Robert Urich's "Endorsement"

Urich

Robert Urich

Zegeye of Sugar Land, TX, writes (4/2/01):
I saw an infomercial, hosted by Robert Urich, about Cybersonic Tootbrush. Even though I am suspicious of infomercials, I was more inclined to believe their claim because of Robert Urich. I have heard his interview on 20/20 about his personal life, and I thought this guy has more integrity and would not endorse fake product. That is how I got sucked in.

To my surprise, it happened that the product was not what it was advertised to be. I tried to call the number that accompanied the product and that number was always busy. I had no choice but to call the credit card company for a billing dispute. The credit card company suggested that I send it back and for me to send the Credit Card Company a proof of shipment. I went to a local post office and sent the product back, with the same package I received, via Priority mail. 4 month past my complaint, the credit card company sent me a letter asking me for a tracking number since Cybersonic claims that they have not received it. I do not have a tracking number since Priority Mail does not provide one. My response was that Cybersonic sent me the merchandise via Priority Mail and I sent it back the same way. I should not be responsible for lost package.

Even using credit card did not help. The Credit Card company told me that the only way that I would not be responsible is either when I have not received it or if I have tracking information.

It's a big mistake to put any credence of any kind in celebrity endorsements. Zegeye's first impulse was right: don't trust infomercials. Now if he will also stop trusting celebrity endorsements, he'll be on the right track.

Celebrities are in business. They sing, dance, act and endorse products for money. Period.
