Were shown a 37 in Tosiba t.v. with a cash price of over 800/ installment over 1200 but we could make payments and if paying it off in three months or less only pay the cash price. We understood it was a "new" set. They delivered a set dated 2008. Used. I took it back and got my money back but again...wonder how many people they do this too. phillip of post falls, ID October 17, 2009 I bought a used computer for 100 cash on Thursday. I decided to return it the next day. I was told by the manager and another employee that cash sales were no-returnable, non-refundable. I asked to see some kind of a notice, got a blank stare...called customer service and a supervisor met me at the store Saturday and refunded my money with no explanation. cynthia of yor, PA October 16, 2009 I rented a bedroom set from rent a center on july 29 and ive been making 200 dollar payments on it rent a center claims that i havent paid them and are trying to take my furniture from me ive explained to them that ive been sick and imin a custody battle in ny with my ex husband and ive paid them in person and i have a witness ...I just found out im pregnant and they continue to harass me and threaten me .If i have to i will call my lawyer and file harassment charges against them.... When I called james the next day he refused to work thing out. I explained to his boss that I would rather deal with someone other than James. His boss went on vacation and have not heard from James's boss or james since then. Rachel of Surprise, AZ October 11, 2009 On 08/08/09 I was looking to buy a washing machine and a lap top . I decided to get one at rent a center which I have in the past. but in Phoenix, Arizona . I wanted to buy 90 day same as cash. I was shown a lap top and was told about the washer which was not at the store yet. Ok started to get the paper work going price was given 391.86 for Computer 329.00 for washer. Once we were done signing I asked him before he packed the lap top to go, I noticed the keyboard did not work , He stated oh we will send it out to get repaired . But I just gave you 300.00 cash for two items that I will not have. He said well Our delivery will not come out till next week. I waited for the Washer over a Week. Got it but the lap top I had to call and complain for a couple of days. He brought out a loaner for me to use. well two weeks go by I go into the store and he gave me the lap top I had purshased , got home and it was the same with a lock on it unable to excess it. took it back and he said we have been having problems with the repair shop . Take back the loaner do not worry about payment till this gets handled. well that was a lie. They called me to give my payment on my items the washer and the lap top. they posted money on the lap top when I had told them with these red flags I do not want the lap top they said sorry but we can not trans the money to your washer . in the end 150.00 went to the lap top that Mr. Andrew T said they had to trash. now When I had gone in there to take back the lap top he had given me a reciept of my washer balance of 15.98 due by 1I /09/09 . I went in on 09/30/09 to pay my balance off he gave me a balance of 245.00 I said What? I told him about the reciept he had given me and he said I need to see it. I came home and faxed to him. then i went in the store ( One month later paid off) to pay off the balance he than goes and chages me 173.58 He said he needed to tax me over agian. I am so disgusted with Rent a center. holly of richmond hill, GA October 11, 2009 My daughter and her fiance were driving back to Hinesville today. Her fiance was stopped for speeding. When the officer came back to the car he said he was going to have to place him under arrest!!! Well needless to say my daughter and her fiance were all upset wanting to know why!! The officer said that their was an OUTSTANDING WARRENT FROM RENT A CENTER!! From what we can tell this is what happened..... 2 years ago Tim rented some furmiture from rent a center. He is in the military and was out in the field and I guess he didnt make a payment. Anyway, when he got back from the field they came and picked up the furniture but in the mean time they put out a warrent for his arrest. Now mind you he has been living his life for the last 2 years and had NO IDEA that they had even done this!!! until today when he got stopped for speeding!!! Now he is in JAIL and we have got to try to get him out... The kicker is that this is a federal offence!!! That is a big deal. It could really mess up is military career because he has to deploy in 3 weeks. I AM WARNING EVERYBODY DO NOT RENT FROM RENT A CENTER! I mean come on this boy is fighting for our freedom and they are doing this to him they got the furniture back!!! there should be no warrent! anthony of hartford, CT October 9, 2009 We rented a computer and a xbox game on the day we made the agreement i asked for both items to be new on seeing the contract the xbox was used and only the computer was new.I returned the xbox three weeks later because it was not working they took it and send it out for fixing,i did not get it back until a week later on prior to recieving the xbox back it still would not turn on ,i brought it back to them continuously to be fixed while all of this was going on i never received a loaner and i was still making payments on the merchandise.They also discuss my personal business account with third parties which i asked them not to.They would call me before my payment date and asked me what time will i be in, they arrased me with phone calls consistantly.I think we should not have been paying for the xbox while they had it because we never got a replacement for it we was just paying for them to give us back a broken xbox and it says in their contract that they will fix the merchandise if it was broken and it was not our fault. I would just like them to reimburst me on the xbox or to either fix it so it would work. patricia of jacksonville, FL October 5, 2009 I have had an account with rent center for several months. i have always paid on time. only a few times i have been late an of coarse l'll pay a late charge. The guys in this company is so rude, when i told them when i can make the payment, they will tell you when you will make the payment. They don,t have any regard to customer appreciation, or dedication. this company might have an customer base now but with this type of attitude we will disapear quickly and from the comments on this site it seems that they have a lot of dissatified customers. Once they came out to pick up one of the items i rented they entered my home my son a minor they bang on the door. he said he open it. he is a teenager. they did,nt leave until they took the items with them. when i question the manerger about this. he was so afraid that i would report this. he bought the items back that night. I don,t know who,s training or what they are training but don,t forget customer service. that,s what fuels the company. Remember we can always go somewhere esle. I was very disapointed knowing i have been a dedicated customer. And i was very angry to know that someone from this company entered my home while i was,nt at home, when they could have call and made a time to pickup. Jay of Coconut Grove , FL October 1, 2009 I visited that store last saturday late morning, I wanted to see some furniture for posible rental of a edroom set. At first I didn't see anyone in floor and when I first try to walk toward their office to see if some one could help me, the gentleman who came to ry to help me said he didn't understand me (cause I only spoke english) I ask him kindly if he could try to get someone who spoke english, after waiting for about 10 - 15 minutes, this arrogant gentleman who claimed to be the manager ask me "what did I need". I told him is he needed personnel that spoke English? he them answer to me "I am a very proud Cuban, and all of my customer speak spanish and/or spanish and english". I, then told him, I felt offended that I had to wait for him to speak english, he them told me that's life! and after he told me that remark I walk away and as I was leaving said "vente pa' la P----" (if put in an educated way, go to hell) Nellie of west palm beach, FL October 1, 2009 I rented a bedroom set, the initial delivery was the wrong product. The delivery guys left the box spring and mattress only and would return with the correct set. The next day or two they returned with the correct set, I was told it was new however the paperwork said used. After set-up one day later I noticed that the headboard moved. I investigated the headboard was not attached, I called RAC, was informed that I could purchase screws to attach my own headboard. And If the headboard splits I would be liable. If I call the office I will get 10 different answers from 10 different people for the same question. I am constantly harassed about the payment. RAC are the equivalent to Loan Sharks. I have pictures of the headboard leaning against the window not attached to the bed frame. I just want other potential customers to beware. Report Your Experience
