Hitachi

Kathryn of Pasadena, TX September 14, 2007

Kathryn of Pasadena TX (09/14/07)
In Nov. 2004 I bought a 42 Hitachi Plasma TV at Conn's. The 1st problem was that during installing the unit fingerprints were left on the screen and I never could get an answer as to how to clean the screen. Not a big problem and I just lived with it. Fast forward to June 2007. I turned off the tv one nght as usual, when I turned it on the next day there was only audio, no picture. I call my locally approved Hitachi repair store, A-1 Electronics. The 2 service men arrived in a timely manner and after working for about an hour to remove the tv from the wall mount (is this normal??) they talked to the office and were told the tv needed a vidio circut, that this would cost about 675 and would talk about 10 days to repair. Well, of course after 10 days it still wasn't repaired, they were waiting on the part.

After 20 days I called again and was told that Hitachi had sent the wrong part and it had been sent back. After another 10 days I called as was told that they got the part and were making the repair. After another week I called an was told that the part didn't fix the problem and that they had been on the phone with Hitachi several times about the problem. They said Hitachi said that several additional parts would need to be replaced to maybe fix the tv and that it would not be cost effective to make the repair. So now I have a non-working tv that cost me 3000 for less that 3 years of viewing. Hitachi never responded to my contacting them several times. Is this any way to run a business ? I don't think so and I will never buy another Hitachi product.

I purchased a projection TV from Circuit City on 11/22/2005. Model 51F710S, serial number V5D003514. Approximately May 2,2006, the TV quit after a spell of intermittant episodes where it would not turn on. I called Hitachi and got the name of the warranty service vendor in the town I live in -- University TV. They came out a week and a half later and checked out the tv and then went and talked to Hitachi and ordered a part. This part took about a week to get and another week for them to come back out. That did not fix it, so another part was order and another 2 weeks or more passed before that part was installed.

Now I have sound, but no picture. The shop says they have another part on order, but they have not called back to come out and put it in and it is now July 28,2006. I called them several times and have called Hitachi several times. I have talked to a lady at Hitachi several times. Her name is Dollie. She is nice enough, but really no help. She just tells me that the shop must call her back so she can expedite or help matters, and that they are not responding. She told me to have them call, and they told me they would, but have not according to her.

I have been paying for a digital cable package with a High Definition converter box now for 2 months with no tv watch it on. Also my 1 year parts and labor warranty is dwindling away each day.

Terri of Eastbernstadt, KY July 20, 2006

Terri of Eastbernstadt KY (07/20/06)
i purchased a Hitachi high definition television in November of 2005. The television went out in May of 2006. I contacted Hitachi for a in-home repair as it states in my warranty.  I have yet to have the tv repaired, the television repairmen stated that Hitachi hasn`t sent the part out and i contacted Hitachi last week to see why and they stated that the part would be overnighted to the repairman.  It still hasn`t arrived so I contacted Hitachi today and they said the part was on back order.

That was the same excuse that they gave me in June when i contacted them as to why it was taking so long to repair my television. It is now going on three months to have the television set repaired and i fell that is way too long to wait for a television that cost almost 2,000 to purchase.
