World Gym

Bill of Moses Lake, WA August 9, 2006

My wife signed up for a gym membership and told it was a one-year membership agreement. She did this while staying with me for a month. She is Canadian and we are in the middle of immigration proceedings. I have moved from the Minden, Nevada, area to Washington state. My wife continues to reside in Westbank, British Columbia, Canada. She called and informed them she wished to cancel the membership and agreed by phone to paying a one time fee to end the one-year service agreement, much like cellular phone service. A letter arrived indicating they would continue billing her through January 2007 for membership as there is no way to end service early. Can they continue to charge for a service they cannot provide? The nearest gym to her is a seven hour drive, two hours from my residence.

World Gym is demanding we pay 195 for access to a gym she cannot use.

Mark of Boca Raton, FL July 27, 2006

Beware of Worlds Gym devious contracts. I have been a member to numerous gyms and never had this devious clause in any other gyms contracts. After your contract expires in my case it was three years. I paid up front 1000 for 3 years. At the end of my contract I asked if there there any muliple year contracts available. No one ever got back to me so I went to LA FITNESS they had multiple year contracts. SO now a year has passed the gym contacted a collection ageny to collect 750.00 bacuse I never cancelled my contracted.

But I also never received a new membership card or any billing statements in the mail just a phone call from collections!!! One year Later!!! This tyoe of comntract has one purpose to legally steal money once someone leaves their gym plus they want 30-60 days notice or you can't cancel!! Why!! Because they want your money anyway they can get it!
