RCA

Mark of Largo, FL September 24, 2009

Bought a 32" LCD Model # L32HD31 on 2/25/09. Two 4 days ago it just would not produce sound, picture or even a backlight... just a black screen. Called and after being on hold for 30 minutes was told to fax over receipt and then wait for 3 more days to call back to schedule a tech to come out. As instructed we called and again was put on hold for 20 minutes to find out that it would cost 99.95 for a tech. to service the unit and if replacement was necessary then they would mail me a label to send the unit back to RCA. Today, I just received a call from the repair facility and was advised that I would have to drive 2 hours to drop the TV off and if they had to come out it would cost 90.00 for the trip. We purchased a RCA because of the name and quality. Never thought they were this shady. NEVER AGAIN!

We have a 32" Flat Screen HD model L32HD31. We've had this TV for 9 mo. The screen started to get vertical lines where the volume appears in the far right. Then the screen faded from black on the lower left to white on the upper right at a diagonal. No sound, no menu, no picture! I called the Tech department at RCA/TTE Tech. I was put on hold for 25 minutes.... for the 3rd time. Was given an email address to send my receipt for the pop processing... whatever that is. Was told it would take 24-48 hours to receive a call back on the situation. Never received a call, 10 days later still no call. I decided to call again. This time the guy at TTE found my email and put me on hold again until he confirmed my warranty info. A total of 45 minutes wasted! Wanted to charge me 99.95 for a replacement TV. If I chose to go this route, they would send a form in the mail, I would take it and have it packaged at a UPS store to return to them. Once they received the TV, they would send out a new one. Obviously there has been a lot of trouble with this TV and brand. Needless to say, we chose not to pay the 99.95 - why should I have to pay anymore money on a TV that I already paid for?! And, would I get a new or refurbished TV?! And, when would I receive it?! I'm very disappointed with the service and the product. We chose to go with RCA because of the name. NEVER AGAIN! How can they get away with this!

Bought 32" Flat Screen and six months later has something "blow out" on the screen. Now half is in color and half is washed out and mostly white. Called the Service Center and after being routed to different numbers I was asked for my Credit Card to pay 95.99 for labor AND THEN someone would call me to see if it needed to go to a service center or have a someone come out and fix it. If someone needed to fix it they would then set an appointment time. Can't believe I have to pay more money ahead of time when it could take up to a couple of weeks for them to even decided if i need someone to come out!

I purchased a RCA 32 inch tv model # L32HD31 and it started making a buzzing sound. Called RCA tech and faxed in the receipt and was waiting on a call back and I never received it. I called them back with a wait time of about 40 minutes to find out I had to call another number. I called that number and finally was offered a replacement..I waited on a call back as I was instructed and again I had to call them another 45 minute wait. After all of this I was told that I had to pay a 99.99 labor fee for a replacement tv. I am waiting on the replacement and have yet to receive it. I called back and asked for the corporate office number and only and address is available.Mind you that I am without the tv during this time. Now, they have an additional 99.99 but cannot tell me when to expect to receive the replacement tv. The tv was only 6 months old and is supposed to carry a 365 day warranty. Why would I have to pay additional money when the Tv is still under warranty. I feel this is a ripoff.

Bough a 50 inch RCA TV and took out the service contract, after a year no picture, called Wal-mart and they sent out repair man, he said the lamp was burned out and that was not covered under the warranty, labor and lamp was about 600 to fix a 1200 TV, Wal-mart split the repair with me, 18 months down the road the lamp has failed again, I can order one for 400, and get free shiping, wow.

Total time out of tv 6 months and i still have no tv and two setting in my way that i cant find any one to work on them. 1,000 on the original tv that i bought and rca lying for months

Tina of Baltimore, MD August 17, 2009

I purchased a RCA 50" HD LP set model HD50LPW69 and 1 year and 3 days later the lamp went out. I called RCA they said this was not covered due to the 3 days past the 1 year warranty. I spent 400.00 and replaced the lamp. Now my set is less than 2 years old and it stopped working all together. The power light stays on and will not go off unless you unplug it. There is no picture and no sound at all. I had a TV repair look at it, they say 2 boards are bad! Not 1 but 2!

I had called RCA when I first had this problem for trouble shooting. They were not much help with that to begin with. They did not even to bother to listen. I said my set has no sound and no picture yet the power light is on. I was told to change the channel to a channel my set receives. I guess considering I was dumb enough to buy an RCA product in the first placve they thought I would fall for it. I will never purchase another RCA product ever! I suggest no one else does either. It is such a waste of money. The first 3 days of of warranty and the problems started! I believe they are on timers and and go up the minute the warrant runs out!I have purchased a new set by a different company. A company that offers a much longer warranty to begin with and also has a LEMON policy! My RCA would have been classified a lemon by any respectiable company!!

Donisha of Plymouth, MN August 12, 2009

I purchased an RCA Television (Model# HD50LPW175yx12) set July 2005. After one year 2006, I had to replace the color lamp (cost 150 OEM), which was expected. Exactly one year later, my T.V. Screen started to black out automatically, after about 30 mins. I informed RCA about this issue, and was advised that I needed to replace the lamp again. Which I've done. Only to find that the set still does not work.

Another call to RCA, and I was advised that I need to take the set to an authorized RCA service center. Which I did. I was then advised that it needed a Color Wheel and that after paying the 110.00 diagnostic fee, it would be an additional 400 (parts & labor) fee. I agreed to pay this, since I can't afford another t.v. set at this time. I received a call from the repair shop advising me that they have bad news, and that the color wheel for my set was no longer being manufactured.

I then called RCA to inform them of their findings. I was told to allow them 2-3 business days to perform a "global search" for the part. They were unable to locate the part. I was then told that I would need to give them an additional 3-5 business days for them to research their warehouse for a compariable model, I would then be contacted and made an offer of fair market value for my set.

Needless to say, I've not ever received a follow up call from RCA. Each time I've had to initiate contact. I learned today that they don't have another set in their warehouse to offer me, and that as soon as one becomes available I would be notified. I was NOT given any sort of timeframe. I do find it hard to believe that RCA does not have any compariable models. After reading all of the blogs posted on the internet, I do believe that I am out of 2000. Something has to be done, they should not be able to get away with this sort of robbery. It seems like the their units are set-up to malfunction after the warranty has expired. Is there some law that regulates how long companies manufactur parts to fix their faulty units?
