On10/14/2005 I bought aHitachi 55'' LDC Tv at a cost of2,899 Sence then it has been out of service 4 times. The last time is from 12/2/08 till now as of yet not fixed. Upon repeated calls i have been told that part is on back order and they will call. after every week i recall and get the same answer. On about 1/06/09 i called and was told that they was going to get a new part from diff sorce and would deffinatly be able to get it and would call with ETA. as of now still no call.

They have been informed that i have a handycaped grandson an that TV is a big part of his life. I allso am retired and love sports and had to watch Supper Bowl on 19'' Tv in computer room. I think that after all this time and at a cost of 100 to me for set to go to shop + laber that some thing needs to be done. Is there such a thing as a lemon law for TVs

Hardshipe for Grandson and wife that look at tv alot need to go to computer room and watch small tv. and i fallow all Wisc. sports and miss seeing them

I purchased a Hitachi 50v720 big screen television and it stopped working. I paid over 1500 for the television with a credit credit. The warranty has expired and the cost is ridiculous to get it fixed. I have searched the internet to see how common this problem is...and it is very common. This television should be on the recall list!

I can't watch this expensive piece of equipment taking up space in my house. It is too costly to trash it.

tv screen turns red, can't see picture

Paid over 3000 for a TV that you cannot see a good picture. I understand Hitachi was aware of the problem but kept on selling the TV.

Simply put we bought a Hitachi 50v720 rear projection TV 2 1/2 years ago and didn't purchase the extended warranty. Only because we figured if it lasted 5 years this would be OK.

2.5 years later we have encountered the blue blob effectwell documented in this and the 500 series. I understand the warranty part of the whole thing but they had a hard time convincing me that its typical of a light engine. What i cant believe is that one minute after a warranty expires they aren't going to do anything anyway, even if they know they were using faulty light engines. Bottom line we are stuck with a TV we can't watch, and whats worse is they don't care that their product only lasted 2.5 years.

We are out 2000.00 USD and can't watch the TV.

Defective Optical Light Engine in Hitachi 50V500 LCD Rear Projection TV. Screen has a Red Spot/Halo. Have discussed same problem with several Hitachi TV owners.  Hitachi has sent some owners a Optical Light Engine at N/C and have denied others including myself. Most owners purhased their TV's in 2004 and red spot/halo began after 2nd year of operation. Hitachi is not treating owners fair offering to send some a Optical Light Engine @ N/C and denying others. There is no set criterias.

I've contacted the Hitachi Consumer Affairs Dept. twice on via phone and by e-mail and they continue to deny me. Even if they send me the part @ N/C I still have to pay for installation which is 250 to 400. This TV cost 3,200.
