Inside the "Mattress Mafia"

James of Astoria NY (11/22/08)
Purchased a mattress and box spring from sleepys in 2005. My wife and i noticed a chage in the matress over the last year. A sag in the middle and in the corners. We brought a inspector from sleepys in on october 31st and this is the result of the inspection.

According to sleepys the mattress is up to manufacturers standards(even though the center is sagng and the coils are pushing against the corners and collapsing) so were are inelegible for a new mattress at this time time. However the foundation (box spring) is not up to standards and we are elibible for a new one. This mattress has gone from a sleepys warehouse to our apartment and that is it we have never moved it anywhere. If the boxspring is damaged it was done by sleepys at the warehouse or during delivery. We have backaches in the morning from this bed. Now we have to wait for a damaged mattress that is a result from a bad boxspring to deteriate enough for sleepys to feel that it meets its standards for damage. I dind that totally unacceptable

We have an inferior product that sleepys damaged and they dont seem to care. We have back aches from this bed and we need your help

I currently have a S&F Plaza Terrace Room Firm King set. The first mattress that I received was extremely deformed with a huge lump near the head and a bent corner. By the time the new mattress was unwrapped my old one had been taken away. I was assured that another one would be sent out the following day and it was.

The second mattress smelled like smoke. I thought the smell was from the packaging and I figured it would go away. It didnt. After a few days of sleeping on this mattress a large depression formed and the mattress began to hammock. I laid a straight edge across the bed and measured a full inch of depression (inch and a half at the seems). My back was hurting and I could not sleep comfortably on the mattress.

I took my complaints to both Sleepys locations on Route 211 in Middletown, NY. I spoke to Jill who had sold me the mattress. She was eager to help me but two other people, who appeared to be her supervisors, would not allow her to make an exchange. I was given two options. I was told that I could have yet another mattress exchanged free of charge or I could pay for a comfort exchange. I was not pleased with either option and I reluctantly accepted the third mattress.

I am completely dissatisfied with this product and the your service. All I wanted when I walked into the store was a good nights rest and I havent gotten it. I am sure that it will only be a matter of time before I have to call and have a fourth mattress delivered to me. Im telling everyone I know to stay away from Sleepys. They dont stand behind their product. I spent over 2,000 on garbage. I want a refund.

Helene of New City NY (11/17/08)
My husband and I puchased a new mattress and boxsprings from Sleepy's in the Spring Valley Market place on 3/22/08. We have been uncomfortable for months on this mattress. Our bed is new with plenty of reinforcment on the frame. The mattress is sagging and it is visibly noticeable. We made a complaint to sleepy's. They sent out an independent contractor to take pictures of the mattress. I received a call that the problem is within the MIralux waranty and I should read my waranty if I want to pursue my complaint any further.

We rotate this mattress monthly as we were told to do. We wake up every morning with back aches. I am disgusted and appalled that with all their talk about customer service there is none. They are going to make me jump through hoops to pursue this matter when they should be replacing it due to defects. I spoke to the woman from sleepys who told me the 3/4 indentation is a comfort issue not a defective issue. They are not required to replace my mattress. They may offer me a discount on another mattress but that will still be an out of pocket expense for us.

This mattress is clearly defective as it is not even a year yet and we hav had problems for months. We even had the furniture store come back because we thought it was our new bed frame which we purchased at the same. It was not. The bed did not strat to be a problem in the first 30 days as this woman iluded to. It was a few months after. Shouldn't we be able to expect to be comfortable and sleep without pain on a new mattress?

I am physically disabled, and went to Sleepys looking for a new mattress. I have small amount of scoliosis and told the salesman that I required a firm mattress. I went too a Sleepys. I was shown two very uncomfortable firm mattresses, and decided to leave. Another salesman Mark K. suddenly confronted me and told me he could offer me a deal on a very good mattress. The mattress FG-7327-SFH-T, OCT07, BW48158K Model: 7327 Prototyype ID: 8988, Foundation ID: SFH, was obviously a model from last year, as there were no floor models, and it was wrapped in plastic. I lied on it for about a minute, and it felt comfortable, but soft. I inquired if the mattress was firm. The salesman said yes, and that it only had a soft cover for comfort.

I agreed on the matress, and asked if it could be returned, if I found it to be uncomfortable. Both my Community Integration Specialist (who will cooberate his sales technique) and I were told that I had three weeks to return it, for a full refund, as long as there wasn't any stains or other damage on it. After the first nights rest, my back really hurt, because I was sinking into it. I waited about a week and a half, because the insert it came wt said that your body takes time to adjust.

I then hobbled into Sleepys. I was seeking a refund. They told me sure. I would just have to pay a 150 return fee, and a 100 delivery fee, for a new mattress. I explained that I didn't want a new mattress. I only wanted a refund, as the salesman Mark K. explained that I could do, in the event that the mattress was uncomfortable. They told me that this could not be done. I am on a fixed income, and can not afford the additional fees. I also can not get by with the pain. I have already left a complaint wt you, and received no response.

I ordered a 1700 king size pillow-top with the agreement that it would be delivered next day. The bed did come but it was extremely defective. The pillow-top part has a 2 foot high lump in the center. This is no exageration! Literally, the center was 2 feet higher that the edges. I was not there to receive the mattress as they had told me a different time and they came early. My daughter signed for it and was told that if it was slept on, it would even out. A steam roller could not even this thing out. A trip back to the store the next day was met by a condescending salesman. The original guy was nowhere to be found. I am still waiting for them to pick up the old mattress and refund my money. Never Never Never buy from these clowns.

Lost a week of sleep as I have been sleeping on a couch. countless phone calls and stalling. Still waiting for these clowns to pick up their mattress. Getting ready to hire an attorney.
