jamie of columbus, OH September 23, 2009 i bought a panasonic PT-44LCX65 and some green & red spots came on the screen about 11 months after i bought it. i called panasonic and they said it was the lamp bulb was probably going out and told me the store to buy the lamp for 350. so after about 5 months i purchased & replaced the lamp the results were the same. so i called panasonic back and they told me it had to be serviced so i paid another 200 for them to tell me that the protection module was bad and it would cost 1300 to repair. Gerardo of Toa Alta, United States September 21, 2009 I purchased a plasma tv TH-42PX60U on November 2006. A week before its one year anniversary the tv started showing red vertical lines which made it impossible to watch. After contacting the local authorized repair shop they came in and replaced the PDP panel with labor costs of 321. Less than a year after this by mid 2008 the tv set started acting up again with the same vertical lines. This time it took longer for the lines to impair viewing the tv. Now the repair company is estimating total repair costs to be 1,990 which is the same amount I originally paid for the set. The fact that these PDP panels have lasted for less than a year with very little use raises suspision about a defective design. Jeff of Marietta, GA September 19, 2009 Bulb went out and Panasonic doesn't offer the replacement bulb, just the entire housing which cost 250+ No authorized service centers willing come do a house visit. Going to be out 4-5 hours of my time, tv out for a week, and out of pocket 250+ Noel of Cape Coral, FL September 19, 2009 I own a Panasonic PT-50LC13, serial# B4AA10277. I have had numerous problems with the lamp. I was unaware of the class action lawsuit regarding the lamp. I contacted Panasonic over a year ago. They responded that I am not eligible for a replacement lamp because I had the store warranty which was still in effect. They also refused to grant me a rebate certificate. The television is once again not operating due to the defective lamp. I no longer am covered by the warranty. Do I have any recourse? Shawn of Corvallis, OR September 14, 2009 I paid 1,200 for a panasonic TH-42PZ77U and about 14-16 months after purchase, the set simply stopped working and showed a sequence of 7 blinking red lights. This set saw very gentle and light use during the time it worked, and was a beautiful and enjoyable television. With no signs of any problems, it simply stopped working. A google search immediately returned websites dedicated to people who have this same problem. A large number of panasonic sets supposedly shipped with faulty components with no assistance provided by the manufacturer. I proceeded to call customer support on 9/14/09 and was told I was outside of warranty and that I would need to pay to have this set fixed. I was not given any estimate of cost. I was told I may appeal the company for assistance but I can only do that AFTER I pay a 3rd party money to "evaluate" my set. I'm grateful I searched the internet first, to find that many people are forced to pay hundreds of dollars before any parts and labor are considered. If this is the same for my case, it will cost over half as much as the new item costs, a complete waste of money. And people still report multiple failures even after being fixed. When questioned about this being a problem, the customer service rep quoted me only a 2% failure rate and said there were no class-actions or recalls on this model. maria of joliet, IL September 14, 2009 I purchased a Panasonic HDTV last year and the lamp ty-la1000 has burned out. I have checked the website and see it cost over 200 for a replacement. I also see where this is a known issue to Panasonic about this defective lamp. I now have no tv and no money to get the replacement part I am stuck with a 1,000 tv that we can not use because the lamp is burned out. I am unemployed and can not even think about spending 200 for this replacement. What am I supposed to do with no tv. this has been a rip off if the company knew of this defect they should have pulled this product off the market. I do not know what to do. Kimberly of West Chesterfield, NH September 13, 2009 Panasonic Plasma tv TH-42PZ77U stopped working. Haven't even owned it for 2 years. It is going to cost over 500.00 to replace a circuit board. john of pleasant hope, MO September 12, 2009 At first the PT-61 deveoped red vertical line across the screen, now it turns itself of as soon as it comes on. William of Highland Falls, NY September 11, 2009 I purchased a Panasonic TH-42PX75U Plasma TV about 18 months ago and while watching tv, it just shut off. I didn't notice any blinking lights, which I have been reading about on different sites for similar complaints, and will not come back on. Cereza of Pensacola, FL September 10, 2009 We bought our PANASONIC PT-56LCX16 in April 2007 from Sam's Club and it just quit turning on a week ago. The green light on the power indicator in the front of tv would blink then the tv turns off as we see a red light on the lamp indicator beside the power indicator. Diagnosis is covered by the extended warranty, but the Sam's warranty rep said if the lamp needs replacement, then it will not be covered. That was when I researched on the Panasonic projection LCD lamps. Our model takes a TY-LA1001, which is the newer version of the TY-LA1000, which won in the class action settlement. I AM RECOMMENDING OWNERS OF THE NEWER MODELS, which utilize TY-LA1001 lamps, to come forward and let's see if we are bound for another class action suit, just a newer batch of the same defective lamps. | ||||
