We have five of these beds in our family - 4 Cal Kings and our newest a twin, bought in '04. Previously when we have had a problem, Select Comfort has been accommodating (leaking inner tube, non-working remotes). But that was the old Select Comfort policy, I guess. Now, the bed bought four years ago, has a remote which does not work. Customer Service told me they knew there was a problem with those remotes and would send us a new one. Fine, but there is a cost as the warranty is pro-rated according to how long you have had the bed. We also have to pay for shipping back the old one.

Incredible that they know of a flaw in the remote and do not replace it without cost to the customer. We have spent many thousand dollars on these beds over the years and have liked them a lot once problems were addressed, but obviously the Company's warranty policy has changed. This is not a warranty! - it is a pro-rated discount, and their 20 year warranty is totally meaningless. Read the fine print and know what you are getting. These beds have LOTS of problems, and if Select Comfort today no longer honors their warranty - buy another bed!

We purchased a Queen 9000 Sleep Number bed from the local retail outlet in May 2006. There were may physical problems I encountered but did not realize until it was too late. So I was stuck with the bed. Warranty concerns: On November 15, 2008 I called and talked to Jennifer at the main number (800-472-7185). I told her the bed started deflating a few days earlier and just yesterday it would not inflate and keep the air in on my side of the bed. There was a big depression on my side. Jennifer was nice and told me how to test where the problem might be.

She said if it deflated again it was a mattress problem and would cost me about 40 plus tax and shipping (this was at a 72% pro-rated discount). I was over the 2 year 100% warranty replacement period and now at 72%. She said if it was not the mattress they would first send out a seal kit which would be free (no charge) and they do this regularly on issues like this if not the mattress. She said just to call and this would be the next step. She also said that if it was not the seals I would have to get a replacement pump and it would be 550.00 less the 72% warranty (or 154 plus shipping and tax).

The bed did not deflate noticeably over 48 hours and I called back. This time I talked to Shantrayah. She was not as nice as Jennifer and when I told her the bed stayed inflated she told me right away that I would have to pay for a new pump. I told her hey wait, Jennifer said you would send me the Seal Kit for free first. Shantrayah said that Jennifer had no business telling me they would send the Seal Kit because it was NOT available for the 9000 model. She said I had no other options.

I am NOT happy with this product or how the warranty works out. It seems that many other customers of this product are unhappy for the same reason. The warranty only lasts long enough for the product to just go beyond the 100% replacement period and then you end up paying an overpriced fee for replacement parts. I also don't like the fact that one representative tells me one thing and then another tells me another.

My last point: unfortunately I did not connect the dots and realize early on that this product (a glorified air mattress bed) was causing my back, arm and shoulder problems. You can get a famous person to say anything about a product and convince you it is the best thing in the world for you and most of the time it is not. They just do a good and many times unethical sales job on you. I would love to get my money back on this one.

After 3 years, loss of air pressure in chambers.

We have had not problems up until now. The past 6 months we have to keep adjusting our # every night. We have not had to do this until now. It is getting worse. Now its not holding the sleep # throughout the night. So I wake up sore. Customer care will give you crap about bar pressure and air temp ect...Load of crap. If that was the case it should of been doing this since the day we got it, not 3 years later. This is abreak down in there product.

Now I have to pay 32% b/c after 2 years the warranty is prorated. After spending 2500 on a bed that is susposed to last a life time the warranty is prorated. Give me a break. This thing is crap and I should of bought a temperpedic. DON'T BUY THIS BED!!!!!! Customer service is nice but I should not have to pay for CRAP after only 3 years!!!! They will argue the air loss point about temp, and out side barameter pressure crap, but save yourself the troulbe and ask for supervisor. I'm PISSED. I want my money back so I can buy a matress that actually does what it is susposed to do.

I read all the complaints and I am floored. I bought my bed about 8 years ago. When you sign up to get their info in the mail, you eventually will get a flier for a sale on refurbished beds. I bought a king refurbished mattress for only 500. I can relate to the trench effect. Customer service was always wonderful to me. They did send me out more foam and gave me ideas on moving the foam to the inside then try it on the outside. I ended up putting a comforter down the middle between the two chambers. It does help. But I love my select comfort bed and will not give it up. I bought it because I did have terrible back pain and it has been wonderful to me. There is a difference in setting when one person is in the bed and when there is two in the bed. I need to lower it by 5 when my significant other is in bed with me.

Since a lot of these complaints are pretty recent, I wonder if they just don't make them as good a quality anymore? If so, that's too bad. Kinda like the dryer I bought not that long ago. I would give anything to buy someone's used 10-20 year old dryer. My 25-30 year old dryer died on me. They definetly don't make them like they used to!!

We purchased a select comfort bed and have had nothing but problems with it since it's purchase. I think that we have replaced every part on this bed since we bought it, the pump, the matress, the foam pads were cracked, the lining sagged and ripped, it has been a 3500 mistake that we just have to live with because we have no money to buy another bed.

I would never recomend this bed to another person, it is just a bunch of foam and an air mattess that they advertise as the best thing since sliced bread. Just a horrible bed, customer service has been good I cannot complain about that, I just opened up our bed to move it and found the mold, called them up and they are sending out a new bed. No sending back any parts no nothing just sending out a new bed,

I am very dissapointed with them that they knew about this problem with the mold and never bothered to tell the consumers about it, just waited for them to find it. My husband has been very ill for over two years now, at least now I know why and hopefully the docotors will be able to help him, the fact that we have been sleeping on mold sickens me.

My husband has had to go out on permanant social security disability. The doctors do not know what is wrong with him, have had so many tests, MRI, CT scans, etc, even had brain surgery, to no avail, has memory problems, back problems, sleep problems, and all because he has been sleeping on mold. Never knew I had to keep checking the bed for mold, have never had mold ever in our lifetime till now. I am thourgly discusted with this product.
