able to go after me for the balance of the account, where if they accept the 10,900 as full settlement (short sale) they wouldn't get any more money. I asked him straight out: So they'd rather I just surrender it rather than let me sell it, if I need to get out." He said, "yes." kelly of Kingsport, TN August 13, 2009 basically it the same story, not enough principal paid, too much interest. I feel that if the government can help bail out people on home mortgages, they should be able to help people out with their mobile home loans. We live in them, like people in regular home. I was told to file bankruptcy, but I really don't want to go done that path, it ruins you for so long. Thanks Kelly Report Your Experience
