Valley View Bank

Overland Park, KS

ANNE of KANSAS CITY, MO September 28, 2009

I have had several overdraft fees at Valley View due to fraudulent charges on my debit card. The lack of helpfulness on the part of "customer service" was bad enough and when I complained and said I was going to file a letter of complaint with the bank officers I received intimidating phone calls from Lynn E. who identified herself as "security" like I am some kind of threat or something.

I hung up on her once because she was continuing to berate me and overspeak me and getting louder and louder and finally I said I'm not going to argue or listen at which point she immediately called me back and started to harass me for hanging up WHICH IS MY RIGHT, its my phone, I pay for it and I don't pay for it to be yelled at by people like her. Anyway after all this happened, Ms Eversoll took it upon herself to IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT ANY NOTICE TO ME CANCEL MY DEBIT CARD AND CLOSE MY ACCOUNT leaving me with bills to pay and no way to pay them.

When I complained about that to her she said it was "not her problem". I got late charges on my payments that were due the day the account was closed. It was convenient for the bank that they waited until my overnight direct deposit for Social Security Disability came in to close my account, thus assuring themselves they would be able to confiscate their usury overdraft charges and leave me in essence penniless until I could find a way to transfer my funds which is no simple matter for me as I have narcolepsy and can't drive often.

I finally got in touch with a banking officer who agreed to reinstate my account temporarily while I made arrangements to change my direct deposits and transfer my funds. This was a deliberate act of retribution (as evidenced by Ms. E.'s "not my problem" statement when i told her I was not going to be able to pay some bills and get late fees. I have never ever been so offended by a bank as this one.

I went there because I thought since it was a smaller bank it might be more "human" but boy was I ever wrong. The banking officer said if I submitted any late charges to her that she would reimburse me since she felt it was a bit hasty to close my account with no notice but while i appreciate it the whole thing is and was a big hassle and inconvenience and its all because I had the audacity to complain about their improper handling of my account.
