Purchased the Fresh Air by Eco Quest in 2004, cleaned it without fail every 4- 5 weeks when product indicated. Replaced parts when needed and it stopped running cold a week ago (Aug 2008). Saw a burned fuse so I called for a replacement, bought two, another filter, UV bulb, RCI target and installed them and then plugged it in and the motor smoked and smelled. Motor shot in four years.

This was an 850 product that was designed to run indefinitely with proper care. Proper care was taken and it's motor burned up in four years. That's 212.50 per year and not worth it. Of course, the warranty expired after three years. Furious at the quality.

As a dealer for company I represented a product called Laundrypure. In March of 2007 I discovered a potential quality problem that could cause catotrphic flooding issue in consumers home who purchased product. After reporting isse to engineering I was told by engineering it was not a problem. After flooding mine and others home discovered company knew of problem, knew it would cause flooding and because of cost to repair lied to dealers. There are approximately 20 - 25,ooo units in field with this problem.

Has flooded many homes including mine. Most people do not file on insurance vecause of deductible and points.

warning!!! i bought a laundrypure unit in december of 2007 and loved it. my clothes smell great and i save energy with the cold water. today i was cooking on my gas grill outside and had walked back into the house and heard what i thought was a mini explosion so i ran back outside thinking the propane tank had blown up. all was fine so went back into the house to see smoke coming out of my utility room and flashes of light.

it was the laundry pure on fire and smoking. it was not in use and so i pulled the power to it and called my husband to see how to get it off the wall because it was still smoking but no flashes. the wall is black where it was hanging and my husband opened up the laundrypure and the circuit board and wires connected to it is fried. if i had not been home to unplug it, who knows what kind of damage it could have caused.

i bought one of these for my daughter and called her immediately to have her husband check their unit. i don't know what caused this but feel the need to warn others to check their unit. my daughter said there was a warning about the silver rods in this and we didn't check ours until now and they are almost gone so maybe this caused it to short out, but it wasn't in use when this happened so it really is disturbing. i only do maybe 2 or three loads of laundry a week, so this unit has not been overused.

please check your units so this doesn't happen to you, this could have burned our home down or worst, happened at night after we went to bed. we live in a two story home and probly would not have heard the noise from this. please, please check your units and find out if there is any problems you should be looking for. i am taking pictures of the unit to send to and am going to call ecoquest international tomorrow about this problem. i have loved my unit until now, but this is very upsetting. this is a very expensive unit to just burn up.

Being a HVAC company owner I became curious with the Ecoquest fresh air machine. I feel like a complete fool because I initially thought it made sense. The machine made the room smell fresh like it just rained and there was less particles in the air. Then I was informed by an engineer how ozone tricks your sense of smell and it is just a glorified ionizer.

The Ecoquest rep in our BNI chapter claims it kills every known airborne disease known to man. She also tells us it cures asthma, allergies and helps her MS symptoms. This woman when approached by a interested customer will attempt to sign them up as a Ecoquest dealer instead of just selling them a Fresh Air Machine. After getting to know her for the last 3 years I have concluded she is a complete hypocrate and is profiting from deceiving people.

I have embarrassed myself and lost several large customers due to trying to sell this equipment. I should have researched this closely before investing and could have saved myself 10's of thousands of dollars in lost HVAC business. I have used a alias and will use my own attorneys to file suit against Ecoquest. Another reason for using a alias here is because of the Ecoquest ads on this page.

I became an EcoQuest dealer and I don't sell anything that I don't use, and know what it will and will not do. I've never experienced any problems or changes in my health - good or bad - after introducing the EcoQuest air purifiers into my home. So, I decided to sell them, and order a grunch of them.

Then - after a few months, I noticed that everything in the house which is made of rubber or has rubber parts was disintegrating. Rubber bands turned hard and brittle in a matter of a couple weeks. Anything rubber in the rooms with an EcoQuest air purifier running was effected more swiftly than in remote rooms without the purifier.

So, I did tests to determine if the EcoQuest purifiers were the source, and have determined they definitely are the source.

But, in the time it took to discover and determine the exact cause, I incurred thousands of dollars in losses. My DVD and CD drives in my computer both failed, because their drive belts disintegrated. My VCRs, DVD players and turntable all met the same demise; their rubber parts becoming hard and brittle then breaking. Repairs and replacement costs of everything that has been affected by this rubber disintegrating problem has been exobitant.

So, we need everyone who has EcoQuest air purifiers running in their homes to take notice of this, and report it, so there can be a class-action suit to try to recover the financial losses the EcoQuest air purifiers are causing.
