Sara of Spokane Valley, WA May 20, 2009 On may 16th I was at urgent care with my daughter, who had pneumonia, and my debit card gets turned down. Being pretty sure that I have money in the account I call US Bank, they tell me it is a hold because of fraud suspicion and put me on with that dept. I speak with a woman who asks me to verify some pending charges that were suspicious, I verify 3 of the charges but tell her that one of the charges (for 49.50) was made in error. It was a subscription that had been canceled and that charge was made in error. She states that she will block it while I address it with the company. From this point on I am watching my account on-line or calling the 1-800 number to verify my balance daily. I never have a negative balance. I take two advances from US bank, one on the 16th and one on the 18th for 240.00 a piece, both of which are immediately put into my available balance I spend aprox. 280.00, I use my debit card for everything so I am making numerous small purchases, anywhere from 1.00 to 15.00. From the balances on my online account I should have an aprox. 200.00 balance. On the 19th my card gets declined. I go on-line and it shows that I am 340.00 overdrawn. I get on the phone and it turns out the 50.00 charge I was told wouldn’t go through did, which resulted in an overdraft charge, which resulted in 5 more overdrafts, and then eventually 7 more overdrafts for a 440.00 charge. US Bank says they can do nothing but if I clear up the 50.00 charge with the Vendor they will waive the charges. I call the vendor they credit my account (immediately) and give me a vendor number to verify. I call the bank they say they can’t use my vendor number and they need to wait until the credit posts before they can post anything which could take up to 5 days?!. I am a single mom and I have NO money now, and no gas, friends are giving me rides. Meanwhile my charges are piling, it is not over 600.00. I go to my branch, they say they can’t do anything, I explain I was told that charge wouldn’t go through. I have direct deposit so in 2 days my paycheck will be deposited and I have 3 Autopays going out the same day. With the 500.00 advance and the 600.00 plus overdrafts my pay check will disappear and my auto pays will bounce. The Bank manager finally says he will reverse the fees but it will take 24-48 hours? I have yet to see anything. Everyone I spoke to was rude and just awful I have talked to several people who have had similar problems with US Bank. I will be closing my account but I hope something further can be done about them Robert of Hopkinsville, KY May 26, 2009 I had a joint account,my wife left me she did not overdraw account.I went to close it I was helped by loan officer to open new account. The teller did not turn in batch from previous day the loan officer took money from old accont and assured me the account could not be overdrawn,I paid some on it even though I shouldnt have now they are trying to get more money from me US-Bank said they were in the wrong.I am disabled in very bad health they are stressing me out and I cant get legal help please call me! Thank You Todd of meridian , ID May 19, 2009 I bought a house and US Bank carried the loan. i had to resign the paper work for the home loan 3 different times and each time it was for different loan ammounts. They would keep agreeing to terms and then come back and say o we cant do it after I signed. I was finnally able to get the terms of the loan resolved. After we moved in to the house they wanted to change them again. I told them the next call i was going to make was to my attorney and i was going to sue them and that was the end of that. They screwed the realator out of her commision as well. The realator worked her but off dealing with these people to get the job done. It took 7 months till i moved in from the date they first took my offer. My realator has over 20 yrs in her profession and stated she had never seen such incompotence. So now im dealing with them yet again i was laid off and have requested there help in helping me to keep my home and keep it from forclosure. I have recieved nothing but the run around if im lucky enough to talk to anyone. They seem determined to do nothing other than foreclose on me. I sent in a form they gave me and it took 4 months for them to say oh you dont qualify? i have savings from investments that by the way i lost thousands from because of the banks (thanks for that hope you enjoy my tax dollars as well) that im holding back. I had to be behind on my home payments to qualify for any program of which im finding out its just a joke and doesnt help the middle class that didnt over buy or get an armloan. Sharon of Las Vegas, NV May 19, 2009 I am so frustrated and angry with US Bank for scamming me and, no doubt, thousands of other customers with your overdraft program. In May, 2008, I opened a checking account on behalf of my disabled son since the Social Security Administration assigned me as his payee. I deposited his checks immediately upon receipt since his rent was due by the fifth of the month. I kept all receipts and printed online statements in the event of an audit by SSA. When my son was given rights to his disability check, he opened an account with your bank and in the short time he had it, became so confused over his rent check being returned and all the bank fees charged for overdrafts. He always checked his balance with his debit card, but did not realize you were putting in overdraft funds. It cost him a lot of money. Pitiful! On January 9, 2009 my son and I went to the branch and met with the customer service manager, Stephanie, to try and understand how my son’s account got so out of hand. (See his statement enclosed that she marked up for “clarity.â€) Based on Stephanie’s ludicrous explanations, my son closed his account and I closed mine as well. Starting about February, I began receiving harassing daily calls from your collection agents asking for a payment to my reserve account and that I had some ridiculous balance. I told them my account was closed on January 9 by the branch manager and I had no idea what they were talking about since I knew I was never overdrawn. They could never explain to me why I was given 200 and, if so, why it was not paid back at the time I closed my account. I was continuously denied the number and address to your Customer Service. Finally, one day I lucked out. Hence, my letter. So, after going back to my files and pulling the enclosed account print out, I went to see Stephanie once again on March 3, 2009 for an explanation. She pulled up my records and tried to tell me I was overdrawn on August 4, 2009 and that was why the 200 reserve was added. How was this missed when I closed my account? I asked Stephanie to figure up what balance was owed to repay the 200. I paid the 75.00 balance less all of the fees and late charges you continue to charge for an advance that wasn’t required in the first place! I am still receiving daily harassing calls from your telemarketers currently asking for 99.00 in fees (20 a month plus finance charges) and that they will be reporting me to the credit bureaus. Bradley of Los Angeles, CA May 14, 2009 I deposited a check. They put a hold on it. As a result i have incurred several overdraft fees. Thats just one situation. They have no right to charge 37.50 for each overdraft. They are STEALING MY MONEY!!! Times are very hard for many people right now. The last thing we need is for our own bank to be taking money from us. darryl of los angeles, CA May 12, 2009 I have been a client of US Bank for several years now. Up until just recently, all service seemed well. For the past couple of years, It was convenient for me to make my deposits in the Boyle Heights bank location down the street from my office. I can not remember a single time that my checks were held. If they were, i never noticed and here is why. I tend to pay most my bills with my debit atm card. What I am certain of is that if i would try to with draw funds and the funds were not there, my transactgion would alway be declined. I began depositing my checks at a location in Glendale, Ca. Some time in late March or early April, I was overdrawn for about 24 hours on my account, this is not something that happens often. When I made the deposit, the teller informed me that, "because i was overdrawn, only a portion would be released and the rest the next morning." Again, everything seemed fair. On may 4th, 2009. I ended up 6.15 overdrawn. That afternoon, I deposited nearly 1000.00 into the account. Assuming the same procedure took place I figured 100.00 would be released. That same evening I used my Debit card for 5 seperate transactions. I was shocked when I looked at my account on the 7th and saw 10! yes 10 overdraft charges of 37.50 each!!! I figured this had to be in error. I emailed the bank immediately and went into my local branch Monday morning to get the same response. I was told that my money wasnt released but they paid these items as a courtesy. These were not checks! These were debit transactions that if the funds were not there it should have simply been declined. For instance, if I did not deposit the 1000.00 check on May 4th, and my balance was 6.00 negative, the caqrd simply would not go thru. But, since i deposited a check for 1000.00, their system holds funds, then "pays" your debit card....and then hits you with a 37.50 fee!? this seems unfair, I admit, I did not ever see that in any forms when i opened my account. It certainly was never explained. Now the bank refuses to remove the fees and is also charging 8.00 per day. I just was able to save my home from foreclosing and now this. I feel that these are excessive fees to the consumer on top of all the other junk fees they choose to add. Pearl of Riverside, CA May 8, 2009 I turned in a beautiful 2004 Pacifica after a 62 month lease. I am being over charged 840 for light scratches that can be buffed out, a few minor scuff marks on the bumper, replacement of a headlamp that I could replace at half the price (and is due to a Chrysler defect in the seal), a non-existent dent. The inspector they sent out delayed the inspection 9 days and the report and bill were not available until after the car was turned in. The pictures do NOT match US Bank's Wear and Tear Guidelines. The car is going to auction, will not be repaired and US Bank will pocket my money to cut it's losses. If there is a class action law suit - I woould gladly be a part of it. Chris of Portland, OR May 7, 2009 I am an automobile dealer, and my customer had chosen to get her financing through this branch. I had spoken with the loan officer several times, during which she told me the loan was approved and I could bring the title to her for a check. When I got down there, she (Rita) said that although the loan was approved, the customer would need to sign the papers before a check would be cut. Fine I guess, but why did they say I could come now? Anyway, I gave them the title, signed off, which in the car world is basically as good as money.
ALLYSON of MONROE , NY April 24, 2009 On 4/22/09 my coworker and I were scheduled to fly US Airways to LGA in NYC. I go through the gates and I am on the runway about to board the plane when I was told there was only 1 seat left and they would check if there was a second seat. The attendant came back and said the plane was over weight capacity and neither of us would be able to board. They told us to go back to the counter for help. My baggage was already on this plane heading to LGA. When I go to the counter they say there is another flight but it is about to leave so I need to run through the airport to catch the Delta airlines flight not a US Airways flight. When I get to the gate of the plane, I realize they put me on a flight to a different NY airport, I was now going to JFK. My luggage is now going to LGA and I am going to JFK. I arrange for my driver to take me to LGA to pick up my luggage. When I arrive at LGA they tell me they have no idea where my luggage is and to file a missing bag complaint. I file the complaint and my luggage is eventually found. When I receive my bags the next day I have several items missing from bags . US Airways tells me that it is not their responsibility that it is now Delta Airlines responsibility because I last flew on Delta airlines. US Airways has taken no responsibility for what happened. evelyn of kansas city, KS April 30, 2009 U.S bank, worst customer service and a horrible experience. I have been charged 6, 35 overdraft charges in 2 days. After the first 4 charges, I called customer service and asked if the charges were reasonable and the representative I talked acknowledged that the charges were unreasonable and there was nothing he could do about it.By this time, all I had was one pending transaction. That same evening, I deposited money into the account resulting into a positive balance. Thinking all was well, I logged into my account the following day to find I had been charged 2 more overdraft charges. I called customer service AGAIN , the lady I talked to provided pathetic customer service and all she could do was waive one fee. I had had enough went to the branch bank and closed the account. They did'nt even care to find out why the account was being closed. By the way I had been a customer for 6 years and this was the first time I was charged any overdraft fees. I also have a credit card and I make my parents promptly. I guess they didn't value my business, or my business was not worth their time. Report Your Experience
