i used this web site assuming it was free with the irs now i find out they took 50 percent of my return. i would never have paid 140 to do a 1040ez form. i stopped it and mailed my form but some how the I.R.S. mailed them my return money. I think it is a scam the I.R.S. should not allow this company to do business with them.

I used Smart Sources Inc to have my 2007 taxes prepared. I received a notice from the IRS that the forms were done wrong and that I needed to revise the forms. I called Smart Source and asked them to please review the forms and let me know what's wrong. They informed me that David was the tax preparer and I would have to deal with him, even though Smart Source signed the returns. They told me that David did make a mistake and I now owe the IRS 482.00. I asked them if they could please refund some of the 225.00 that I paid them as professionals to fill out my tax forms.
They told me that I would have to get him to refund my money, even though Smart Source signed my taxes, cashed my tax return and then wrote me a check with the 225.00 taken out for preparing my taxes. When I talked to David he said he didn't do anything wrong and oh well it's not my problem. He even said that I really didn't even charge you the full amount. I told him so if you would have charged me the full amount would you have done my taxes right?
I feel that David and Smart Source Inc should take responsibility and refund me the payment I paid them to prepare correct tax returns. now I have to pay a penalty and they won't take any responsibily. I have to deal with the IRS for days to correct this and pay a penalty.

I decided to do my taxes again online with this company and needed to add some information because i recieved another tax form that I wasn't expecting. So I logged on to add but since my information had been sumitted I had to call.Once I did the lady who answered the phone said it would be an additional 25 to add the information when I would do it myself but my return is in progress. So once I get that I have to send the check back with a copy of the form and 25. I don't think that is right, I 've paid them enough already and not getting much back and now I have to pay more money.
I am very disappointed not to mention the lady I spoke with wasn't clear about what I needed to do as if I knew the procedure.

The person(s) representing a tax preparation company are rude and abusive. They submit returns that are erroneous and when questioned, they correct the returns and even make errors in their corrected returns. The returns are automatically submitted before you have a chance to review them. Then, they have the gall to charge you for correcting their errors. The charges are exorbitant and you only know what those charges are after their submittal. Trying to talk to them was an ordeal last year when I had the misfortune of finding these "experts" on the internet. The guarantee for personal expert review of your return is a joke. This year I will steer clear of this company.
My state return was only 73 based on their calculations. It should have been 704. I had to submit a manual correction and did not get the rest of my return until July. My state only processes corrected income tax return after all other tax returns have been processed.
