US Bank

Keith of Weston, FL August 4, 2007

Upon termination of 2004 Lexus lease, I received an itemized breakdown of the remaining contractural charges due resulting from an inspection report completed by a field representative of Datascan Field Services. The charges were as follows:

Replace Front left Goodyear tire...237
Replace Front right Goodyear tire..237
Hood/Cowl Multi CH Refinish......170.10
Left 1/4 panel 6 DT SC repair...246
Left Rear Door 3 SC Refinish....75
1 SC Refinish....................75
Right Rear door 2 SC Refinish.....75
Carpet/Mats RR Mats ST Replace.....40
Interior Trim Panel HD Liner ST.....75
Missing Cargo Cover ( Was in vehicle when returned....813.62.

For the record, I have always leased vehicles and have never had any additional charges for excess wear & tear. When I attempted to contact the bank for an explanation of these charges, I was told that It was none of my business and I had no choice but to pay. I believe these charges are over and above Excess Wear and Tear . It appears US Bank has constructed a profit center specifically to scam the consumers at lease termination.

I use to purchase coins from the US Mint which I had used my US Bank credit card. Well I cancelled that card and signed up for a different card from US Bank. Forgetting to up date my US Mint login I received notice that my orders could not be filled due to invalid credit card. I wanted to try and get my finances in order so decided not to update the site and not get any new coins for a while. So I finally have reached a point where I have very little on credit cards and had paid off my US Bank credit card.

Then to my surprise I received new coins from the US Mint. I logged on thinking my old number had been reused and someone might be getting cheated by the number being billed for something I received. I looked at my account history on the US Mint site and for at least the 6 before (that is all I checked) it showed cancel by customer I assume because of the invalid credit card. Then it showed the coins being sent. So to make sure this mistake didn't happen again I cancelled my US Mint account. Then to my surprise I receive a letter from US Bank yesterday that informed me that they had processed the US Mint order on my old card and put it on my new account. The letter also stated that the old account would soon be deleted.

When I signed up for my new credit card I was told that the old card would only be honored for so long, I am not sure but I thought it was just a couple of months. Regardless they did stop payment for orders from the US Mint. I have had my new account long enough that I have received a new card to replace the original one. I think it is wrong that I try and get out of the credit card debt and once I had the balance to zero all of a sudden they are honoring my old card requests again.

This is why so many american people are in the financial situation they are as it appears some banks will do anything to make sure they get more money from their customers. Banks or business should not be allowed to due things like this.

When I opened the account, the woman told me that any government check deposited was usable the next day. I kept a couple hundred back from my first check deposited. When I deposited my second check a couple weeks later, the trouble started! I wrote checks for my rent, utilities, etc. & sent them off. A few days later I started to receive notices that my checks were being paid but they were charging me 35.00 each for processing them.

They explained to me that for the first month they held every check you deposit (Govt. or not) for 7 days! Why didn’t they tell me this to begin with? I have since discovered that if you overdraft your account they charge you a 35.00 fee & if your account doesn’t have enough in it the next day to cover their overdraft fee they charge you another 35.00 overdraft fee & so on till you make another deposit to bring the balance up to positive balance.  Now I have to borrow money to cover this nonsense!

I had a balance of 18.87 in my checking account. My direct deposit from work of 951.22 was added. Two days later, a check that I had written the day before in the amount of 42.68 was debited to my account, but they put it in before my deposit, creating a deficit of 23.81. They charged me an overdraft fee of 35.00.

Subsequently, several of my checks and debits bounced and I have been charged 364.00 in overdraft fees and a daily negative balance fee of 7.00, 14.00, or 21.00. I don't know how they account for that. They won't close or freeze my account.

Rachel of Scottsburg, IN July 10, 2007

I checked my acct online only to find it in the negative. They took out 598.86 for Overdraft Recovery. This was my rent! I called and spoke with two different customer service agents who told me it was for an acct from 2004 that was charged off, which I only have the one account.

T.john of Potland, OR July 7, 2007

We generally deposit over 7,000 a month into our account, but yet they put holds on our cash deposits. I have had nothing but overdraft fees after overdraft fee's with this bank I went to close my account and was told that I was overdrawn and they would reverse these fees. I kept an eye on my account and nothing was done. Three business days later I got a call from a branch that told me they wouldn't help. This caused a 28.00 fee for every over draft fee that was not my fault due to banking errors.

Erica of North Las Vegas, NV July 3, 2007

I have had my account with US Bank for over a year now, and there have been multiple occasions in which I received overdraft fees for debit card purchases even though there was more than enough to cover my purchases. What US Bank is doing is wrong, and they need to be investigated.

Nicole of Eagan, MN May 4, 2007

My roommate banks at US Bank. She gave me a check for bills that had been paid by me earlier and said she had no cash, so just take it to her bank and they will cash it. I went into the bank and presented the check to Stephanie -- who ignored me for about five minutes because she was in deep conversation w/ another teller about how long a lunch break someone else took and how she "has issues."

I presented the check to her and was told if I don't have an account with US Bank, they will charge me 5 to cash it. I said this patron banks here, do you charge 5 for every check she writes? She said no. What a rip off!

Mary of San Mateo, CA May 2, 2007

US Bank is ruthless. I had made a deposit and received my receipt showing my balance and no hold. I wrote out checks. Then the next day I called and they said I was fine. They paid three of my checks and charged me 23.00 for each of them total of 69.00.

Michael of Evanston, IL April 17, 2007

My balance went negative because they process withdrawals immediately, but sit several days on deposits. When the check was finally processed, it brought the account positive. They then assessed 70 in fees because of the previous negative balance. Because this fee drove the balance negative again, I was charged 100 in more fees. A similar thing has happened to me twice before in the little over 2 years I had the account. Over the 3 incidents, I paid about 400.
