Roxie of Hawthorne CA (05/12/08) On 3-10-08 I was billed for $3.97 for sample of Hoodia Fen product which I received. On 3-18-08 I was billed for $79.95 which as of today (5-12-08) I have not received. On 4-3-08 I contacted them and said I did not want this and to refund my money. The gentlemen said that I would have to send the product back so he was going to be in the order again which I should receive in 2-3 weeks and he emailed a form to attahed to the back when I sent it back.
Susan of Kenner LA (05/08/08) Got scammed. Could not reach them to cancel till I saw this article. Have to check how much money I lost, not sure at the moment.
Eileen of Sprigngfield MA (03/27/08) I saw an offer for a free trial of Hoodia, in order to receive my free sample I agreed to pay shipping and handling (only on the free sample). No other deductions or orders were authorized by me. I have since received two bottles of Hoodia at a price of $69.95 which was deducted from my account (that was used for the original shipping and handling charge). I have emailed the customer service department but have received no response. I do not wish to receive any further products from this company and have told them so by email. Further I would like to return what was sent to me and to have my account reimbursed. I will be informing my bank that any charges from this company are fraudulent and should not be honored. In the meantime, I found this report form at the end of 13 pages of complaints about this company from people from all over the country. Hopefully something will be done as this company does not respond to anyone who has contacted them from what I've read.
Mary of Danville IN (03/02/08) Feb.2, I saw a side ad, on-line, to get Hoodia free. You just pay S & H for a 30-day free trial, then after the 30 days a full bottle will be sent; and your credit card will then be charged $69.95. The 30 days was to be counted from the date they mailed the product to you. I went for it, using my credit card. The next day I found Hoodia cheaper, so went on-line and tried to cancel the order, but there was no site to do that. Their trial product arrived a week later; I returned it 2 days after I got it. A week later, I saw a pending charge on my credit card for $69.95. I figured the Hoodia company would cancel their order after receiving my trial bottle back, unopened. The 30 days hadn't even ended, they had their returned product, and they already have my $4.95 and the $69.95 from my credit company. I went on-line to find HoodiaPlexLabs. This was where I found that others have been taken by this company.
The Hoodia site only gives various explanations of Hoodia, no way to reach the company. The full bottle arrived, yesterday, Mar.1 in a brown paper envelope. Return address is: HoodiaPlexLabs 10161 Park Run Dr. #150 Las Vegas, NV 89145. Now I see, on your site, a Hoodia scam has occurred in early Feb. Well, these people are still running their scam. Hope this helps.
My credit card company has credited the $69.95 back but says Hoodia can still take it out in the future, if they find I'm the one in error. I have tried to explain to them that this was a scam, and I had tried to contact the company, but there is no way to do so. I have found that I can't take Hoodia, anyway. It causes rapid heart palpitations, so I don't need it.
Jennifer of Littleton CO (02/18/08) I saw an advertisement for weight loss pills that I thought sounded promising. The advertisement stated that it had been endorsed by Oprah. It also stated that I could try a 10-day supply for free, just pay shipping and handling. I paid the $5.95 cost for shipping and handling and then - to my surprise - as of today, I have been sent 3 separate orders (orders I never requested or authorized) and my bank account has been charged 3 separate times in the amount of $69.95 each. During this time I was hospitalized for depression and going through a divorce. I have not looked into this scam, nor have I taken any action until now. I do not want to be charged again but cannot seem to find a working phone number for HoodiaPlex Labs. My husband always told me not to trust anything on the internet but I have always been naive and trusting -not any more! Thank you for having a place for me to go to complain. Now if I could only have someone to contact to get a refund.
Julie of San Antonio TX (02/15/08) I ordered a free sample of Hoodia capsules and gave my credit card number for the shipping charges of $6.95. Every month since then I have been billed for $69.95 for additional bottles, which I did not order and certainly do not want of this worthless stuff. The phone number is out of service, so I cannot get in touch with anyone. HELP, HELP, HELP!
I have spent over $400 for nothing. I returned all of these unopened shipments TO SENDER, and I have received no refund of my money. I am elderly and on fixed income and fell for this scam; and it is now keeping me from getting medications that are essential for my health problems.
Shirley of Anacortes WA (02/12/08) I ordered a free sample of Hoodia capsules and gave my credit card number for the shipping charges of $6.95. Since then I have been billed every month for $69.95 for additional bottles, which I have not ordered, nor do I want. I cannot get in touch with anyone, the phone number is not in service.
I would like to have the charges removed and a credit issued to my account.
Michele of Decatur GA (02/11/08) I truly believe theses products are just being used because of the High Profile Celebrities like Oprah push their products. I spent over one hundred dollars or more for nothing, believe me it didn't work. Oprah need to be truthful and honest. She is just making money for letting them use her name. I also try that Chinese diet Tea, onces again with Oprah and it didn't work. Just money, they're getting Paid big money, while the consumer is broke. Oprah or whomever, just be honest and trustworthy.
Prencis of Andover NJ (02/04/08) I ordered a 10-day free trial of Hoodia Complex from the advertisement on the Oprah website and now am being charged $69.95 per month. It is being automatically deducted from my bank account. When I try to call the number provided to cancel or complain, the number is out of service. This feels like a scam, and I am surprised Oprah endorsed it.
Maureen of Washingtonville NY (01/28/08) I ordered a free sample of the Hoodia product as endorsed by Oprah on her show. I did not wish to continue with the product since I did not see any result. I have received a bottle of this inferior product that I do not want and was charged $99 for the past three months. My bank has reversed the charges each month (thankfully), but I cannot get this company to stop. There has to be some way all people affected by this scam can get together and stop this.
Nancy of Huntersville, NC (01/19/08) I signed up for a 10 day sample of Hoodia Complex, supposedly endorsed by Oprah. I was charged $6.95 for shipping. Then for the next three months, I've received another bottle, unordered and charged $69.95 each time. This month, I received two bottles.
The phone number is out of service. If you research on the internet, you will see people are having a difficult time getting reimbursed.
I am $300 out of pocket.
Shelia of Glasgow KY (01/06/08) I ordered a free trial sample of Hoodia Complex with green tea and shipping charge was $6.95 and then I get a $69.99 charged to my credit card and a 30 day supply that I did not order. I called the 800 number and it is not a working number anymore. Then I tried to find a website and it sent me to the Rip-off report site. I am upset beause I am single mom on a budget. I will never order anything again that says it is free. Now I am having problems with my credit card company on reversing the charges and stopping the future monthly payments to this company. I have had to put a block on my credit card but my credit card company still tells me that a charge could continue to appear each month because it is an automatic transaction and all I can do is file a complaint each month that I get the charge and then they will contact the company with my complaint. What a mess. I plan on cancelling my credit card and transfer the balance to another card . This is the only way to make sure they don't continue to charge my account.
I am single mother on a budget and this has caused my credit card payment to go up to more than I can afford in my budget becase I had christmas gift charges on there already at a set limit for myself so I could afford the payments but now this makes it more than my budget will allow. I also have medical bills that I am paying on from a sudden accute illness and this creates more stress on me financially and mentally. I'm glad this was not on my debit card or my account would probably be overdrafted by these continued charges each month.
Rose of Deerfield Beach FL (01/03/08) I order a free sample of Hoodia diet pills. 3 days after I received the free sample, I got a regular size bottle of about 90 pills. The company took $69.95 out of my checking account. I never had a chance to even try the product. I did not expect to get the order so soon. I sent the bottle back. I got a receipt from the post office. I cannot cal the phone number. The recording says it is temporarily out of service. This is poor business and I have been scammed.
Hoodia took $69.95 out of my checking account. I want a refund. I sent the bottle back.
Lisa of Morganton NC (12/23/07) On 10/17/07, I ordered a 10-day supply of Hoodia Complex with Green Tea from a pop-up advertisement (supposedly endorsed as well by Oprah Winfrey) indicating it was a free sample whereas the consumer was to pay for shipping and handling. I received the product and the shipping and handling fee was debited from my checking account. On 10/29/07, I discovered another debit from my account in the amount of $69.95 from this same company. Upon calling them immediately, they indicated that I only had a 10-day period in which to cancel. Nowhere on that pop-up advertisement did it say anything about a membership or a 10-day cancellation period. The customer representative of this company directed me to their main website (www.Lipoplex.com, 800-597-8654 or 800-597-8533, also d.b.a. IP Steel Bridge Medical, 6170 W. Lake Mead Blvd., #518, Las Vegas, NV, HoodiaPlex Labs, 10161 Park Run Drive, #150, Las Vegas, NV).
In that website, it indicated a 14-day cancellation period and also indicated a club membership. Based on the dates of order and date of attempted cancellation, I was well within that 14-day period to cancel and obtain a refund. She informed me I had a 10-day cancellation period (nowhere available in writing), however, and refused to refund my account. This is clearly fraudulent and misleading advertising and poor business practice. Additionally, upon doing further research on the internet, I have become aware that many people have been bilked out of their hard-earned money with the same misleading advertising. I also filed a report with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in Nevada. After their investigation into this matter, I was informed that they attempted to mediate but with unsuccessful resolution of the matter (in terms of refunding my account). After visiting the BBB, doing a search on this company, there are several complaints with this company. In fact, the BBB even indicated on their website that this company claims to be a member of the BBB, but it is not!
Though I was charged an additional $69.95, many others were charged $99 or more. In fact, many complained that they could not get through to customer service in order to cancel and have had these amounts debited from their accounts or charged to their credit cards for months. I do not know if I will recover my loss, but I feel compelled to write on behalf of myself AND others who are losing money to this company under false pretenses. This company is literally making thousands of dollars, probably daily, with their false advertising, unavailable customer service representation, and deceptive practices. Businesses like this one should not be able to continue unjustly scamming people out of their income and sustenance. Thank you very much for your consideration in this matter.
William of Charleston SC (12/14/07) Hoodia fusion has a fraudulent ad online for trial supply of their product. I ordered it, and it never arrived, but the trial was only $4.95 so I didn't worry about it. Now I have received another bill, for $89.97. I have tried to phone, email, do everything. The phone numbers run in circles, the email returned to me as undeliverable. And they are stating I agreed to something, but this is not the case; they cannot give me proof of the order or proof of the agreement.
Cecelia P. of Apo OTHER (08/09/07) i ordered a 6 months supply of Hoodia Gordonii Plus, with a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. What a mistake that was This company Ultra Herbal, makes it IMPOSSIBLE for you to return the products! Still, even though they charge you $20/bottle fee to return it, i wanted at least SOME of my money back. I originally applied a month after i started the pills, and was denied because it was too early. They said i have to wait until ALL BOTTLES are finised. I applied for the RMA in June, which was the eligible period and my request was IGNORED!!! NO one got back to me EVER! SO i applied again in Aug, and i was denied again! WHy is it that my ELIGIBLE refund request was IGNORED, yet the other two were PROMPTLY DENIED!? THIS IS A SCAM!! BEWARE!!! HOODIA DOES NOT WORK AT ALL & YOU willNOT get your money back!!
LOST $160 plus shipping!
Nikki of Covington GA (12/14/06) I, too, ordered the trial from Burnfat.com late one night. I never used it then got the charge for 99.90 and one bottle for one month! I sent it back demninding a refund. She closed my account and said it would be refunded when it was returned. Only the mail lady entered Ontario Canada instead of California. Needless to say--That refund never happened. But the account was closed. Then several months later, a 69.95 charge appeared with no shipment. I disputed this w/my bank and they refunded me the money on 9/11 then the same day a charge was added to my account for Lean RX for 79.95. I disputed this charge too and the bank told me to call the company and try to get the money back. All I got any time was a recording. Then the bank reversed their credit this time. I had my debit card changed for fear they would continue this raping of my account!
Sondra of Santa Maria CA (11/28/06) I ordered a free trial offer for Hoodia. I paid for shipping and handling with a debit card--Big Mistake. In the past year I have had misc. unknown debits to my checking account--the only product I ever received was the free sample. My account was charged $99.00. I called for a refund and was told it was too bad I did not receive the product as it was shipped. No Refund. In September 08,2006 my account was again charged $79.95. It took dozens of calls to 800 296 2029. I finally spoke with Daisy who said it had not shipped so she was to refund the $79.95. She gave me confirmation number 5368687. If I had a problem I was to call 909 947 2710...this number Is for Nova Point....the will only transfer to Lean RX . A machine answers and the calls a never returned. I have been ripped off. How can I stop the charges to debit card?
$99.00 plus 79.95 charged for products I did not receive.
Rose of Livermore CA (11/03/06) Around 10/13-10/15 I ordered a free sample of Hoodia pills. Believe all I was paying for was the shipping. I have the statement online on my bank account $4.97 charged for shipping on 10/13 or 15. Now it's 11/03/2006 I still have not recieved the free sample and also Suddenly I have $99.41 dollars missing from my bank account. I called my credit union they said to call 801-253-7770 and was referred to 1800-757-1279 to speak with Chantel the manager. I told her I never recieved my sample plus now I'm charged for a 2 month's supply of something I do not know if I like it. It hasn't even been a month yet, since I purchased the free sample and did not even recieve it. What's up with this?? She says they do not do refunds and the 2 month's worth is already shipped out. Probably will never see that shipment either. Now because of a shady company all of us on this consumer complaint report site and many more have all been scammed.
Kelli of Sicklerville NJ (10/23/06) I ordered a free Hoodia sample on line after seeing it advertised on Dateline. I was responsible for shipping only. I received the pills. About a month later my debit card was charged $99.00. Then on 9/5/06 I had another charge of $79.95 from Lean Rx. I called the 800# & got a message stating to leave my & someone would call back, but no one ever did. I did an online search & apparently many people were scammed the same way I was.
I wasn't expecting those charges so I bounced checks. I didn't have the money for this. Now I'm scared this will keep happening!
Linda of Waterloo IA (10/09/06) Other address I was given PO Box 125, Draper, UT 48020 and other phone number is 800-370-7271. I ordered a free sample of Hoodia online in March 2006. I received 2 bottles with a $99.90 charge prior to receiving my free sample. I then received 2 separate shipments which were free samples. I paid the shipping fees ($3.95 for one and $5.95 for the other). I then received yet another shipment of Hoodia for $97.41. When I received the first shipment with the $99.90 charge, I called to cancel.
Each time I was told the account was cancelled but they would not refund me. When I was charged for the 2nd shipment I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there wasn't a supervisor to speak to. I called several more times and tried to get more demanding about a refund each time. I was told 3 times that I would get a refund but never have gotten it. I called my credit card company in June or July to have the charges reversed as unauthorized. I was told that you have to be careful when you order online, there is fine print that gives the company you ordered from the right to charge you, so it is not considered an 'unauthorized' charge. Therefore, the credit card company wouldn't reverse the charges. They told me because of the fine print, I did authorize all the charges.
I returned all the bottles of Hoodia to the Utah address with a letter included. Received no response. I have written to both the CT and UT addresses requesting a reversal of the charges - haven't heard anything. I still have the UPS receipt showing that I shipped the items back. I also verified with UPS that the shipment was received and noted this in the letters. It all leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like such a sucker!
My credit card bill is high and another $200 on it pinches my budget that much more. I think it's more physical because I can't believe I was such a dummy to think I could get a free sample to see if the product worked for me. I shouldn't have wanted the easy way out but was hoping the Hoodia might help give me a little start in the right direction.
Jolana of Falls City NE (09/26/06) I had ordered the free sample of Hoodia for the $3.95 and also ordered the first shipment of like $100.00, then after canceling, they continued TWICE TO TAKE $79.95 from my account, only using LEAN RX as the name and a CA phone number which i left ENDLESS MESSAGES and never did talk to a live person, NOR did anyone ever call me back as ASKED THEM TO DO? I also did not get two more packages EITHER!
Darla of Danville PA (09/20/06) On March 13,2006 I ordered a free sample ofHoodia Thin (14 capsules) and paid the 4.95 with my debit card. After I got the Hoodia Thin I cancelled the order. On my bank statement it had Burn Fat2/Hoodia66-BurnFat Hoodia and the phone Number 1-800-370-7271. I had not heard a word from them until Sept.5,2006 LeanRx took 79.95 out of my checking account. On my bank statement it hadLean Rx Ontario Ca. 1800-296-2029. I called the number about 15 times and all I get is a women telling me that someone will be with me in a few minuets. I wait and then a man comes on and tells you to leave your phone # and a message and they will call you back,
No one has called me back so I called my credit union and told them what happened and cancelled my debit card and had to pay 10.00 so this Co. can't take any more money out of my account. I have tried to call the 1-800-370-7271 and that number has been disconnected. I got on a Rip Off Report web sight and found out this Info. I filed a report on there site too. I just don't know why these people after all this time just take you money for nothing. I hope they are caught and put in Jail.
I was real upset when I found out money I have to live on month to month was taken without my consent. I am so glad I did not have any other checks out that when Lean Rx Hoodia took 79.95 that I didd't have any checks bounce. I need my money returned and so do all the other people that they ripped off.
Heather of Ronkonkoma NY (09/06/06) I saw an Internet deal from Hoodiaforfree.com back in March/April 2006 for $3.95 they said they would send me these hoodia 66 weight loss pills. Then they charged $98.00 and automatically enrolled me in auto pay shipment after the two $97 charges. I had cancelled the whole thing a few days after the two initial 3.95 charges. Now 5 and 1/2 months later they are charging me two charges of 79.95. The numbers I had to call to not work and the website is gone.
By taking the money from my account which is linked to my checking account they have overdrawn my account.
Kengela of Bronx NY (04/25/06) I called to try the new diet pill Hoodia through a company called TruGenix and a few hours after agreeing to try the hoodia for a 15 day trial period I called back to request to cancel any further orders b/c I wanted to only try the pills that were already on the way. The individual I spoke with said no problem. I made it known to him that it's a possibility that I may forget to cancel if I no longer want to use the product so I said please cancel anything else that may be charged to my account in case I don't like it (which I didn't).
About 2 weeks ago I received two big bottles of Hoodia and also checked my account. I was charged $99.00 by this company. I was furious. I called and spoke to a lady named Desiree who said to me that I did not cancel it, according to her records, and also that she could cancel it then but can not refund my money. I told her the bottles were not opened and I could return them. She was not allowing that. She wouldn't even give me to her supervisor. She said she was in charge which is hard to believe. She gave me a PO Box address and that's as far as I got with her. Must I add, she was very rude and acted as if my complaint was a joke.
Becky of Anaconda MT (03/27/06) AOL had the advertisement for Hoodia as advertized on Oprah... Because Hoodia was advertized by Oprah, I bought a $5.85 sample bottle...my debit card was charged $99.90 because even though the web site stated this would not be a membership, the outsourced telephone 1-866-370-7271 service said tough/ no supervisor available..I did get them to cancel all shipments and agree to no further monies being taken/ the $99.90 being a loss.
Nancy of Riverside CA (03/23/06) Was offered free 14 day supply of Hoodia which would have to be canceled to receive no more. I received a 4/12 day supply 14 capsules; instructions take 1-2 caps. 30 min. before meals. I did not remember how to cancel further mailings and debits,I called, but no one got back to me and the www.hoodiaforfree.com site does not come up nor anything under Hoodia Thin except other complaints of scam.
There is no damage yet, but I wanted to file a complaint based on what has happened thus far because other reports say people were subsequently charged $99 and no further product was sent.
Tara of Pleasantville NY (03/21/06) I got a pop-up on my browser telling me this website www.hoodiaforfree.com. Now, this sounds to me like a free product. I filled out the form that says to ship my 14 days supply for 5.95. Hoodia is a weight loss herb. Next thing I know, Im getting hit with a charge for 99.90 on my credit card bill! Not only that, but I also seemed to have gotten enrolled with this company called Efitnessclubhouse. They are at www.efitnessclubhouse.com (1800-757-1279) which also charged me for 2 enrollments of $28.97. I never wanted any of this from this company.
Now, the main thing is, I did some research and found this product Hoodia that this company at www.hoodiaforfree.com is most likely to be FAKE! There is a website called www.100hoodia.com. This site explains how to see knock-off Hoodia products. The company that charged me for this bogus product does not have a C.I.T.E.S. certificate. That stands for (the convention on international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora) They also do not show a USDA import permit and they don’t have a Alkemists lab results report which would show a lot number of the product that passed the HPLC/TLC and Microscopy tests. Also, this site says to stay away from Hoodia products that have other herbs and this one has 9 other herbs!
Karen of Yardley PA (03/15/06) I signed on to the Ultra Life website for a trial bottle of Hoodia and without my permission, became a member of e-Fitness Clubhouse weight loss program. After realizing that the pills were useless, I cancelled the autoship program and was never charged again. However, a few weeks later on February 6th, I found a debit in my checking account for $28.97 with the notation “DBT Purchase 8007571279 ecurves.com 888-2540054 UT”. I called immediately to inquire about the debit and, Tricia, a customer service representative, told me that I had joined the program. When I told her that I’d like to cancel (since I never used the website), she informed me that I could not cancel by phone. I needed to go on the website www.ecurvesclubhouse.com and sign in with a username and password. Quite frankly, I had no idea what she was talking about since I was unaware of a password or username.
I explained that I had received no notification of this information and therefore had never been on the site and asked if she would refund the money. She curtly refused and further stated that if the amount was investigated that a collection agency would be notified and my credit rating would suffer. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she told me she was the supervisor. When I asked the name of a senior member of the organization, she refused to give me that information. But my tale of woe is not over yet. On March 7th, another debit in the amount of $28.97 showed up on my account. This time my husband called and received the same rude and insolent attitude.
I have now spent $57.94 for a service that I have never used nor will ever use or recommend.
Deronda of Ocala FL (03/14/06) I ordered a free sample of hoodia gordoni at 1.99 postage. When I tried to cancel, I got the runaround. Left messages with no return call, went to websites and was referred to another and another. This went on for several weeks. They then charged 99.90 to my account and sent another shipment of the worthless goods. I returned the product and filed a complaint with my bank that I did not authorize. No resolution has happened.
I was charged another 28.97 and called the number on my bank statement and they said it was for a 'service' from fitness club that I joined when I got the free sample and that since I did not cancel they billed me and did not give refunds! They then gave me another website to go to and cancel. I don't know when this will end but I am not the only person this has happened to.
Merilyn of Columbia CA (02/12/06) The offer (at the web site http://sales.trugenixfitness.com) is for a diet pill called Hoodia. I decided to order it even though the cost of the shipping and handling was a whopping $8.97 for a very small bottle. I ordered on-line and the error message came up saying it did not go through so I tried again twice and the message said it did not go through. I decided it might be my credit card so I filled it out again using a different one and it finally appeared to have gone through. I checked my accounts a couple of days later and found that I had been charged three times on the first card and again on the second card. Fortunately for me the first card I had used refused payment on two of the charges because I did not have enough credit left, but I got charged once on each of my cards.
I called in and asked if one charge could be reversed and they said no. I then said please cancel any further shipments. She said she had cancelled for me, however, at the end of the trial period I saw a charge try to go through on my first card (it was refused)and one that did go through on my second card for an amount of $28.95 for a company called Hoodia and ecurves (I think that is the name) fitness club. I called again and they were very rude and said I had signed up for the fitness club at the same time I ordered the free hoodia product. I said I had not and they said it was in the terms and conditions. I said, as I recalled, I had read the terms and conditions. I went back on line and looked at the terms and conditions and it did say I was also signing up for the fitness club, but there was absolutely no mention of this on the main sign up page.
I called back and said CANCEL. She said I would have to do that on line at the fitness club site. I tried to go on to the site and it said I would need to sign in with a user name and password which I did not have since I had never gone to the site before and didn't even know I had signed up for it. I called back and was rudely told to go back on with an ID and password they gave me. I went back to the site and tried it and an error message came up that my membership had expired. I had to call again (each time I called, I had to wait an inordinate amount of time before anyone answered) This time I demanded that I get my money back and that they get my account cancelled somehow themselves. I was told they would not refund my money and they finally said they cancelled my account for me.
Kristi of Knoxville TN (04/07/04) Product did nothing to reduce my appetite. Web site said 30 day money back garantee. Requested several times to get my money back. They wrote back for me to submit unused portion. I did so by USPS and submitted sales receipt. Now they say they will not refund my money because I did not supply a confirmation number. I am out both product and my money. I am wondering if this could possibly be a scam. I've heard that there are lots of fake hoodia product out there. If I cannot get my money back, I hope that my experience can be helpful to others so they do not make the same mistake.
I am out $43.80- a costly mistake on my part.
