Hitachi

mr of tyne wear, United Kingdom June 17, 2009

i purchased a hitachi 42pd6600 and have problems from the first year, we have had six visits from the repair service and they said it is the memory and it will always happen, i think it is unaceptable and therefore think you should look at this television and repace it

Connie of Herringwells, Great Britain June 14, 2009

I purchased a Multi-system LCD by Hitachi. In less than one year I had sound but no picture. Called a TV repair service recommended by Hitachi - Sands TV Services in Norwich. I explained in detail the problem, model number, multi-system, LCD. I also provided them with my bill of sale so they could use for insurance purposes. They requested and I complied with their request. They informed me there would be a charge if they picked up the TV, provided the amount of the charge over the telephone, and I agreed with the amount.

They came and picked up the TV (still under warranty) and they called the following week the TV was ready for delivery. During that same week, prior to delivery, the repair service called on 3 separate times to remind me that I would have to pay 51.75GBP for delivery. Even my Secretary commented that it was strange once the appointment was set up for delivery why they would continue to call about the delivery charge. When the TV arrived, the delivery man set up the TV and stated it was working.

When I asked what was wrong with the TV he could not answer me. I paid him and asked him to call back to the office so I would know the problem. He called and stated they didn't have the part so it was never fixed - sorry! They couldn't have ordered the part? I gave them model number, stated it was a multi-system, etc. and they could not even refer me to a location that I could have it repaired.

I'm sitting in England with a TV that I can't even reach Hitachi (maybe a phone number would be nice) to get a TV still under warranty repaired! Day after TV was delivered, I paid the repair company for basically nothing, I receive a bill in the mail from the same repair company (just in case I wasn't going to pay the service delivery man, as I promised?)

This is almost harrassment with a TV that still does not work! Not even informing me that they did not fix the TV is just unbelievable. They must have known something was not fair with all the calls I was receiving about the payment due and knowing they had not told me they could not repair the TV. That is a very unfair business practice and IF I can ever find a phone number to Hitachi - I will report it immediately. I was charged 51.75 GBP and still do not have a TV that works and is under warranty. Apparently I have to go purchase another TV because I can't find through Hitachi someone that will fix it!

After just 24 months my 42HDT79 quit. For a long time it was making a clicking/relay sound intermitently while in standby. Now the boot-up sequence fails and the protection circuit cycles the set on and off every ten seconds or so. From what I know so far it will cost me 700 to 900 to fix. This is ridiculous...quality control, consumer support? Don't make me laugh. Called Hitachi and they tried blamming it on the Utility company.....Any idea how many other eletronic devices are in my house that DID NOT fail???? LOL Take some resposiblity guys......No more Hitachi electronics or power tools for me............JUNK

We purchased a Hitachi LCD Rear Projection TV #50V720 from Sears on 12/12/05. We paid 2466 which was the on sale price at that time. We did take out the extended Warranty which was included in that price. However, we did call and discontinue the extended warranty the following summer. We had to replace the lamp around the end of December 2008 which cost 150.00. About two months ago we noticed a blue haze in the center of the screen which is spreading and now has spots in the center.

We called Hitachi and since the set is no longer under warranty the expense of replacing the light engine would fall on us. The cost of that is approximately 1500 plus the cost of installation. Hitachi will not stand by their product. We have researched on line and this seems to be a widespread problem with these televisions. We paid a great deal of money for this product and knew we would have to replace the lamp which we have done.

We knew nothing about this light engine problem. If we had we certainly would not have purchased it and will never again purchase a product put out by Hitachi since they clearly will not stand by their product. We spent a lot of money for something that has to be discarded after 3 1/2 years. We are out over 2000 for a defective throw away product.

i have a hitachi 50v720 rear projection tv that is just over 3 years old and already on my third bulb. after a big red spot covered my screen, i called hitachi and they said it was more than likely the light engine. they told us to have a certified tech to come out and confirm it and they would consider replacing it but we would have to pay the labor. we did that and it cost 60.00.

when we called back they said no they wouldn't replaced it why did we think that. we told them what we was told to do by them and all they could say was i wasn't the one who told you to get a tech. now i am out 60.00 on top of 1600.00 for what a light engine will cost and 400.00 for the labor on a faulty 2400.00 tv.

We bought a Hitachi 50 inch TV. Within 18 months a large blue blob appeared on the center of the screen. It turned out to be the Light Engine. We repaired it. Hitachi provided the part, we paid for the labor. The new Light Engine offered poor-quality picture. Then three months after the repairs, a purple haze appeared. We're not spending any more money on repairs.

I bought a Hitachi 50inch HDTV about two and a half years ago. one day I turned the tv on and I had picture and no sound. I called a repairman to come fix it and he new exactly what it was, so 433 later my tv is now working again. About 2 days later I started noticing a big blue blob in the middle of the screen.

From what I have read I am sure that calling Hitachi will not do me any good. I will never buy another Hitachi product. I paid too much money for this tv for it to only last 2 1/2 years. model #50c20
