Linda of Medford NY writes (12/21/01):
I just read about what has happened at the cemetary (see story). My father is buried there. It's coming up on the 8th year anniversary of his death. I'm very upset about what I read and can't believe in this day and age that some big conglomerate would perpetrate such a horrendous act upon people who put their trust in them.

My mother is now 86. She will eventually join my father. All arrangements are pre-arranged. I can't tell my mom about this. I don't know how she will react. But I feel that as someone whose trust has been destroyed by the horror of what I've read,I need to know for certain that my father is where he should be and not somewhere else.

How does one describe the consequences of learning that a loved one may not be resting in peace, but may be strewn to the wind so to speak. There are no words that can describe what I'm feeling at this moment. I reminds me of the Holocaust, but much worse since this was a service that was paid for in good faith. Words cannot describe, I cannot tell you how many tears I have cried since I read this article. It is a horrific thing and one that needs to be addressed.
