Tracy Federal Credit Union

Justin of Lathrop, CA October 12, 2009

I am a Cal Fire employee, in 2007 due to high fire activity I was held on duty and unable to make a child support payment. I spoke with somebody and was able to mail a check for payment. Before the check was received, Child support placed a levy on my bank account. This happened in october of 2007. I notified child support and told them i had already mailed a check, and that they needed to release the levy so i could have access to my bank account.

Child support said that they had mailed a letter to Tracy Federal Credit Union with instructions on how to handle the situation. I have a copy of the letter that was mailed to Tracy Federal Credit Union and it says to hold my money for 10 days, forward the money to child support, and remove the levy from my bank account. After dealing with the California Department of Child Support and the Tracy Federal Credit Union for approximately 4 months, the situation was cleared up. Both institutions were placing the blame on each other. Tracy Federal Credit Union released the hold on my bank account and sent the money to Child Support.

Another issue than arose, I was already current with my child support balance. The remainder of the money in my bank account was sent to child support when it was no longer owed. I then had to wait for child support to refund money that they now owed me. I was refunded two checks in February of 2008. On my credit report it shows that I have a late payment child support payment in February of 2008. This cannot be possible because child support owed me money at that time.

I also am showing another late child support payment i in June of 2008. This is also not possible because my child support payment is automatically deducted from my payroll check. I have all receipts for checks refunded to me, and the letter that was initially mailed to the Tracy Federal Credit Union.

I recently bought a home, and the loan almost did not go through because of my credit report. I was also unable to use my bank account for over 4 months because of the levy placed by San Joaquin County Child Support, and the mistakes made by the Tracy Federal Credit Union. I was forced to cash checks at local liquor stores, and carry thousands of dollars on my person. I was charged more than 70.00 for some of the checks that I had cashed. This was very expensive and inconvenient. I was forced to pay for money orders to pay my bills because i could no longer write checks or pay bills online with a debit card.

I was even humiliated in front of customers in the bank one day when i was confronting a clerk about the situation. She told me that it wasn't her fault that I don't pay my child support. I was also denied a car loan and a personal loan by Tracy Federal Credit Union. All of this was unnecessary. I need somebody to contact me to get this issue resolved.
