My glass top table shattered in the sun when I originally bought it and they replaced it and now three or four years later it shattered again on Mother's day when i was about to serve a brunch.

Ruined mothers day and the brunch had to be moved inside and guests were really shaken up. Impossible clean up.

Jenna of Whiting, NJ July 16, 2004

Jenna of Whiting NJ (07/16/04)
I purchased an outddor set from Fortunoff, it was delivered on August 8th,2003. Due to our moving situation I had the delivery personel leave the side table and umbrella in the box until we could actually enjoy the set several weeks later. We opened it the first week of September and noticed the moment we put it up the umbrella tilted all the time. Nothing we did except putting a metal ring to secure it worked. I did not call right away due to moving issues. We had a 1 year warranty. We stored the umbrella away with the other furniture by the end of October. We took it out again at the end of May, 2004 and remembering the problem called Fortunoff on June 1, 2004.

Since my warranty states coverage for 1 year from delivery I thought that I had nothing to worry about. I was wrong. They sent a service technician out to fix it, I thought great. It was something simple that they could fix. They could not fix it and they sent a report saying it was caused by wind damage and that is not covered under the warranty. They said if I had called right away they would have honored the warranty, but then weeks later they now say I only had 10 days to report it.

They said they have to go by their reports and only offered a 20% discount on a new umbrella. Fortunoff sells defective products. We assumed that by buying (what we thought was) better quality furniture, we would also get the sevice that usually comes along with it. Again I was wrong.
