In March of 2000 I traveled to High Point, NC to purchase dining room furniture. We purchased it from this company on March 26. I recieved a call that my furniture was in and would be delivered on May 24.
We purchased American Drew Furniture consisting of 2 corner china cabinets, a large oval table, 2 arm chairs,4 side chairs, the tablemat and 2 bags to keep the leaves of the table in. The price was $4301.00 plus $402.70 for delivery.
When it arrived the corner cabinet had some minor imperfections like small scratches and a spot which was not stained, but I realized no one would be looking at the cabinet as closely as I so I accepted it. The second cabinet we refused out in the street because it was so damaged, the six chairs seemed ok and the table was damaged with shiny spots on a matte finish and a chip in the table's skirt.
The delivery men assured me someone would come out to fix the table and not to send it back, so I kept it. After about 2 days I realized the cusions on the chairs were different. The 2 arm chairs had white on white flowers and the side chairs have white on white diamonds. The company since has been very tough to deal with. If I don't contact them they do not contact me.
So far all thats happened is I was told they would do nothing until I took pictures of the damage and mail it to them. I did that and I heard nothing until I call them a couple of days later. I was told they had nothing to do with the corner cabinet I sent back and I should contact the shipping company.
I was going to receive six new cusions via UPS. I have not. After about 4 weeks later a local furniture company called and came to look at the table and said it can not be fixed. On 7-2-00 I received the other corner cabinet and it is a totally different color than the first one. It's a lot darker. and the finiale on top was missing. The shipping company told me they must have lost it and will ship it as soon as possible. I have not received it or had any help when I called to inquire about it.
After some time I again contacted the furnitue company and they said they would be sending me a new corner cabinet and if it matched the darker one I had to accept it even though it doesn't match my chairs or table. I'm hoping it matches the lighter one because that is what would match the rest of the furniture.
It is now 8-9-00 and nothing has been cleared up despite my efforts and my daughter is being married in October and I was hoping this was taken care of. My purchase date was 3-26-00.
This has just been very aggravating,I thought I was being smart by going to NC but I was not. I have made numerous calls to NC, probably about 10. We have not been able to use our dining room because of the furniture that needs to go back. And I spent almost $5000.00 and have nothing to show for it.
