Wachovia had 16 items on HOLD in my checking account. I might point outm that the money for these HOLDS was already taken from my account On the day my paycheck auto deposited they also paid a check that was written on my account which overdrew the account by THIRTY CENTS. The reason for the overdraft by the way was due to the fact that Wachovia charges once a month ( whenever they feel like it ) for atm useage. this hit (coincidentally ) just before my paycheck and the subsequent overdrafts. To make a long story short they charged me for 17 overdrafts at 35 each. I was rather curtly informed by customer service that banking law allows them to do that. Legal I guess but ethical I think not. I can simply imagine how hard the banking industry lobbied for that law. This is outright criminal and should be dealt with.

I am a senior citizen, who lives alone and who has bank accounts at Wachovia. When I went to do business about my money market account Eric Schiller started telling me how he got his grandmother a home equity loan in case she needed money and kept pressing how important it was for me to get one in case my children needed to pay bills for me.

I kept saying that I didn't need money and he kept telling me that it was FREE. He said it usually cost 600 or 700 but it was free to me and I would have to get my lawyer to fill out papers.

Today I get a call about a closing. No one ever said that I was taking out a second mortgage since my house is paid for.

Tonight my daughter was with me when I received a call about  the closing papers.  She flipped out, asking why I was getting a second mortgage. I didn't know that I was getting a mortgage.

I don't think they should be using these type of scare tactics to get an account.  I think Wachovia is training their financial specialists to work on the old people because this also happened to my friend at another branch of the same bank.
