Nancy of Middletown RI (12/08/08) I walked into a sleepys and decided on a Kingdown body essential blue green at the recommendation of their machine and the salesman. The salesman has been very nice all along. The mattress arrived and after two nights I was on my couch because of back and neck pain. The mattress feels nothing like the one in the store. The box spring has a defect- the center plank that should run in the center from the head of the box spring to the foot is off to the left, so it doesnt sit n the middle bar of the new bed frame I got. The mattress is defective because it melts or something as you sleep on it. Zero support.
I financed it through them- no payment due for 12 months. Am I protected by Rhode Island law to simply return the product and the credit contract because I was delivered a defective product. I don't want to go through what many of these people have. I know I dont want a kingsdown if it made it into my bedroom that defective, so my only other choice is to choose another one of theirs at no doubt a higher cost. Please advise. I only have 5 days left for my 20 day comfort exchange I would rather walk awy from sleepys altogether.
serious back pain. I am sleeping on my couch. Basically no sleep. Feel like I have no choice but to be forced into a higher cost mattress and i don't trust anything they sell me. My mattress feels nothing like the mattress i tested in teh store and its defective. David of Southampton, MA December 7, 2008
David of Southampton MA (12/07/08) I should have googled them first and then would have never bought there. I bought a Serta mattress and boxspring and within two months, yes two months it started to sag on both sides. They sent a girl out to look at it and she agreed that it should not have done this, but they will contact me. yeah right they never call you back, they try to pass the buck to use and said that we did not have enough support, BULL. They want to offer us a employee discount is the best they can do. The worst part is thinking that it has to be a used mattress that we are sleeping on. I will take them to small clains court if I have too, better yet I will drag this crappy mattress through the front door of the store to show customerswhat you really get for the money.
of course my wife and I backshurt and I feel we have been taken advantage of. Weithofer of East Longmeadow, MA December 6, 2008
Weithofer of East Longmeadow MA (12/06/08) In May 2008 I purchased two PP Island Manor FM twins and 2 Posturepedic twin box from Sleepy's Longmeadow, East Longmeadow Ma. After a few months later a dreppression formed in the center of mattress. A Technicion visits they agree it was defective and would exchange for a new one. This was finally resolved and delivered another mattress completely different 2 higher than the other one.
Now Sleepy's is giving me lots of stree and problems they it is my proplem that one is 2 higher than the other one.We have the two twin together with a Kingsize headboard. That is what we want not a kingsize bed. They say they changed the mattress, now it's my problem. I want it fixed or my money back. Custer Service and Regional Manager were not helpful at all. The Service is terrible they sold me a mattress which is not replaceable any more without telling me.They don't make that style anymore. The salesman misled me.Will never shop at Sleepy's again with that kind of service.
Depression formed after a short time and now one is 2 higher than the other one Jeanne of Cambridge, MA December 5, 2008
Jeanne of Cambridge MA (12/05/08) Mattress purchased from Sleepys 11/12, delivered 11/21. I have not slept on it, all tags, etc in place. I realized I had purchased the wrong Mattress immediately (have not slept on it). I called today (12/5) to ask how I could return the mattress. Sleepys told me I could not, that I should have done more research (regarding their deposit and return policy!). I can - if I choose buy another mattress from them, after paying an exchange fee of 150, plus delivery of new, and delivery of original mattress. Is this legal?
I do not want to do business with Sleepys at all. I need my 1000 returned so that I can purchase a mattress from a reputable business. Do I have any recourse? I signed the sales invoice, which states the return policy. The salesman did not call that to my attention. When I called the 1-800 number Trudy recited it to me before I even had a chance to speak. Please advise.
Donna of Madison, CT December 4, 2008
Donna of Madison CT (12/04/08) In Oct 08 I purchased a new mattress from sleepys. By Dec 08 it began to sag. An ivestigator was sent out and a report found it defective. I was told that every time I called to see if the report was mailed that in fact it was. If that were true I would have received 3 separate reports. I only received one. These reports are good for 30 days from the time it was initiated. Good thing that I kept calling. By the time I received it, I had only 1 1/2 week to take action. Well the replaced mattress starting sagging in the summer.
I contacted Sleep's and an investigator came out on Nov. 8th. She said it is sagging but remains within standards thus far but clearly it will continue and to call for another investigation in one month. On 11/23/08 @ 3:55 pm, I received a clled stating that there was nothing wrong with my mattress and a report will be mailed promptly. As of this date, I have received nothing. I sent an email to the customer service department this morning. I also called at 11:34 am and spoke with Tiffany from Sleepy's. They must be receiving many complaints because all I did was ask her one question and she snapped.
I am still in shock at how she actually hollared at me. In the meantime she checked my records and stated that the report went out on 11/23 but when I told her I didn't get and this happened in the fall as well she merley repeated that it went out on 11/23 and that this one should not matter as to when it arrives because there are no defects and the contract won't expire in 30 days. I asked to speak with a manager but she said that none are avaialable but you can leave your number I gave her my pager number and informed her that it is on 24/7.
I was told I would hear from someone in 24 to 48 business hours. I was shocked to have this occur twice for the price I paid. I only weight 130lbs. how could these mattresses sag? I took digital photos this time. You can actually aappreciate the sagging through the bed covers. Clearly , this seems to be quite common with Sleep's by reading the numerous complaints that all sound like mine. What is happening here? Jerry of West Windsor, NJ December 4, 2008
