Follow-up of fabric problem, with two Ethan Allen Paloma chairs, purchased in Novi, Mi. in Oct./07

Hi I wrote consumer affairs with my complaint yesterday. I recieved my response from Ethan Allen Corp. today. After contacting the Livonia, Mi. store, I was told they would not honour the warranty because I had taken the furniture out of the U.S. I asked why Ethan Allen feels they have the right to dictate where I take my belongings,and I was told they would look into it, and if they got any reasonable response they would contact me. I advised them that I had written a letter to consumer affairs and would be following up with there response. I also stated that I would never by there product again.

i ordered furniture on advice from your designer and when it arrived, iut did not fit in alloted ares and was not useable. store manager said no options . designer looked at furniture when it arrived and no help.

We purchased a glass top pub table and the glass after 4-5 months was badly scratched. We used the glass like our other glass top tables we have had for 10 years or more. The Ethan Allen glass top started getting scratched from the beginning. We called to see if they would replace the glass and better yet, apply the cost of the glass to another better quality glass and we would pay the difference. They would not agree to that or even replace the glass. Why is all the other glass in our house in great condition after all these years?

We will have to replace the glass ourselves and don't feel it is fair. There are just 2 adult people living in this home.

Ordered two chairs, end table, and bench, custom covered, in November 2008. Told 6 weeks turn around maybe 8. The chairs and end table came in but not the bench. Told one week, it was in California; next week it was on the East Coast, next week Minneapolis, MN--a traveling bench that never arrived after 4 MONTHS wait. Store will NOT refund deposit, won't do a thing other than take the bench or not. So we told them to keep the bench and they can consider our downpayment of 200 for negative advertising for their store! The little guy can now advertise thanks to the internet. Oh, to boot they had a very condescending attitude. The hard times must not affect Ethan Allen because they sure don't mind driving away customers!

I purchased a TANGO Cal. King Bed , armoire and end tables in April 2008. After delivery there were deep splintered areas on the bedrails which would affect the integrity of the bed. I asked for replacement. One set was delivered, not the right size. Many months later the next set was delivered painted offwhite, not the distressed cream color of the bed at all. I was told I should get the bed replaced by the installer.

I asked for the replacement bed and was rebuffed. We'll give you whatever we decide , you'll have to take it, we'll have a tech try to match it, we can't guarantee the rails will match. Linda O of Margate delivery said that. Please intercede to correct this issue. I have a 5 years warranty on Ethan Allen's wood furniture, and it is brand new but with structural defects!
