These days, they have stupid event for teenagers. Free trial for summer season. I understand they try to catch the potential customers. However, how about existing customers??? We're paying the fee every month even though it is a small amount of money. The kids are scattered across the gym, playing in groups. The machines are taken by them. The waiting time is longer than usual. They don't even know basic gym etiquette. Why doesn't Planet fitness realize that this event hurts existing members? At the very least, they should have set a time limit that only allows them a designated amount of time. I wonder who planned such a stupid event!!!!

I have been a long time paying customer but have gotten fed up with the gym allowing kids to go for free. They go to hang out and sit on equipment and playing on phones, so the customers who pays the bills there cannot use any of the equipment. Canceling my membership after 10 years there. Would not recommend to anyone who actually works out. Planet Fitness does not care about paying customers.

I canceled my membership over the phone with the thief 'manager' in April. I explained I can't come in just to cancel!(how ridiculous anyway!). I've been disabled since activating... So obviously I can't/couldn't use the membership! Duh. So I emailed a total of 2x stating I'm disabled and to cancel it! Yet...today(5-28-26), I see the criminals stole $35 from my bank account. I'll badmouth this 'co.' until the day I die.

This review is for the Forest Hills location in Queens, NY. The club is constantly crowded, there are no available lockers, and the space is hot, especially in the summer, even though the place is in the basement. Most of the machines are permanently reserved, and there is a line to use them. Per the staff, the club's capacity is 250 people, but there are only 65 lockers in the men's section. With the ratio of men to women about 65:35, the number of lockers should be 2.5 times higher, ie. 160 lockers. The crowd of people exercising generates heat, but the AC does not keep up, or is intentionally set to low temperatures and high humidity.

The staff is rude. They charge you even after you cancel. You can't get anyone to leave from behind the counter to help anyone. They will NOT get anymore money from me. I joined a place that cost a little more money, however, it is better service and the staff is so helpful and very nice.

I overheard the manager (Chelsea) at Planet Fitness in Somers Point bashing and belittling an employee to another employee! She was talking about a young girl who hasn’t been there very long. She must be a terrible manager because her comments were sexual discriminating and disrespectful. I can’t believe a manager would talk about her employees like this to other employees and laugh about it! I feel terrible for whoever she is talking about! This was in an area of the gym where others could hear, I was shocked! This is a Human Resources nightmare!

I had the worst situation at Planet Fitness today. Her name is (Mel) Planet Fitness in Elgin Illinois. I lost my son and have extreme anxiety and PTSD. I’m on disability because of my symptoms. The only way I feel like I’m not numb is to go to Planet Fitness and now I am dropping my membership because of the employee Mel location in Elgin Illinois on Randall Road. The way she bullied me is unimaginable and she would not stop. She kept on gaslighting me. I’m looking for a lawyer. I left with my anxiety and PTSD 100 times worse. I had my membership before I lost my son and took a long, long break after my son’s passing. I still paid my membership because of being detached from anything so technically I’ve been a member for over a decade now. I’m dropping my membership because of (Mel). I will never go to another Planet Fitness again. Shame on Planet Fitness for hiring someone like this so-called woman. She is evil.

So I get hit for a charge for 69 bucks, which I have no idea why you can tell I haven't even went so they charge from a completely different thing called ABC pf Philadelphia mayf instead of the usual Planet Fitness then y'all tell me I can't leave and pretty much I have to pay for a month service when you been paid already for March and April services. I've been a member for many years and I welcomed the new changes, But it has been a disaster for me going to the different gyms to find comfort or to be able to use the washroom, or water fountain, or massage chairs, I was not able to take advantage of all that Planet Fitness offers but I'm still being charge full fee.. So disappointed in that we should have gotten a discount or something.. I am looking for another gym to join... The managers did not have a humble attitude about this situation like planet is the only gym in town... Not satisfied at all with the shitty construction going on...

I would have given Planet Fitness 5 stars, except for one reason - High school students admitted free over summer vacation. I realize that the policy is well-intentioned. So why would I object? Allow me to lay out my concerns with the following bullet points:
* They seldom come alone. They, much more frequently, come in groups of two to four individuals.
* By coming in groups of three or four, they tie up the equipment for as much as an entire session by taking turns and chatting or horseplay between sets.
* By spending long periods at one piece of equipment, the paying members are deprived from getting the full advantage of what they are paying for.
NOTE: Because of this, I froze my membership for one summer and went back to another gym. Also, I know of more than a couple of members who have quit Planet Fitness for this very same reason - NOT GOOD FOR BUSINESS! At least one would think.
* These teenagers are hard on the equipment. They want to appear macho and take on far more weight than they can handle, resulting in dropping the weights with an ear-popping bang.* They are emboldened when they come in with their buddies by being rude and boisterous. There were a few times when they did not give adequate space to the person working out next to them. There was a time or two when they had to be addressed in order that they give some breathing space.
* They seldom use the cardio equipment. They make a dash straight for the cables, Smith machines, and free weights. The weight resistance area at all Planet Fitnesses is small; therefore, even when the kids are not at the gym, use of weight equipment can be a premium.
In conclusion, I believe that this program has been going on for at least four years. I absolutely dread facing another summer there this year. I truly wish that Planet Fitness would reconsider the merits of this program.

Went and signed up to get on massage chair. Went up to counter and was totally ignored by the trainer Keith. He was drinking a drink looking at his phone, I asked, "Can you help me? I signed up for a massage chair." He said, "I have class." I waited for the other gentleman to come to the counter to let me get the massage, looking at his phone was more important than helping me. A lot of people in the gym told me he treats everyone like that and I shouldn’t feel ignored. Very rude he is. It would have only taken a second to let me get the massage I signed up for.

I have had to change to multiple home gyms cause I have had an accident and lost my job and by the way the gyms are not all the same as they advertised. Anyways my billing has gotten messed up due to me trying to get my insurance to help me with it due to my psychiatrist says it helps me get out and associate since I can no longer eat food. I have a permanent feeding tube. I feel like they are trying to get rid of me because I always pay 25.50 and the yearly thing but my parents just got it caught up on the March 17 which is my bill due day so on March 18, 19, and 20 I checked to make sure 100% that March was paid for and this has happened one other time so I screen shot it. It said, "0.00 balance. Your next payment of 25.50 is due April 17, 2026."
So I check my account on March 21 to go and work out and it said I owe March’s dues and I also have a 15.00 late fee. That is not right. I'm March 17 and the 18 19 I did not owe it but I all the sudden do plus a late fee when I could had paid the 25.50 or owed it. I am on -‘0- income and I have a lawyer and have applied for Disability and just waiting on that to go through. So I am going on no money besides what my family can help me which I don’t have. Any around here. So I use the shower a a lot before going to the Dr. and my Dr feels like I need the social part of it because I have limited myself to church and most time I have panic attacks there. I just wish I could get someone to help me. Because I even asked about a discount just for a couple of months with a drs note that I needed the socialization and they said that was but an option.

Daly City - it took them years (at least six years) to finally sell protein drinks. Today there is a sign on the refrigerator that says “cash only!” - with an exclamation point. Two of the StairMasters are broken, and they only have five total. As usual, on a busy Saturday, there is only one person behind the desk. As often happens, the full body enhancement room is “not working.” Open people are not using equipment correctly and no one ever says anything – probably because there are so few people working there at one time. I have used several other Planet Fitness gyms and Daly City is by far the worst.

I have a very lengthy review to give about this location. (1) I had a membership there for the past 2 years. Never had any encounters with a staff members until March 10th 2026. There are a few situations I have observed at this location that I would like to bring awareness to. Myself and a couple members were working out at the Rockaway Location Brooklyn NY when a staff member decided to put the equipments back in its rightful place. She proceeded to ask (with attitude) a member to remove one of the weights from the space where a bench normally sits.
She then drags the bench to the front and slams it to the floor. Everyone is looking at each other. Myself and that individual had a couple words exchanged, nothing physical only a verbal interaction, where I told her about herself which I assumed pinched her nerve or damaged her ego. Now because of this My membership was canceled .I would like to know if persons are not entitled to express themselves anymore? In an era where we preach freedom of speech...
(2) The District Manager is an embarrassment to the gym and standards that should be upheld by authority. This woman is very huge, untidy and can hardly go up and downstairs, she allowed an unstable person to enter the gym without membership, he was able to reach as far as downstairs where he was walking around proceeded to lay on the hydro bed, invading person's space etc until she had to be alerted to get him out .Now what if this man had a weapon things might have had a wrong outcome.
(3) If you have a complaint about Planet Fitness, who do you go to? I reached out to the location to get information for the superiors of this corporation. They gave me a fake email address. I WOULD like to know if this is the way planet fitness value and treat customers who support their business and helps put monies in their pockets. Well My advice to any Melanated people, planet fitness are the biggest users in the gym industry, they figure because the membership is cheap, they can treat us like a piece of garbage, the facility is not cleaned as it should be, the toilets smell most of the times.
It's like the staff cannot be bothered too much. The female in question is always full of attitude and has a very unwelcoming presence at the desk. Yes I feel a bit upset about the incident which occurred however This gym do not deserve our hard earned money to treat us like we are not suppose to speak up in situations where you feel uncomfortable. Do not give these people your money. Go to another Gym. Do Not, invest in a gym where you would be treated with respect and fairness.

My husband and I go to the club in Milton. We like the staff, but I don't like their housekeeping. First of all, in the ladies bathroom stalls the corners are full of cobwebs from floor to ceiling. Don't know when the last time someone really mopped the locker room or if anyone actually cleans it and not touch the toilet stalls. Second, paper towels supplies aren't managed well. Most of the time there's very little or no paper towels at the cleaning stations. Hard to wipe the machines down if there's no paper towels. It's not the job of the members to remind the staff to check the supplies at the cleaning stations. When you see 2 people standing behind the counter, one checking people in and the other just standing leaning against the back counter, why aren't they checking the supplies. And running out of paper towels is not a good answer if someone was properly taking inventory and ordering what is needed so they don't run out.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, my experience at this location has been extremely disappointing and mishandled from start to finish. I originally became a member in 2022 at $10 per month. In March 2025, when I returned to the club, I was informed that I had a past-due balance that needed to be paid in order to move forward. I paid the balance in full and specifically requested to cancel my original 2022 membership. At that same visit, I chose to upgrade and sign up for the Black Card membership at $24.99 per month. I signed the necessary documents, was issued a Black Card, and was told everything was taken care of.
In May 2025, I canceled the Black Card membership as well. However, as of February 2026, I am still being charged $10 per month for the original 2022 membership — a membership I explicitly requested to cancel in person and was told required no further action because I was upgrading that same day. When I called to resolve the issue, the employee who initially answered the phone was professional, kind, and understanding. She identified that two memberships were active and offered to leave a message for the General Manager, Kyle. When Kyle became involved, the resolution process took a disappointing turn. I was initially offered three months of charges plus the annual fee as reimbursement.
When I explained that I have been charged for approximately 12 months after canceling in person — totaling far more than three months — the offer was reduced to $25 with the statement that it was “take it or leave it.” The conversation became unprofessional, and I was spoken to in a raised and dismissive manner. This is not simply about $10 per month. It is about accountability, proper training, and respectful treatment of long-term members. I canceled in person, followed the instructions given to me by staff, signed documentation, and trusted that the matter was handled correctly. The continued billing appears to be the result of internal error, yet the responsibility to resolve it fairly has not been taken.
As a paying member for years, I expected professionalism and a reasonable effort to correct a clear mistake. Instead, I was met with resistance and a minimal settlement offer that does not reflect the total amount improperly charged. Due to the failure to resolve this matter appropriately at the club level, I will be pursuing further action to formally dispute the charges and escalate this issue with corporate and any appropriate consumer protection channels. I would have much preferred to resolve this directly and amicably, but the handling of this situation has left me with no other reasonable option. No member should be treated this way, especially after making a good-faith effort to follow proper cancellation procedures.

I signed up for Planet Fitness as a spur of the moment decision. A month later, having never even gone in, let alone used it, and with no plans to, I decided to cancel. It turns out that the annual fee was due 5 days after my cancellation. I had no issue with paying the monthly fee, as I was a member at that time, even though I hadn’t gone in. I spoke to an employee at the location who agreed with me that I was canceling before the due date for the annual fee, so I shouldn’t have to pay. In order to cancel online though, you have to pay the annual fee. I was told by this same woman to call back and speak to the manager, and he might give me a refund.
I called a couple of days later when the manager was in, and I was told very dismissively that I would have had to notify them 7 days before the date the annual fee was due to get the refund, which no one had ever bothered to tell me, and there was nothing he could do, even though when I had spoken to someone at the Planet Fitness national corporate number, and was told that it was up to the individual locations to decide whether to give a refund. Negative experience with a company that clearly puts its profits far ahead of its members, and will take a fee for a year's membership from someone who has been a member for 1 month, and has never even entered the facility. I called corporate and spoke with someone that was able to simply help me. I was going every morning till I got the flu. Didn't feel like going nor did I want to pass the flu around. 3 weeks later I try to go back and I can't get in. I asked the front desk why and they couldn't tell me. Payment was automatic and scheduled for the 1st of each month. Usually my VA payment hits the bank 2 or 3 days before this. I tried calling corporate again and can't seem to get through.
