Polaroid TV

Gabriel of Ellenton, FL November 11, 2009

In October 2007, I purchased a 42' Plasma HD Polaroid television at Walmart. Last week, 2 years later, the television stopped working. The red light stayed on, but the television would not turn on or off. We contacted Polaroid and they took our complaint. They said a representative would contact us within two business days; it has been two weeks. We called again and were kept on hold.

We wrote to Polaroid online and have not yet heard from them. We took the television to our local repairman and discovered that it would cost 600 to fix the television. They informed us that the heart of the television was dead. We cannot afford a new television at this time.

purchased polaroid tv from walmart in nov. of 2008. Approx. in June of 09 the screen went bad. After many calls and wasted time waiting to get customer service help, they told me to return the tv to CA for repairs. I spent over 30.00 on shipping (I'm in PA) and was just informed by the post office that the repair shop is closed and left no forwarding address. My tv useless, defective tv is supposedly on it's way back to me, but good is a piece of junk. I called the customer service number for polaroid again and now it's apparently out of service, because all I ever get is a busy signal. I have called in the morning, lunchtime, afternooon, evening, middle of the night - same thing - just busy. I'm also contacting the BBB to see if they can help.

I purchased a Polaroid TV 08/12/07. The DVD stopped working about 2 months after Warranty ran out. I noticed it kept cycling on and off. To stop this from happening I left a disk in the DVD. Two days ago I turned on the TV and the picture went blank and a puff of smoke billowed out the back of the TV. Having some electronic knowlege I removed the back cover and the control box. I was concerned, because the TV never shut down or blew a fuse. I removed the cover to the control box to see if it melted a component and could not see any obvious problem. My son went on line to this site and noticed aprox. 200 complaints all with the same symtoms and the difficulty trying to rectify the situation with little or no resolve. I called Polaroid to order the Video and Power Board (Proview). They told me that I had to order the complete contol box for 222.99 and said if I were to install it myself there would be no warranty. She also told me that these HDTV'S only have a life exspenisty of about 3 to 5 years. It will take about 6 to 10 days before I receive the replacement Part. It better work and work longer then 26 months.

I would sit and write about my problems with the 42 in Plasma Polaroid tv I bought at Wal-Mart but I'm not going to. Instead of all these complaints I believe the lawyers have seen enough of these complaints and why haven't they took some action and done something with the Polaroid company. What a rip off. The people answering the phones were very rude and gave me the run around. Polaroid should be sued and refunds to us all.

Well we bought a Polaroid TV with built in DVD player Nov 2, 2008. Within a few months the DVD player stopped reading DVD's and would make a clicking noise. After waiting on hold for close to an hours they told me I had to pay to ship it back. Over a month later I called and waited on hold about another hour to be told I never sent it in. So when I told them I had proof from the post office I got a new DVD player in the mail within a week. Now, 4 days after my 1 year warranty the "new" DVD player goes out again. (Same clicking noise as before and then says "No Disk".) So after waiting on hold 20 min. I get a guy and he tells me I've never called in before and when I tell him it shouldn't matter he takes my name and address and then puts me on hold for another 15 minutes before I have to hang up. After reading other complaints I'm waiting to see how much longer until the screen goes out completely. What a rip off!

Big expensive Polaroid TV 2 years old, "went out", no picture, called, they said 250 for control box, up front, then they will send someone to put it in, 6-8 weeks later....what a rip off, never will I ever buy another polaroid product of any kind. I see many complaints here on polaroid TVs, who knew!!

Linda of Salem, OR November 1, 2009

I purchased a 32" HD Widescreen LCD Poloroid TV about a year and a half ago. Just today I turned on my TV and all I get is sound. These products are made so these items we buy stop working just after the warranty is up. Is there anything we can do about this matter? I cannot afford to go out and buy another television. Funny though this is olmy website I have been to, look how many complaints are within days or daily. And right before Christmas when most were bought to begin with.

florence of jamaica, NY October 30, 2009
