Lucas of Rockaway Beach, OR November 22, 2009 I bought a samsung LNT-4665f about a year and a half ago it had a year warranty.A month ago it started clicking and not turning on like everyone else and if it gets a picture its a rainbow of vertical lines. Ive called samsung they don't care. When i bought the tv I did alot of research everywhere. all the reseach said samsung was the tv to buy even consumer reports thats there job you think they could have told us to save the money and buy a cheap tv not talk samsung up like they were paid. If they tried the tv I cant beleive that non of them if not all of them have the same problem? G of Winter Haven, FL November 22, 2009 I have a HL-S5686W (approx 3 yrs old) and noticed a single white dot on the screen today. I expect to see more white dots soon. My son 'owned' a 2-year-old Samsung 42-inch DLP set and experienced numerous white dots a few months ago. He had a technician diagnose his and the repair cost would have far exceeded the value of the television. The technician implied the matter wasn't unusual. Subsequently the Samsung was tossed and another brand TV was purchased. I checked the Samsung website and it appears the manufacturer is aware the dotting problem can/does occur. The FAQ section advises owners to process a service request. But, we consumers with 'out of warranty' televisions may not want to pay for a service call if fixing the condition is too costly. I noticed no other posting of this issue and decided to be the first. As mentioned earlier, Samsung is aware of the dots issue as they feebly address it in the FAQ section. We consumers would appreciate receiving more information from Samsung on the potential reasons for the white dots, to assist us with making a good fix vs. buy decisions. jermaine of Brooklyn, NY November 20, 2009 I purchased a 50 inch samsung plasma tv for $ 1.200 from this mom & pop electronic store called electronic outlet and the warrenty for that store has passed but the tv is still under the manufactuer's warrenty and it is sapposed to be covered by that warrenty incase of any problem's should they arise with the unit well the tv blacked out after i had it for just 7 month's and when i called samsung to repair it cause it is still under warrenty they sent out a local repair guy to come to my apartment so he could take a look at the tv the repair came to my place and he came to a conclusion that the tv went out and that it was not because of me but when he sent that report over to samsung they said that the unit could not be repaired due to physcial damage they claim that the tv went out because of something i must have done to make the tv blow out i've been trying to contact someone higher up in the company to see if they would be able to understand my situation and see if they would be able to help me in this matter but i have not able to get any help the tv is in good condition ive sent them picture's of the tv to prove to them that the unit has no physcial damage but they still wont fix it they wont honor there warrenty aggreement can someone please contact me on this matter because i fell as if i got ripped off by samsung angelo of 258 union ave, NJ November 20, 2009 well, like the rest of you here, i have a major problem with samsung. i bought a 46"lcd in july of last year, and three days ago, it started clicking and took time before comming on, yesterday it clicked all day, and nothing. i spent almost 2 grand on this hunk of junk, at a time when i really didn't have the money to... spend in the hope that it would atleast last for several years and i wouldn't have to wory about it. now i am stuck. samsung could care less since it is out of waranty, of course. there is no way that samsung should get away with this type of problem not being resolved and leave people stranded. i hear people talking about a class action suit, and i am completely for it but i don't see anybody acting upon it. i am ready to go after them. a tv is a pretty large investment now and having it break after 16 months is not oly rediculous but negligent on the part of samsung. Jamal of Brooklyn, NY November 20, 2009 I have a samsung 5668 DLP tv which was alot of money when it first came out. Since I bought it I have had to do nothing but repairs to this T.V. Between the light engine, DMD board and chip, and lamp. This is the worse T.V. that I have ever own. I can't believe samsung would produce such garbage. I am publishing this claim just to let everyone know of the trouble this T.V. has cost me. I would never buy another samsung T.V. in my life time and I suggest that anyone who is thinking of doing so please think again. If it wasn't for my three sons I would have put this thing in the trash where it belongs a long time ago!!! Jerry of Las Cruces, BC November 19, 2009 Purchased 42" Samsung HP T-4254 less than 2 years ago. In the last 2 weeks the TV began cycling through an on/off clicking. When doing so we could not watch the TV. I contacted Samsung today and had extensive on-line chat primarily because I wanted a transcript of our conversation. They were unable to provide a solution other than me filling out a trouble ticket. I did receive an address to their the Executive Customer Relations Department. I will now be contacting them. Mark of Dallas, TX November 19, 2009 I purchased an awesome 52'' LED Samsung TV heard it was the best company to get a TV from! Not a year later the picture took longer and longer to appear could not use HDMI inputs. The guy can to fix it and he had to take it to the shop the "board" was in operable. When I helped him load it up into the truck I noticed that all the TV's were Samsung and the repair gut said that Samsung is why he has a job. So thank you samsung for keeping America employed and you customers [upset]. I will not purchase your cookie cutter products again! Laurie of Norfolk, VA November 19, 2009 I purchased an LCD 40" TV on 2/8/08 and now the TV will not even turn on. There is no picture and it just keeps clicking trying to turn on. I have read all of these people are having the same problem. The purchase price was #1,349.00 and there should be NO REASON for a TV to not last any longer than less than 2 years or just until the warranty runs out. This is unacceptable and Samsung should rectify this problem immediately. Frances of Irving, TX November 19, 2009 SAMSUNG REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING FOR ALL THESE CONSUMERS. OR THERE NEEDS TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT. I purchased a Samsung LCD TV a little less than 2 years ago and just like all the other complaints listed, my TV started taking longer to turn on. In about a week there was no picture or sound and the red light flashed off and on and this ticking noise went on and on. I tried turning it off using the power button and it would not. It continued to click and click. I had to turn unplug the TV. I contacted Samsung and the person asked a few questions and told me her information showed it needed to be service and was no longer under warranty. I told her about all the complaints I've seen online and she said she's heard that but I still needed to have it serviced and I would need to pay for it. Samsung needs to do something about this issue. i will never buy another Samsung again and am telling everybody I know about this problem including family, friends, co-workers, you name it. GinaH of Irving, TX November 17, 2009 I purchased a Samsung 40" LCD TV in March of 2008. Starting in October of this year, the TV would click a few times before it would come on, and now it won't come on at all now. Luckily I purchased the care advantage plan; however, it is still sad that a TV that is only a year and half old failed so soon. WAS thinking about purchasing a Samsung for my parents, but now I'm reconsidering. Model #: LNT4042HX G of Gainesville, FL November 17, 2009 I have same problem as many others, have a 16 month old Samsung LN46A650A1F that takes up to 15 minutes to come on. When this problem started it took about 3-4 minutes so it's getting worse. After reading many comments about same problem it seems it's cheap capacitors that were used and I suppose i will try to repair myself. Samsung should own uo to this problem and correct. My Tv is the model "Touch of Class" if this is class I don't want any part of being there! Tv repair wants excess of $200.00 to repair and maybe more, this should not be with a TV that cost $2100 and only 16 months new. Donna of Edwards, CO November 17, 2009 I also have a 40" Samsung TV that I purchased from Circuit City about a year and a half ago. The power stopped working suddenly last week. It just clicks for hours and never turns on. Pretty upset about this issue after reading about how many other people are experiencing the same issue. Has a class action suit been filed yet? Kay of Redondo Beach, CA November 15, 2009 About 13 months ago, I purchased a Samsung LCD television, model number LN26A450C1DXZA. A few days ago I found that the television would not turn on. The red power light remains lit, but the television will not come on. Upon doing some research online, etc., I found that this is a very common issue that has affected many Samsung television owners, and has to do with a faulty power supply. Upon calling Samsung regarding the issue, they advised me that they would not pay for the issue as my warranty expired a month earlier. They also advised me that there are no Certified Samsung repairmen in my area, and that I would have to ship my television out to have it fixed, and thus pay for parts, labor, AND shipping. Also, I live in Los Angeles County, so the fact that there are no certified service centers in my area is absurd in and of itself. I can't believe that this is such a widespread problem and that Samsung is not doing anything about it. I feel like a class-action lawsuit is necessary, and I will never buy any Samsung product ever again. I should have ponied up the extra few hundred and bought the Sony television that I wanted in the first place. Judith of Santa Rosa, CA November 13, 2009 LN-T4061F 40" TV ~$1400 cost. Just under 2 years old with 1 1/2 years use. Video circuit board dead and is a $400+ repair. No concern or caring from Samsung. Stonewall. We have several Samsung computer monitors as well and now will buy no more. Consumer Reports still likes Samsungs. They should be advised. Also class action would be good. cathleen of grand rapids, MI November 13, 2009 I bought a 50 inch plasma tv form abc warehouse in sept. of 2009. on nov. 4 of 2009 while 3 people were watching the tv it began to make a buzzing noise, the picture became pixely, and half went dark. i called abc warehouse on nov. 5 and they instructed me to call samsung. i called samsung and they said they would send out a technician. the tech. from milbrook service company came out and said the tv had a short in it and would need to be taken to the shop. he and a elderly gentleman took the tv from my home, threw a blanket over it and set it in the back of a van and left. the next week he called and said it had a crack in the screen. i said i didn't see a crack when it left my home. he said perhaps it was a small crack and grew since he had it. i said i didn;t see a dark area any where on the tv that would indicate a crack before and no one had physically touched the tv except him. he said it was physical damage and samsung would not cover it. i called samsung x 8 and spoke with numerous people in both their call center in the phillipines and austin, texas. first they said it was just not covered under the warrenty and it was my problem, them they said they would call me back x 5 and never called. I am atempting to get the tv back to abc warehouse so i can contact my credit card company and dispute the charges but they have been very uncooperative. I still don't have a tv or my money back. Marc of Clarkston, MI November 13, 2009 46" DLP TV displays green lines / bars. I have found dozens of message boards with Samsung owners screeming about the same issue. Set was only 2 years old. Adam of Winchester , VA November 13, 2009 Just a little over one year ago I purchased two Samsung TVs at circut city right before they went out of business. One was a 52 inch and one was a 42 inch. Tonight I was watching the 52 inch and green lines ran up and down the screen and it made a loud noise. After that the TV started turing itself on and off, and now I can't get it to turn on at all. I spoke with someone from samsung and they said with out the extended coverage they couldn't help. It's a shame because I spent several thousand dollars, and now I have to find a way to fix this TV. If it was a rare problem I would understand, but with so many complaints against this company, it's clearly a problem that many people have had to go through. I do think there should be a class action law suit against this company. I just pray my other TV doesn't break. Charles of Stockton, CA November 12, 2009 2 months out of warranty TV would not turn on. You can hear a clicking noise from a relay. Based on online forums the problem is the failure of capacitors in the power supply board. This common in most Samsung TVs and is caused by overheating or under design of the power supply. As prevalent as it seems to be a class action suit should be considered Carolyn of Metairie, LA November 12, 2009 I have a LN-T4061F 40" TV and, just as described by others, my TV is taking a very long time to turn on, and all I hear are click click clicks until it finally turns on. I have called Samsung, and they deny any knowledge of a problem. They say there are no alerts for this problem. I spoke to a nice girl there who agreed to extend my warranty as to parts, but only as to parts. The labor costs are my own to bear, and I'm not sure I'm ready to do that. I'm spittin' mad about this, to be honest, and I'd like Samsung to pony up and acknowledge that there's a problem. I have reviewed the similar complaints about this on this website and others, and I have watched the you tube videos about how to repair it - on your own. Wish I were that handy, but I have no clue how to solder something and I think Samsung should cover it. The labor to fix this is going to be high. In order to even get them to look at it, I have to pay $96, and that's with me bringing the TV to them. If I don't, it's $130 for a home visit - and that does not go toward my ultimate labor costs. I'm very angry about this and I feel that Samsung needs to acknowledge this problem and take care of it. I am also highly interested in a class action, should Samsung continue to shirk its responsibilities to consumers. Mary of Jacksonville, FL November 12, 2009 Purchased Samsung 32" TV, Model LN32A330JIDX2A on July 19, 2008. November 1, 2009, the TV no longer turns on or off. I called Samsung and got the same story as everyone else "it is out of warranty...sorry, we cannot do anything" Every person who wrote in stated the warranty just expired, in my case, by four months. I am trying my best to educate people when purchasing a TV by telling everyone I know what happened to me. So far I "enlightened" a person from purchasing a Samsung TV at Walmart and I posted a note on the bulletin board at work. I hope an attorney reads all of the complaints regarding the same product and maker and decides to start a class action lawsuit. I want to be the first to join! Placed on hold for another 3-4 minutes. If anyone out there can get a real live phone number of a Samsung representative that has the power to actually do something instead saying "we appologize" I would appreciate the feedback~ Larry of Stafford , VA November 10, 2009 I puchased a 46" inch flat screen television and two years to the date It has developed red pixals throughout the screen and wants to cut on by itself. Debbie of Marble Hill, GA November 10, 2009 I purchased Samsung 42 Plasma TV Dec 2006 for over 1400.00 and now it has black sceen, no picture, has sound. I talked with Samsung customer service several times with the same response of "It's past the warranty of 1 year so we're not responsible. One rep told me that the lifespan is 10 years and another told me 5 years. When I asked why would it need to be repaired unless something was defective? I was told the 5 year lifespan wasn't expected to be without repairs. I was also told this was not a reported problem with this tv. However when I look at consumer affairs website I see hundreds of over people with this same issue. Many of these people have spent more money than I did. It's time that his stops and Samsung is held accountable for this. We consumers paid our money in good faith for these products so Samsung needs to either give our money back or replace with good quality tvs. Eric of Alpine, TX November 10, 2009 I purchased an LN52A750R1FXZA LCD TV in 8/09. Now the set turns on and off repeatedly, just as all the other complaints I've read about. The warranty is 2 months out. $3,700 wasted! Buyer Beware... Mike of Johnston, IA November 9, 2009 My wife purchased me the Samsung BD-P2550 from Best Buy for Christmas on 12/23/2008. The unit was installed the day after Christmas and used lightly for the first month or so with no issues. The LAN cable was attached directly to the unit to take advantage of the Netflix and Pandora features as well as to provide firmware updates for the player. Much to my disappointment, after downloading and installing the first update my player began freezing and pausing uncontrollably making it almost impossible to watch a disc. I took it into Best Buy with my receipt in early March of 2009 only to find out that they would be sending it to the Geek Squad for repair for 3-4 weeks. Almost 12 weeks later I received my Blu Ray player back on 5/24/2009. The player worked ok for about one month until the next firmware upgrade (V 2.5) came out on 7/2/2009. After this upgrade was downloaded and installed, the player will no longer play a disc without constant freezes and pauses. It takes a hard reset just to get the disc back out of the player. I have contacted Samsung at least 5 times about this as well as Best Buy. Neither company want to help with the issue without a minimum $200 repair. The player only cost $350 to begin with so the repair would be a joke only to find out it still doesn't work. The 3 month warranty from Samsung is useles...the Geek Squad service at Best Buy is useless...and the BD-P2550 sitting in my basement is useless. I will no longer buy another product from Samsung or Best Buy in the future. I guess this is just another lesson learned. All I kept hearing was...I guess you should have purchased the extended warranty. What a joke? Troy of Fort Pierce, FL November 9, 2009 Just over a year ago I purchased a Samsung DLP rear projection T.V. from Best Buy and in this short amount of time I have had three reported issues with the device. After only 9 months the lamp blew out and was replaced by Samsung, three months later while watching tv the screen went black and smoke was coming out of the back of the unit itself, after a long process with "customer service" it finally was repaired, apparently the power pack had a faulty capacitor in it. Now it has been two months since the last visit and only five months since the lamp change and the lamp has blown again, but this time the tv is two months past the warranty date thank goodness i purchased the extended plan from the retailer. I have made several attempts to contact someone at Samsung who can assist me with either getting my money back or replacing my faulty television because they may be able to fix the lamp problem again but it has only been a year and some change so how can i be sure that this will not continue to break down on me every frew months or so. By the way the retailer warranty only covers one lamp replacement and only certain problems so the next one could cost me money out of pocket for something that could be avoided if Samsung would only care enough to handle these type of issues. I deal day in and day out with different people and their televisions I have this opportunity because I am a technician with the largest cable company in the United States and I have the wonderful opportunity to share my ordeal with anyone willing to listen. Charlene of Walnut Creek, CA November 8, 2009 We purchased an LCD Model # LNT4671F from Circuit City 12.5.07. The t.v. a few months ago started to make a clicking sound when you turned on the T.V. It took at least 5-10 minutes to turn on. Today it no longer will function. I have tried to call Samsung and get this resolved. But guess what my warranty expired. I would think with the # of complaints this company is getting they would realize that this is a problem. There should be a class action lawsuit against this company. Wayne of Walnut, CA November 7, 2009 I purchase the Samsung model #LNS3251D 32" LCD TV only a couple of years ago and now I am told the main motherboard of the processor is no longer working so it is causing my TV to switch on and off non-stop when in use. TVs are designed to last many year and operate in the home. If the screen was showing signs of wear it is understood but the circuit board? That should have been the last item to wear out. I have made my claims with Samsung and they have completely ignored me and said is out of there hands. I see from many other complaints they have the same trouble I have. Never will I purchase Samsung TVs again unless they offer a minimal 5 year warranty on the internal circuit boards. Douglas of Beaverton, OR November 6, 2009 A HLR-5078 DLP Tv has a failed digital board. The symptoms range from a 'green plaid' effect when switched on to a good picture using a different input (like HDMI) that may work for a few hours /days before it to fails, with a picture that breaks up into horizontal lines. A $2000+ paperweight! These problems are documented all over the internet. Samsung used a new technique to mount some components onto their DLP digital board, and these devices called ball gate arrays, use tiny balls of solder that supposedly mate the chip with the motherboard, unlike the 'old' method of solder tags. Over time (and not a lot of it) these joints fail, causing the problems outlined. If one applies mechanical pressure to the chip (thereby forcing the chip / solder / circuit board into contact) the board works again. This is obviously both a design defect AND poor manufacturing. Hundreds of sets are this afflicted so a 2000+ dollar set is worthless after 3 years! I'd be interested in hearing from others as I suspect Samsung, who seem to think that the whole thing is a joke, deserve instead a class-action suit, much like the one for the 'shadow' problems that also plague many of their DLP units? In the UK where I lived for many years, goods MUST reach a 'fitness for purpose' test (regardless of how short the manufacturer makes their warranty) and this kind of thing would result in Samsung being forced to make good these sets. Here it seems that they can hide behind inadequate 'warranties' which all manufacturers make as short as they can get away with? If you told a Brit his product had a 90 day warranty he'd laugh in your face, so too with a one year warranty for multi thousand dollar 'durables' - We need laws like that here. Manufacturers try and scare us by saying that it would put up prices, but they DO offer much better service elsewhere WHEN MADE TO! William of Taylors, SC November 5, 2009 D TV just over a year ago. The last tter three months the tv has slowly but surely taken longer and longer to turn on once you hit the power but. I am up to close to 2 minutes. After searching on line for a solution I have noticed now THOUSANDS of complaints, videos on you tube and constant complaint about SAMSUNG not making this a recal manufacturing defect and hundreds of QUALITY CUSTOMERS of product, getting the run around about the repair. Cheryl at the custome service center whom I was told was the highest in management I could speak to acknowledged the issue was true and refused to take care of me as a customer on a $250 fix on a one year old $3,000 TV. Because I purchased mine, my father, father in law and two brothers also purchased SAMSUNG TV's. For [their] company to acknowledge it IS AN ISSUE, offer 50 peeople out of now thousands to get theirs fixed as a "TEST" is nuts. I will not purchase another SAMSUNG product of any kind and I WILL let it be know to all I know not to do the same. It is a shame [they] will not service [their] product. PATHETIC is what that is for a $250 fix! Pathetic service! Robert of Las Vegasa, NV November 4, 2009 I bought a Samsung LCD TV LN52A550 in June 2008 and now that the tv is past the warranty period everytime I turn the TV on I here multiple clicks and a flashing on/off button for about 2-3 min. before the picture appears. Calling samsung did not do any help instead the operator just got my information and he told me that a service center will call to schedule an appointment. I asked if there was a recall on the product and there was none. This is the first samsung product I bought since it was recommended by consumer reports but I guess I made a big mistake. I will never buy a samsung product ever. Its worth spending the extra bucks with a sony or panasonic product. Thomas of New Lexington, OH November 4, 2009 I've had the same problem as everyone else on here; the TV (LN40A550P3FX2A, just over 1 year old) started out not turning on correctly. It would turn on and off repeatedly cycling through the chime at start up. I thought the problem was with Direct TV at first, but after I tried their fix that worked once, I knew the TV was the problem. It got to the point that as others have said, it took 10 minutes or more to come on. Sometimes it would come on for a second and then go through the cycle again. Now it is to the point the TV won't come on at all. The blue power light just constantly flashes when you plug it in. Knowing there was probably a major fix in sight I called customer service, just to verify the warranty was expired and see if there was any fix they could reccommend, they told me that I'd have to call a repair shop and have it serviced. I stopped at that point and found all of this information. Unfortunately for Samsung, I was about ready to buy a new cell phone, but not anymore! I'll never reccommend Samsung to others. Timothy of New Bern, NC November 3, 2009 I have had multiple repeat problems with my Samsung LCD TV model LN-T4661FX/XAA. Samsung has identified that the television is in need of repair and that a common problem exists with their television sets not powering up properly. Samsung agreed to extend my warranty once and the problem was solved. However, three months later the exact problem returns. A claim was made to Samsung and all they would offer is that I deal with the repair facility in order to settle who is responsible for paying for the repairs. Certainly a large corporation is keeping track of quality issues within their own company. Janet with customer service replied to the question about the amount of similiar problems with TV's and she states, "All I can do is laugh at the matter." Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get them to accept their mistakes and correct the matter without additional costs to the consumers. Michael of Dayotn, OH November 3, 2009 Purchased our TV in March 2008. In late December 2008 I contacted Samsung and filed a repair order because the picture on my TV (Model LN-T5265F) would not come on. On turning on, the screen stayed black while I got sound. A technican came from several hundred miles away to repair it. He said it was Time Warner's problem and left. TW came out and tested the cable line and said it was not their fault. They brought a TV in, hooked it up and it worked, but our Samsung would not work. Called the technican back. He order new parts for practically the whole TV. Everything worked fine for about 3 months and since then we have strugged to get the TV to show a video. So whatever parts were put in soon went bad. I guess I have been lucky because all TVs I purchased in the pass would work 10 years or more before I gave them away. Just for all of you out there, NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG PRODUCT! Regretfully, we bought a Samsung refrigerator last year also and we are waiting for that to blow up soon. We have a $2,000 TV that does not work. We need to find someone who will take it off of our hands so we can buy a real TV. We are going to be looking for a new one and this time buy a real warranty. Alex of Charlestown, MA November 2, 2009 Bought a 1080p Samsung LCD about two years ago for $1000 from Circuit City. Watching the TV yesterday and all was fine. Turned on TV today, no picture! Out of warranty, nothing Samsung can do. Will cost $150-$240 to fix it. It looks like every other complaint on here is about Samsung and this very same problem. Nancy of Ludlow , MA November 2, 2009 Model # HLS5086 WX/XAA 2 1/2 years later my TV is also full of white pixels. It first started by shutting itself off. Then the white spots started appearing. My 52 inch 1,800 dollar TV is useless not even 3 years later. My call to Samsung was an insult to my intelligence. They tried to get me to change from my hi def cables to the regular ones. After I told them I knew what the problem was and that I was not the only one with this issue they told me there was nothing they could do..the warranty had expired. My question is...how can they know their TV's have this isue and not help the consumer in any way? The cost is about 900.00 to fix...and who's to say 6 months down the road it doesn't happen again? There needs to be a class action suit and count me in if there is one...furthermore, I will tell everyone about the treatment I got from Samsung and how they do not stand behind their products! Never ever again will I purchase or let anyone I know purchase anything with the Samsung name on it! Victoria of palo cedro, CA November 1, 2009 In reading the many complaints about the samsung tv, we had the same problem about not being able to turn on the tv. It took longer and longer to turn on until it wouldn't turn on at all. Fortunate for us, we watched a youtube video of instructions of how to replace some capacitors. Even though my husband and I are 76 years old we had no problem taking the tv apart to get to the capacitors that had swollen and putting in the new capacitors. We were successful and the tv picture and sound is better than it ever was. With so many people having the same problem, samsung should be ashamed that they use faulty parts. We had to replace 3 capacitors that cost $1.59 each at Radio Shack. The size of capacitors that we replaced were 10v and we replaced them with 35v capacitors. Laura of Canton, MI October 31, 2009 We purchased a Samsung LCD that lost its picture two months after the warranty expired. Consumer Reports recommended this as the best tv of its kind. After googling the problem online it seems that thousands of people have the same exact problem with the same model. The labor and parts to fix the tv will cost more than it did originally. Judy of Fort Worth, TX October 31, 2009 Oct. 22, 2006 I purchased a Samsung TV model HL S4266W from Best Buy, Hurst, Tx. Shortly before it was 3 years old, it started with 3 small white dots on the screen. Each day the dots multiplied, until now, a month and a half later, there are so many dots, you can barely see the picture. I called 1-800- Samsung and told them of the problem, they said it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. The repair cost from what I can tell is going to be 800-900 dollars. I don't feel this is fair, where there are so many people with the same problem, all happening with the same product and about the same time frame. I was told by a customer service rep that my TV was "used up" At three years, it's used up. A $1500 TV. To add insult to injury. Each time I talked to a rep. they said they would turn over my case to ECR and i would hear back from them in 48 hours. Never heard back, so I called again. I have been given this story 4 times and I have yet to receive a call back. I have written a letter to customer service on the Samsung web site. No response. I would very much like to be a part of a class action law suit. This is not right, and they won't even call you back to defend themselves. I will tell everyone I know and anyone I come into contact that they should avoid all Samsung products because of the bad experience i've had with this TV and the bad experience and the lies of their service department. That is unacceptable and it shouldn't go unnoticed. Mark of La Crosse, WI October 26, 2009 I too have bad a shoddy tv from Samsung. Model#lnt4061fx. After about a year and a half it started doing the clicking thing, taking forever to turn on. Now it doesn't turn on at all. I seen on the internet you can replace the capacitors on it I'll just have to give that a try. It's just not right for a company to sell a product like this and not recall it after so many people have issues with it. James of Wichester, CA October 25, 2009 Purchase a Samsung 46" TV in October 2006 model# HL-S4666W, sound continously dropped out, only way to get the sound back was to unplugged the TV (nuisance), next the TV would intermittently shut off for no apparent reason, continuous having to vacuum out the vents in the back of the TV, never had to do this with a Tube tv. Than the bulb exploded in the TV, consumable but at $150.00 very high maintenance on a TV. Than October 2009 I turned the TV on and have vertical white lines across the TV screen...Estimated repair on the low side $400 on the high side $900 (DMD board)...I paid $1600 for this TV 3 years ago and have to $900 fix it... Sorry Samsung well documented problems with your product, and you don't want to stand behind it guess what, it will be that last Korean made product I buy let lone a Samsung product... I am aware there your chips are in other Television, and have done my research to ensure I don't buy your product again and make the same mistake I made this time.....Oh by the way I pass on my Samsung experience with everybody I have contact with when it comes to purchasing a Television....It's not pretty....Let sum that back up 1. Sound intermittently works 2. Shuts off for no apparent reason 3. High maintenance $150.00 for bulb 4. $89.00 Color wheel 5. DMD board $900.00 did I mention this is a 3 year old TV....More maintenance than my car....A TV should last no less than 10 years and have very little maintenance. I don't buy that TV's now days only have a 3-5 year life span if that is the case Samsung better lower the price... Alice of Poland, OH October 24, 2009 I purchased a 46" HD flatscreen 1 1/2 years ago. Small white dots are now appearing on the screen. Apparently, many consumers have complained about the same problem, and Samsung is quoting $900 to fix the problem. How ludicrous. Seems to me that Samsung should recall the tvs before passing their fault of pixels onto the consumer. Timothy of Eau Claire, MI October 24, 2009 Purchased Samsung LCD HDTV from Best Buy (model #LN-T4665FX), after the store sales person convinced me that Samsung was the best quality for the money. What a mistake that was! I have owned the TV for 1 1/2 years and already have two different problems with my TV. There are two vertical greenlines on the left side of the screen (caused by HDMI ports going bad on the TV), and now the TV won't turn on (caused by faulty power board). The power board is totally inexcusable because its' problems are caused by Samsung using cheaper capacity resistors (which saved them about $1.00). Unfortunately since I'm not a soldering expert I will have to replace the entire board (or risk blowing up the tv or starting a fire if I installed the resistors incorrectly). Someone at Samsung is going to have to answer a lot of questions either in engineering design or supply chain for this debacle. $1.00 capacity resistor savings on a $2,500 cost retail TV? I won't purchase another Samsung product ever again. Samsung Customer Service was polite - but ineffectual "we can't do anything because it is out of warrant". Hopefully Best Buy will step up to the plate and force them into fixing this problem permanently (because the replacement boards have the same faulty design - so I will have the same problem again in a year or so). Time wasted calling customer service, Time wasted researching the problem "correctly" on the internet because Samsung didn't give full disclosure. Cost of replacing the board, etc. Maayan of New York, NY October 24, 2009 I have a Samsung LCD TV -- 750B series -- that I purchased from Amazon only three months ago. The TV's input/output components only work sporadically. Giving me no sound out of one external speaker 90% of the time, and no high-definition TV (from an HD cable box) for the majority of the time. I have been calling Samsung customer service for the past 3 weeks, almost daily about the issue. I am within the 1 year warrantee, so repairs should be covered, right? However, now having been assigned to the FOURTH repair company (no one does Samsung home-repairs in the most populous city in the country, apparently, and my TV is too big to transport safely to a repair shop), I have yet to get anyone in to fix my TV. The TV cost a fortune, and HD cable costs money too. Why, after 3 months, should these problems arise, and why is Samsung so slack on taking care of them? They already got their money, I guess. I would be interested in suing Samsung if this problem is not fixed by next week. Chris of Hingham, MA October 23, 2009 My Samsung LCD TV is having the same on-off issues that many here are describing. Samsung support has been uncooperative in dealing with this issue even though obviously this is widespread problem. It seems faulty capacitors are causing the power supply to break down. My TV does not work and its less than 2 years old. I paid about $1000. Kristyn of STATESVILLE, NC October 22, 2009 Have two Samsung LCD Flat Panels. One 46" the other 37". Both have same problem -- sound but no picture. Samsung was no help in the repairs, but both Customer Service and Technical Support as well as Field Technicians all acknowledge there is a serious problem with these televisions. Technician said, "Almost always happens between 1.5 years and 3 years. But funny how the warranty ends after one." Basically -- Not covered under warranty so consumer is SOL. Technician at BestBuy told me he would guess that at least 60% of the consumers have issues and come back to complain. Samsung acknowledged there is a problem, that the parts are antiquated and should never have been used, but yet they still continued to use and make these TVs for several years after they knew they would fail in the field. Why? Sounds like a class action law suit to me. All I want them to do is acknolwedge the problem and fix my television at no cost. John of Lincoln, RI October 22, 2009 Purchased a Samsung 32" LCD January 2006. On October 20th, 2009 the monitor went black but I still had audio. The screen is completely black even when trying to activate the various menus. In lieu of initially calling customer service I decided to do a Google search where I discovered this was quite a frequent occurrence. After getting an idea that this was rather common I called customer service that seemed totally unaware of any other customers having similar problems...RIGHT. The customer service rep suggested a hard restart or something similar which required me to hold down the power button for 15 seconds. This did not work. What I gathered from the internet is that Samsung is completely uncooperative when it comes to this sort of thing and my best bet was to fix the problem myself. The most common problem was bad capacitors which one person decided to investigate further. Apparently the capacitors Samsung used to make his TV in 2007 were deemed obsolete by the capacitor manufacturer in 1999 (doesn’t sound like a warranty issue as much as a manufacturers issue.) My game plan is to head to Radio Shak and purchase 5 -1000uF /10V capacitors (others have been using 16V and 32V as well) for $1.60 each. The repair will need a bit of soldering so I’ll need to purchase that as well. From what I gather the parts will cost me less than $20 and the repair shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. Compare that to the $350 others whose warranties are expired and it’s worth a shot. There is a link online if you do a Google search and youtube actually has a two part video demo of how to replace your capacitors. k.richmond of dah, GA October 21, 2009 I purchased a samsung dlp tv, .HL-s5679 less than 2 years ago .this tv was used very little, when grand children come in town ,as we watch tv in the bed room . constant clicking noise ,flashing light between led to timer to standby/temp ,then all 3 flash.. has sound no visual black screan black ..samsung tv is junk ,do not buy one ..I will gladlly go in on a class action suit. still watching my Quasar,18 years old in den.toshiba 10 yrs old in bedroom . visio 3yrs old in bedroom. Investing 2000.00 + dallars should last years..sansung tv ,beware!!!! Robert of not needed, TX October 12, 2009 I found a way to fix the problem. AND IT COST MYSELF ONLY 15$! The problem I am referring to is when my LCD 40" Samsung 1080p resolution TV takes forever to turn on. First, it took 2 clicks on and off, the TV did it itself. Then after 5 days, it took 10 minutes to turn on. The next week it took at least an hour to turn on. Not only that but when the TV turned on there would be the "rainbow" of colors and DEAD pixels EVERYWHERE on the TV. I would have to turn the tv off and on all over again. When Samsung replaces the power supply, they still contain the 10V capacitors, and it is prone to break within the same time your tv broke. I replaced 4 malfunctioning capacitors, which were 4 1000uF, 10V, 105 degree Celsius capacitors. I replaced those with 4 1000uF (the 1000uF must remain 1000uF), 35V, 85 degree Celsius capacitors at my local Radio Shack. I also bought a saudder, however you spell it, and I bought some wire called rosin, i forgot, but it doesn't matter because this is easy. I studied the youtube video and fixed the 4 capacitors with ease. It works. jamie of Lilburn, GA October 6, 2009 Sent a 22 inch samsung to be repaired on aug 28 2009.Arrived at samsung on sept 2 10:20 am signed by Parrera. Carolyn of Atlanta, GA October 6, 2009 Bought Samsung DLP Model HLT5076SX/XAA, Version: PH01, S/N: AHFM3CMP500546R in January 2008. After 3 months the TV started taking a long time to come on. This TV was not used occasionally during 2008 up to mid 2009. It was used continuously recently - as of August 26, 2009. It would take longer and longer to come on. By Mid-September it stopped working. The Lamp was replaced and it worked for 1 day and went out again. When I power it on it cycles off and on, flashes alternately between the lamp and standby lights until all 3 lights start flashing. This is the worst TV in history. The cost of the replacement bulb ($180), and repair expense ($300). The TV was purchased for $1,500 and the dealer is no longer in business. Jeff of Broken Arrow, OK September 29, 2009 I bought a samsung 50" plasma tv July 26th 2007. On Aug 21 2009 it was on when it suddenly just shut off. No power at all, no light on front, nothing. I called and the rep for samsung said that if I registered the TV on the Samsung website I got 3 extra months warranty so it was still covered. The website would not update however and for 5 days the regular customer service just told me to wait until it did. Finally on Aug 26 the escalations department said fixed it after I had to call in again about the site not updating and they put a ticket in for me. On Sept 1 the tech came out and said the power supply was bad and he ordered the part. Samsung and done a software upgrade of their systems and it had caused the parts system to not work. The part did not ship until Sept 11. The tech came to my house on Sept 16 and replaced the part and the tv started working again. After 1 and 1/2 hours it did the exact same thing. no power, no light, nothing. I waited 3 weeks and 5 days for 1 1/2 hours. I called that night and talked to a customer service rep who said I would have to call back the next day to talk to an escalations person again. I called on the morning of Sept 17. The escalations person told me they would have to do another repair. As you can imagine after waiting 4 weeks to have the tv work for 1 1/2 hours and it obviously not being the actual problem I was not willing to accept this. She said I she would have a supervisor call me. I called again on Friday Sept 18 and talked to someone who came across as a supervisor. She said she understood my frustration and they had to have the tech come out and "verify the unit was not working". I quote that as those are exact words. Once he verified it "was not working" they would replace the unit. She went over what would happen. They would talk about the model and I would have to agree on the model and it would take 7-14 days to get to me. I agreed and waited on the tech. On Sept 24 the tech came out and verified it was the exact same issue and the unit was not working. On Sept 25 I called and talked to another escalations rep who now told me the unit would have to be repaired. Obviously this is not what was agreed to so I told her this was not acceptable. Their rep set the expectation that it was being replaced and they needed to stand behind that. I was not going to have them fix it again when that was obviously not the issue and then have it go out again and wait another month to have it fixed after that. She sent it to their Case Management dept. On Monday Sept 28 I still had not heard from that dept so I called again. Another escalations rep said to give them until the next day. I did. Today, Tuesday Sept 29 I called again. Now I am being told to give them another 48 hours to get back to me and that the rep who told me they would replace it once the rep verified it was not working really meant to say only if it was determined to be unrepairable. Obviously I know the difference between those 2 things and I did not misunderstand. It does not matter if that rep messed up or not, the expectation has been made and needs to be done. I am not going to have a tv repaired again after 1 1/2 hours of it working. In short, I was a loyal Samsung customer. I have 3 of their tv's and was going to buy one of the new led tv's. My wife and I both have Samsung cell phones. I will never buy Samsung again. I will tell everyone I know about this and recommend against Samsung. I will be all over the internet telling the world about this and not to buy Samsung. This needs to be fixed and fixed now. Jessica of san mateo, CA September 29, 2009 I purchased a tv 32" in circuit city in 09/01/2007 and I pay for the warranty also my tv stop working in april 2009 since then is a nightmare i been calling the warranty number and they send me a radio shack whit confirmation number, but in radio shack they do not fix tv's of the size, so I call them again they finally send some technician he told me they will contact me, but they did'nt when I call again they told me they decide the part of the tv will be more expensive so they told me they will transfer my call to customer relations and they said they have already the approval for my case and they will contact me but I wait for week and they did'nt call me and I call again since then every time when I call is the same thing I call to Customer relation and they transferme they transfer my call to the dept and the other dept transfer my call again to the dept of customer relation but they dont answer and there it's me waiting for more than one every time I have no solution no another number where to complaint about this abuse I pay 799.99 for the tv SAMSUNG plus 99.99 for protection plan which is no help at all the company witch provide de warranty is INSURANCE SOLUTION the number they provide me 1800-8781167, the other number is 1888-6158156,1877-5125278. Brad of Pittsburgh , PA September 28, 2009 In April 2009 I purchased a samsung 46" hdmi tv from Electrozone.com. The refurbished tv was $1400 + $200 for the Cps warranty. The warranty states that any issues with the tv will be repaired by Cps within the 2 years. If there is a major problem that cant be fixed in the tv or costs too much; Cps will replace the tv for free. After a few months of using the tv, roughly around may 2009, I noticed the hdmi would not work in the tv. I called up Cps for service. They had sent two repair guys that said the tv was fine. I then thought it was something else. However, after a few months of my own gruesome experiments and investigations, I knew it was the tv. I called Cps again and they sent the same two guys. I attempted to prove to them that the tv hdmi was acting up through process of elimination. They wouldn't listen, told me the tv was fine, and ran out the door. I was stunned! I then asked Cps to send professionals; however, CPS said they were the only certified samsung professionals that they could send in the area. I laughed. The hdmi is still not working, but I have proof the tv is bad. The only problem is proving to them it's bad. It seemed to me that the repair guys might work for Cps and is sent to ignore problems so Cps does not have to repair the tv. Ramon of Scottsdale, AZ September 26, 2009 I purchased a samsung htl50 DLP projection television on 5/16/07for $1,300 at first I was extremely happy with my investment however I had no idea what I was going to be getting myself into. A little after 7 months i had my first experience with what this piece of shit TV had in store for me. My family and I were watching a movie and the TV powered it self-down and started to flash the (known in my opinion) as the led's of death. I called Samsung that night to let them know what had just happened and they were happy to send out a authorized Samsung repair company by the name of canyon state electronics. It took the Repair company about 3 business days to finally arrive and fix the television he replaced the lamp and the ballast on the TV and said that I only had 1200 hrs of use on my lamp and it should avg 5,000 - 8,000 hours. I had 2 repairs in the first year of having my tv – replacing the bulb and ballist I had 3 repairs like clock work the secound year it went out every 4 months – replacing the bulb and ballist Finally I have had 1 repair in the third year which they replaced the bulb ballist and power supply this was done on july 09 of this year the tv is now not funcuting less than 3 months after the repair . I now have a claim number 3000534043 which is to receive a new televison – however the tv they want to replace it with is a 46†I have a 50†and they want me to pay a out of warranty fee of $566.00! What the hell is that samsung? get your shit together! It’s a bad product and should have been replaced a long time ago! Everyone on this site needs to get together so we can file a class action law suite! Since I have purchased the televsion I have now had 7 repairs all replacing the same part the bulb and ballast each time I have a repair I have asked for a new televsion getting the same repsonce each and every single time like a broken record it it can be repaired they will not replace it. Now that Im so far out of warranty they want me to pay a prorated out or warranty fee! It the worst purcahse I have every made I hope this helps others out there to make sure they don’t buy a samsung product! They are the worse!!!!!! Michael of Logan,, UT September 25, 2009 Purchased new 50" plasma TV at Best Buy in Logan Utah store #945 on Feb 28th 2009 Model #PN50A510P3F. 0n 8-18-09 FILED 1ST Claim #4005384818 Tech specialists came out and looked at the Tv said if spots continue to keep coming back call again. Tazmin of Culver City, CA September 25, 2009 Bought a Samsung Television that is having numerous white dots, many people are having the same problem, and samsung does not want to do anything about it, I think we need to file a class action law suit. scott of wayne, MI September 22, 2009 my 46 in tv has white dots only 2 years old hls4676sx seen lots of others having the same prob. with on and off i think we should all get a lawer on this Mark of Tempe, AZ September 22, 2009 I purchased a Samsung LNT3253 LCD TV From Enterprise Photo With Warranty From RepairTech Inc. My TV screen does not work and I tried to use my warranty and both numbers from the seller and that of the warranty company do not work. Charlene of Defiance, MO September 22, 2009 Almost two years to the date, our Samsung Model #LNT1953HX monitor totally went out. It's been slow to turn on recently and in addition, we have been hearing clicking noises coming from the monitor. It didn't matter if the TV was turned on or not. After the picture went out, we tried to move the monitor but the top left side of the monitor was extremely hot and smelled of melting. We unplugged immediately and after two hours it cooled off and re-plugged in and it started to get hot again. Unfortunately, we did not purchase extended warranty coverage from Sears. This 19 inch monitor cost $499. This the first and last time we buy any Samsung products. Just to ship into service for diagnostic testing was going to cost $80.25. Then, to repair, would probably run anywhere from $100 + if it involves any circuit boards. So this $499 TV would then cost almost $700 when all was said and done. Our Ticket No. was 4005569810, Transaction #1010249491 with Samsung and I cancelled our repair order request. We are VERY UNHAPPY with our SAMSUNG Experience and agree a Class Action Suit needs to be filed on behalf of all the Samsung TV customers that have been sold faulty products and workmanship not to mention the potential fire hazards. This from a TV that is only used on average 5 to 6 hours per week. There is no excuse! Our other TV's are 10+ years and older and we haven't had one ounce of problems with them. One being a 52 inch - Pioneer wide screen TV and the other a 32 inch RCA TV. What happened to products that last over 5 years? Hitesh of Ventnor City, NJ September 21, 2009 Purchased a 42 inch Samsung plasma TV on 11- 28-08, purchased the extended warranty as well. TV went bad on 09-14-09. called samsung @ the 800 number they said some of thier third party compnay will get back to on my repair and they never get back infact i have to keep callin them again & again. I called Samsung & they said they have 3 week to repair my TV that's their internal policy when i told them that there is no time frame in the warranty policy and docuemnts that they have provided to me when i purchased the TV and they told me they will not exchange the TV and i'll have to wait till 21 days for resolution. Samsung keeps giving me the run around. As of now "I still have no TV. (7 days) I have 3 different transaction numbers from Samsung I have made 5 calls to samsung and all in vain all i get to her is their internal policy. I am lost as what to do any help would be appreciated. Orlando of Davie, FL September 21, 2009 Bought a Samsung 61" DLP approximately Jan 07 and within a year we had the same problem described in previous complaints. The tv turns its self off for no reason, takes a long time to warm up or it gets specks on the screen. I called the customer service support at Samsung over a month ago and was given a tracking # in case the problem continued. At no time was I told my tv was out of warranty or that this was a common problem in their product. In fact I was told that if the problem continue that i should call back with the above tracking number and they would take care of me. I called today and was treated so unprofessionally and so rudely that i couldnt believe a company like Samsung could have people like this working for them, or for that matter that Samsung was aware of what was going on. Boy do i know better now! The supervisor that i requested to speak to, by name of Juna (i doubt thats her real name) had the nerve to tell me that they "Samsung" were in control and the customer was in no position to tell them what rules they were to follow! I am horrified that this company is still in business and that this problem is so prevalent in many of their tv models. Why havent we heard about all this before now. Why isnt someone/agency regulating this kind of problem/business? It appears that Samsung knows about this problem and yet continues to sell their defective product/equipment to unsuspecting customers. This is fraud plain and simple. Shane of Arlington, VA September 21, 2009 I purchased a Samsung LNT4066FX/XAA LCD 40" TV in September 2007 from Best Buy for over $1500. It was by far the best looking LCD in the bunch, I even spent more for a smaller TV than I'd wanted since it looked so good! Got it home, set it up, and everything was fine until around February 2008. I found that some of the inputs sources, though they were all set up properly (I'm no tech novice), were not selectable. Calling Samsung got me a repair visit for free, since it was still well within warranty. The tech from Virginia Electronics showed up, confirmed the problem and opened up the back of the TV, He prodded about inside for a few minutes, then closed it up. He said everything looked fine, we plugged it in, and the inputs which did not work before were now selectable via the 'sources' button on the remote. Initially he said he'd brought a new power supply unit to replace the old one but didn't feel it needed to be replaced... though he also said I needed to sign the work order anyhow so he could be paid for the replacement PSU. I was happy to oblige since he did, after all, seem to have made my TV work, which was all I wanted. Fast forward to March 2009. I began to notice that the unit would not power on with one press of the button... it would now click on, wait a few seconds, click off, then click on again and the picture would show up. Knowing that the TV was out of warranty by now and seeing as it still ultimately worked, I chose not to do anything about the behavior at the time. It got worse. Every couple of weeks, the unit would add a couple more power cycles, and clicks, before an image would show up. Eventually it was taking half a dozen cycles, and when it did finally power on, the chime and the audio would be filled with static and the only image displayed would be a series of vertical multicolored pixel columns. When this occurred, the manual "fix" was to power it off at the unit, wait a minute, and power it on at which point the image would display with - like so many other posts on here - random pink pixels all over, distorting the image. After a few more power cycles, the image would be fine. Finally, in August 2009 I decided to plead with Samsung; as the unit was out of warranty I had little recourse but to hope Samsung would realize the unit was defective and repair or replace it. I'm a fool for not taking the names of the reps I spoke with, but I know they have records (which they should be able to be subpoenaed for) of my dealings with them as they were able to produce some history of the first repair. The first rep I spoke with told me I definitely needed a repair but that it would be out of warranty. I said that given the unseemly shenanigans on behalf of Virginia Electronics (whom Samsung endorses), I was owed at least the repair I should have received in the first place. She said she would escalate my request to a higher Customer Relations department who would be getting back to me within two business days. I never got the call back, so I phoned them back in a week. I was able to speak to someone in this advanced department, who reviewed the circumstances and graciously offered to, as a one time courtesy, repair my unit on their dime. Since I am not documenting a complaint about Virginia Electronics specifically, I'll skip the details about how the repair / part ordering / home visits have been dragging on for over a month now.. but it's worth mentioning that the first tech to visit stated that several capacitors on my power supply were blown; he'd heard about this exact issue in these units and in my case he thinks that the problem in my unit may have also burned out part of the mainboard which will probably also have to be replaced when he returns. I expect the unit to be repaired and working on Friday, September 25th. I only hope that the boards / power supplies they are using to replace the defective ones live up to the implied warrant of merchantability (something about lemon law here) we should expect from a company like Samsung... 1 year expressed warranty be damned. It wasn't until now, as I stare at the blank screen of my once beautiful TV which has given me no joy in over a month, that I thought to google "samsung tv recall" on the off chance that my model had been recalled. Given the volume of complaints dealing with the same exact issue across numerous models in the same product generation, Samsung owes its consumers new power supplies across the board since - warranty on the full tv notwithstanding - the power supplies are trash and not merchantable. I still think Samsung makes some of the best looking LCD products available, and I don't want to stop doing business with this company. If they offer a recall on my product line to replace the power supplies (and components adversely affected by faulty ones), I'm still willing to stake my cash on their products (since they will have replaced my individual parts by then anyhow). If it takes a class-action lawsuit to make them respond like a respectable company, I'll regretfully (but willingly) have to participate and collect any damages I'm owed, having spent money I could barely afford counting on Samsung's reputation to do right by me. If that should occur, I'll never buy Samsung again.. and neither will any of the friends who count on me for advice for all their electronic purchases (there are many). darnell of bellfontaine, MO September 20, 2009 we purchaced a samsung bp-1500 blue-ray in december of 08. After 6 months it stop working and afetr we have tried numerous of times to download there programs to update our system. I don't think I need to go anyfurther because I feel that there are alot of custermers thay have taken advantage of. If someone that is reading this and is interested in a class action law suit I will be more than happy to throw my name in the hat. Well I just red belpw and is intereted in a attorney I know that samsung know that have a problem. roxine of west palm beach, FL September 20, 2009 samsung 40" television keeps powering on and off by itself.this was purchased in 2006 and have'nt have had much use. this tv is just about 2yrs old i paid 1300 consequences i will have to buy another Rod of Mokane, MO September 20, 2009 Samsung LN54041D LCD TV has bad picture. The TV is less than 2 years old and this problem is similar to many I have read about on this website. Expensive TV, out over 500$ to fix. Travis of Chula Vista, CA September 20, 2009 Well 9/19 to my surprise a 3rd party vendor showed at my door. Now this past Wed a 3rd party contacted me and I told him I was waiting for a response from Samsung on the warrant extention I requested. He stated it would not be a problem and he would order the part and call me back. Well I never received a call back, but he showed today and fixed my TV with no cost to me. He stated these Samsung generate so much heat with the back lighting and the advanced features the relays go bad. Samsung is aware of this issue he stated. He tuned down the TV, which I can tell the difference and he stated I could put it back to factory, but the problem will come back sooner. Well I still have not received a call from Samsung from 9/13, but I do have a working TV. So keep bugging them on the phone guys, we have a valid complaint and I think they are trying to handle it on a one to one basis. David of beaverton, OR September 19, 2009 I bought a 40" LCD TV from Samsung on November 2006. Recently the tv started making clicking noises and cycling itself off and on. I have done research for this problem and it seems that this is common for Samsung. They used inferrior resistors on the power board. It will cost around $500-600 to fix it. Since this is a common problem with only Samsung tvs Samsung should fix them free of charge or at the very least with a nominal charge. SInce Samsung is not stepping up a class action lawsuite should be filed. I will never buy any samsung product again. Never. sharon of portland, TN September 19, 2009 purchased wide screen plasm tv in 2008 tv beautiful until about 1 month ago. now tv turns off and on by itself, now it does it so much i have to leave it off. as i was looking online i find that many other people are having same problem and now apperantly i am out 1500.00 dollars because the expense of fixing the problem is so high and samsung has been of no help. i can not believe the number of complaints and samsung has not been hard pressed to put out a recall and that hard working people that saved for a new, nice tv are now being riped off and no one cares. Cathy of Monroe, GA September 18, 2009 I researched the best LCD TV to purchase for over a year. I went from store to store, asking questions and even asked a family member who works on TV's which brand to buy, because I wanted to make sure I was getting a really good one if I was going to spend $1500.00-2000.00 on it. After much input, research, and educating myself, I finally purchased a Samsung 40" LCD HD TV(LN-T4061F)in Dec. 2007 from Sears for family Christmas Gift. It worked great, best HD picture ever, totally loved it, UNTIL about 6 months ago. The on/off relay started taking forever to turn on, about 5 minutes to start with, then 10, now 15 minutes, if I am lucky. I have to turn it on/off three or four times now. You have to turn it on, then back off then on again. Sometimes it will turn right on, sound only, but no picture. When it first come on there are always lines, like burn in, pink dots, or not a very clear picture, until you go through the process and finally you get a good picture. FOr now I go through this long process but it is coming on but is very aggrivating for what I spent and it being less than 2 years old! I called Samsung and they told me to power it on and off, at the TV, not the remote, still did not work or reset. They offered to send a tech at my cost of course and it is not under warranty now, but, it is less than 2 years OLD! Come on Samsung! I made a 24 year career on Customer Service, this is not customer service! It is getting worse day by day. The other night, luckily, I was awake when this happened at 4:00 in the morning, I just tried to come on by itself! Click/click, click, click. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE. The next day, it almost did not come on at all and it sizzled before doing so. NOT GOOD! We could loose our home or worse our lives. I sure hope Samsung wakes up soon before something really bad happend to someone because of this default! I have to unplug it now so I don't worry about a fire! When it goes out completely, I am going to explode, not the TV! I am afraid to turn it off because I am afraid it won't come back on, and, I am afraid to turn it on because it could start a fire. One day soon I'm going to know for certain I have wasted $1500.00 (which is the most I have spent on an appliance ever!) What a waste of money. I got laid off from my job and have been unemployed for over a year and still owe on the thing and we certainly don't need this. I have purchased Sony's, Panasonic's, RCA's but never will I ever purchase a Samsung "anything" again. Some one please help! Fred of philadelphia, PA September 17, 2009 Purchased a Samsung LCD LN46A650 in August of 2008, September of 2009 the TV had a on/off issue, the product would continually turn off and on. Called Samsung and was told this is a recognized issue, they can fix it, but I am out of warranty. This is a global issue with their TV's, yet they refuse to acknowledge responsibility to the consumer. The tech told me this TV will have this issue, not if but when, so people who purchase it should hope it happens w/ in the warranty period. A disgrace and my last Samsung purchase. Maurice of STAFFORD, VA September 17, 2009 After reading other consumers compliants, I come to realize that I have the same issue with my 46" Samsung Television. It started with red dots throughout the screen and now the TV will just click like it wantd to come on. I paid a great sum for this thing only to last less than too years, by all means I think Samsung should offer a recall to fix this issue. I should kept my 25" RCA floor model that I brought in 1984. It still working to date. Samsung has just lost a customer. Travis of Chula Vista, CA September 16, 2009 I purchased the Samsung LN46A650 on 5/25/08 during Memorial Day and paid 2100 for the TV on special. On Sept. 13, 2009 I turned the TV on to hear the infamous clicking that you all have stated. This doesn't look like a one off, but more of a defective product. So I called technical support and the 1st remark was your product is out of Warranty so I complained about a NEW TV that I bought less that 17 months old no longer works. The agent then stated she would escalate to Customer relations and request a extended warranty and a decision would be made within 48 hours. Well today would mark the 48 hour period and when I got tired of waiting for a call I called myself. I was told my request was still pending and I should wait 3 business days. All I have to say this is sad for such a suppose HIGH QUALITY TV. As much as I bragged on how great the 120Hz TV was I think I need to start warning my friends who are looking into the newer models. I will update you all when I get an update on my end, but I am seriously disappointed. the estimate I got from a TV repair was 500.00. I say Samsung has some explaining to do or a smell a class action lawsuit. I wish I would have searched complaints a long time back. Until my update... Shannon of yukon, OK September 16, 2009 Purchased a Samsung 40 inch LCD Flat Screen in Jan.2008. August of 2009 telvelsion began clicking on/off without actually turning on.I now have a television that turns on and off and that it all it will do.Called Samsung and was told that they are aware of the problem, BUT it was not a big enough problem to extend a warranty or repair. wayde of NASSAU, Bahamas September 12, 2009 Hi i purchased a 42":Samsumg plasma tv one year ago. however a few days ago i turned on my tv and all i got was a clicking sound. my case a a bit differ from most here because i purchased my tv in the usa and its much to expensive to send it to samsung from the bahamas to have them repair it. i paid $1,500 and i feel the repairs could cost me two times as much and to have it reshipped is going to cost even more. also before purchasing the tv i red most of the reviews and also visited the samsung website but at the time did not realise that the product was faulty. i feel that i have been tricked into purchasing a faulty product. i also think that samsung should be made to pay for misleading comsumer Ronald of Alpharetta, GA September 11, 2009 I have a two year old 46†SAMSUNG LCD television, model LN-S46. I paid over $2000 for it at HHGregg thinking I was getting a top-of-the-line model that would last for years -- the same as my SONY and PANASONIC sets had before it. A couple of days ago, the picture went to hell. The technician says the problem is an intermittent in the main signal board that can't be repaired. The cost of replacing the board exceeds $550 and the folks at SAMSUNG say it will take 7-10 days to get the part. The owner of the repair shop said that in the past couple of months, "It has been raining (broken) SAMSUNGS so perhaps all the chickens--er [bad] products" are coming home to roost. In the meantime, on the recommendation of CONSUMER REPORTS and the person selling appliance at Fry's, I have purchased a SAMSUNG washer and dryer and a 22 SAMSUNG LCD computer monitor. But you know what? Based on the kind of service I've gotten from the LCD TV, I'll never buy SAMSUNG again. Mark of Littleton, CO September 10, 2009 Same as many 46" TV LN-T4665F Starting up problem. Initially Relays click then eventually it starts up but with colored pixels over the whole screen. Then I have to switch off/on one more time and the pixels go away. This problem started about 6 weeks ago and is increasingly worse. Initially it would do this about 3 relay-clicks that were about 10 or 15 seconds apart. Then it went to about 6 clicks, 9, 11 clicks. Recently this changed to fast clicks on/off spaced about 2 seconds apart for about 5 minutes and finally powers up but only audio, no picture. I leave it on audio only for a while and try again. Powered off/on: it goes to the 10 or 15 second spaced clicks about another 6 times and the picture finally powers up with audio. Sometimes the picture is fine other times it has all these colored pixels lit up. In that case I wait another minute or two and power off/on one more time and I finally get a non-distorted picture. I am an electrical engineer and suspected a capacitor or some starter not heating up properly and I figured it would eventually get worse - I was right. I haven't researched the problem until now and I guess there is a lot of these out there. I am going to fix it myself if I can get a replacement part that is my next challenge. With only a 1 yr warranty I think this situation should be legally alleviated. A manufacturer knows about these things and its calculated in the bottom line prior to mass manufacture. Even if there is a defect not calculated there should be some additional insurance costs that were calculated in the case of a recall or defective product. The fault of a corporate idiot in the finance department that makes a decision to supersede a necessary cost calculation with future profit expectation should not be passed to consumers. Consumers that believed in this same Manufacturers product enough to make the purchase today, not in the future. The person(s) making the decision gambled current consumer wallets for stock holder futures. Its time for that to stop. Too many loopholes for legal entities yet dead ends for real human entities. Rajesh of Vishnu Garden, India September 10, 2009 I purchased a Samsung 29 inch Flat Tv from dealer ( Sargam Electronics, Jail Road, Hari Nagar. New Delhi-110058) in November 30th 2008. TV is working fine but a month ago I noticed a manufacturing defect behind TV cabinet which results loosely tight cabinets. I called even Samsung engineer to rectify the problem, he said that neither it can be replaced nor it can be repaired. I called several time to them but none of them from Dealer or from Samsung Service department turned up till date. I bought Samsung TV with the image that you have a good after sales service record but after this incident my belief got shaken. It looks funny that Dealer has delivered me TV with having manufacturing defect and shown me fine peace. [They] are requested to do the needfull otherwise Iam going to file a case against Samsun India and would also see to cancel the dealership of M/s Sargam Electronics who is totally failure in providing services to their customers and don't know even how to behave them after selling them a material. Mickey of bronx, NY September 10, 2009 Lcd Tv 4000 dollars now 1.5 yrs old turning on and off. Didn't get the extended warranty from best buy and now I am stuck. I am still making payments on it and it is not working. I have a panasonic 50 in lcd and it still runs awesome now for past 8 years. do not by samsung. They will not help us at all. Rodd of Newton, MA September 9, 2009 I am filing a complaint against Samsung Electronics for extremely poor customer service, inclusive of contradicting statements and disinformation from various customer service representatives, supervisors, and managers within Samsung's Customer Support department as well as Samsung's Executive Customer Relations department. My fiance and I purchased a 52" Samsung 240Hz LCD television (Model: LN52B750U1FXZA; Serial Number: AUM93CHS407368M) on June 11, 2009. The television was delivered on June 14, 2009. As of late August 2009, we began experiencing problems with the television, despite its gentle use and relatively few hours of total usage since date of delivery (06/14/2009). Beginning on September 1, 2009, I submitted a service repair request, under warranty, to Samsung Electronics and was issued the ticket number 4005498559. I was informed, via E-mail and Samsung's support site, that SASCOA Electronics Company of East Providence, Rhode Island, would contact me in order to schedule a date for in-home service repair. On the morning of September 2, 2009, I decided to call Samsung's Customer Support. My discussions with this department's personnel revolved around my request to exchange our malfunctioning HDTV for the same model television, given that we paid $2,499.99 for it and it was suffering from loud buzzing/humming/whooshing sounds when powered on, including the occasional extended delay between the time the system was powered on to when the image actually became visible on the screen. After having it for only around two months and suffering from this problem, I rethought my service request and wanted to request a replacement instead of a major repair for a new system. The total duration of calls to and from Samsung on 09/02/2009 went from 10:50am to 11:40am. One of the first people I spoke to was a person named Reiss (spelling not confirmed). After telling Reiss the above information, Reiss stated that, given the nature of the problem (most likely a failing power supply unit) and the very recent purchase of the television, it would most likely prove possible to have a replacement TV sent to me in lieu of a repair. Strangely, though, Reiss stopped there and passed me on to a woman named Tobi, who identified herself as a manager. Tobi, however, completely contradicted Reiss' response and stated that sending a replacement television, for whatever reason, is never an option and that " . . . if (I) read (my) warranty, (I) will see that the warranty only covers repairs." She went on to say that if she goes on to request a replacement on my behalf it will, without a doubt, come back as a denial. I then asked to speak to a manager above her. She at first hesitated to oblige, stating that anything said by a manager above her would only mirror what she was telling me. I stated that I definitely wanted a call back from a manager or supervisor above her. She then stated that I should expect a call from a manager from Samsung's Executive Customer Relations within the next 24 - 48 hours. Only minutes later, though, I received a call back from Samsung's Executive Customer Relations. A man named Paolo identified himself as a manager within this department. He stated he had my notes and I again summarized the above to him. He understood my frustration with both the tentative repair (which would require me to stay at home for a window of four hours, move all of my furniture, and lay a 52" new LCD TV on the floor so that a Samsung-contracted technician could easily access it and take it apart) as well as my frustration with different employees at Samsung stating that either I could get a replacement or that I could not receive a replacement. He added two additional months to my Samsung factory warranty but that did not fully satisfy me, given my initial request, disinformation, and a manger below him who initially did not want to transfer me to someone above her. He went on to say to at least give this first repair a try. He then went on to say, "if a repeat repair is needed, we can talk about a replacement." I ultimately agreed to this and the call ended at 11:40am. On September 3, 2009, at approximately 2:45pm, a Samsung-contracted technician from SASCOA Electronics Company arrived. She stated that her name was Michelle. She seemed professional in disassembling my new TV on my floor. After explaining to her what was happening, as well as through testing the TV, she stated that she did indeed believe the fault lay in my power supply unit, a large component board that she stated was a $150.00 piece of hardware. She ruled out the possibility of another faulty component, which would have been, as she informed me, the large element that actually heats up and illuminates the entire television. She stated that she has only had to replace that specific component on a LCD TV once or twice, and that the TV(s) on which she had to do this was/were five years old. So, she replaced the power supply only, having ruled out everything else, tested it, everything seemed fine, and she then reassembled the television. She finished at around 3:30pm; I had stayed home the entire day until this time to wait for this repair. Just three days later, however, the same problems/symptoms returned to our new LCD television. I called Samsung Customer support on 09/06/2009 at 5:15pm to report this recurrent issue, as well as all of the above, including the recent repair just three days earlier, and one of Samsung's Executive Customer Relations managers, Paolo's, words regarding a replacement if a further repair is needed. The person I spoke to this time was named Jasnique (spelling not confirmed); she stated that it is highly likely that I will receive a replacement television given I tried the first repair and the television is so new. She stated that if it was older, say about seven months another repair would be necessary. However, due to my situation, she stated that a replacement is highly likely and gave me a claim number of 3000531185. She stated that I would be given a call back from Samsung's Executive Customer Relations department on either 09/08/09 or the morning of 09/09/2009. I never received this call. So, I called Samsung's Customer support at 11:45am on 09/09/2009 and spoke with another representative (I do not possess her name). I stated the situation and that I never received a call from Samsung's Executive Customer Relations. She did not even connect me to that department but gave me the number to call. She did state, however, that she was sure that they would be happy to process my request for a new replacement. I called this number to Samsung's Executive Customer Relations and was answered by Moeesha (spelling not confirmed). I provided her all the background listed above, some of which she said was in the notes. I was very shocked that only "some" of the information was listed in her notes, as she stated, and that the actual names of who I had spoken to in earlier conversations are, as practice, never recorded in full -- only initials are used. I was already in shock. Adding to my dismay, she stated that I probably would never have received the promised call on which I was waiting because I requested a TV replacement; she stated Samsung would only deal with a repair! I told her of Paolo's words of, "if a repeat repair is needed, we can talk about a replacement." Ostensibly, Paolo was a manager within her department, ranked above her, but she stated he was wrong. She began repeating to me that a replacement would only be considered if the television needed three repairs or more! I stated that this was completely unacceptable and that I was tired of taking so much time out of my schedule dealing with my very first Samsung product and being continuously lied to and being fed disinformation via Samsung. I stated that I will be reporting this to Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. Upon hearing this, I heard her pause and immediately start typing. After a few moments, she stated that she will have someone else from Samsung's Executive Customer Relation's Claim's Department (part of her department?) call me withing three days regarding the possibility of a replacement. A few moments later she came back on the line and said that I will definitely get a call back. I then stated that since her supervisor seems to be available, I would like to talk to the supervisor. She refused to connect me to her supervisor. In fact, she went on to say that she (Moeesha) had all the abilities of a supervisor and if I did talk to a supervisor, the supervisor would give me the same information. I again asked to speak with her supervisor. To my dismay, she stated that the supervisor was busy and "kind of gets upset" when, in Moeesha's words, "we" have to ask questions. I asked for her supervisor's name. She stated this did not know the name. I again asked her what is the name of her supervisor. She stated that the supervisor's name is Jennifer. I asked her if it was common for a consumer like me to be refused to talk to a supervisor, especially considering how much money I just spent on their product and the fact that Samsung may or may not even call me, a consumer for its product. She again stated that she "Moeesha" was capable of doing anything (Jennifer) was capable of and that she (Jennifer) was busy. I am absolutely outraged at this company's gall and the dishonest people that work for it, whether purposefully dishonest or as a result of poor training. If needed, and Samsung will still not provide for the above, I have no problem contacting Samsung of America's C-level executives. I look forward to both the Better Business Bureau's and Consumer Affairs' assistance in this matter. guruvansh of DELHI, India September 9, 2009 I have a complaint against Samsung India w.r.t. their 29" coloured TV which was purchased on 19th June, 2008. From the 2nd month of its purchase it started giving problems. Since then their engineers visited and tried to solve the problem/rectify the fault, once they replaced one part but within 2-3 weeks of its replacement, same fault occured. I requested them to rectify the fault finally or replace the set but they ignored my request and replied that there is no big fault, it is rectified now. Unfortunately, after the expiry of guarantee period i.e. after one year same problem again started. When I informed them about this their Service Centre informed that this time they will not charge Visiting fee but next time we have to pay Visiting fee, and again they rectified the fault. But within 3-4 weeks same problem again occured. Please suggest me where to contact now for replacement of the defective set/refund of the my hard earned money of Rs.16500/-. Complaint sent to them in Hindi is enclosed. If possible, please forward my complaint to Samsung Company's Head Office about their Samsung India located in India about this incident. Most of the buyers of Samsung product in India are agrieved with Samsung Products but nobody cares once the product is sold. As per rules they should have replaced my set but they waited for the expiry of guarantee of TV so that after expiry they can't be blamed for the fault in the TV. Thanks cyndia of cincinnati, OH September 8, 2009 purchased a Samsung DLP 50" for $3000 and got 2600 hours of viewing before the digital board blew up. That equates to $1.00 per hour to watch the TV. The cost to repair with tech time $700+. This DLP was a replacement for our first DLP that ony lasted a few months. Scott of Seminole, FL September 8, 2009 Several weeks ago I began to have difficulty turning on my 2 and 1/2 year old 50" Samsung DLP television. When I would finally get the unit to power up the picture would freeze and or have green squiggly lines running through it. I went to the internet with my problem and was completely blown away at the number of folks that have exactly the same problem. I can believe that a company could ignore a small isolated problem; but my problem is everywhere, and furthermore these units cost most customers well of $1500 per. In my case I saved for well over two years before I could afford such a purchase. I can't believe that in today's "information age" Samsung is not completely aware of the countless problems with their DLP televisions. Fact is, they do know they have a problem but will ignore it until they are forced by some type of class action law suit to act like the responsible company they you to believe they are. I will never purchase another Samsung product for as long as I live. Samsung really should be ashamed of themselves. REGI of Fresh Meadows, NY September 7, 2009 My Samsung 46 inch LCD TV (LN-T4671) is only 16 months old. Recently, it started showing symptoms while turn on the Power. The power ON button pushed but I hear some relays click ON/OFF for about 8-10 times and eventually the power will turn on. I am afraid one day the TV will not turn on at all. I did some research on this issue and discovered that many Samsung LCD TVs have the same issue. Apparently some P/S capacitors are faulty or leaking and it cause the problem. Samsung is not being very helpful on this issue. dee of Westfield, NY September 5, 2009 We bought our Samsung 40"LCD flatscreen in 1/2008 and around 6/2009 our tv started to take longer and longer to turn on. When it did turn on there would be pink specks and white lines. Sometimes if you turned it back off the specks and lines would disappear. After awhile the spots wouldn't go away no matter what. Now the picture won't turn on at all, but we have sound. I can't tell you how upset we are because we thought we were buying a quality TV. I feel Samsung should do something about this considering that there is alot of other people that have the same problem which means there should have been a recall. Elaine of Eden, NY September 3, 2009 I have a less than 2 year old 46 \" LCD HDTV from Samsung and have the same issues with it not turning on, turns off & on, has pink dots all over the screen, seems like every day its getting worse. I did a lot of research and found that there are hundreds of people out there complaining about the same problem, and that samsung has not taken responsibility for the many similar issues. I just want to know if we are all complaining and are experiencing the same problems, why isn\'t anybody doing anything about it? I am dissappointed & exhausted from reading that these problems are not addressed when you call samsung customer service, so you know what? I will not even bother if I will get the run-a-round like the rest of them. I will just simpply not buy another samsung tv. I am simply hoping that enough people have complained to warrant some action. I saved my money for a very long time to purchase this 46\" beauty and cannot afford to purchase another one. Elaine of Eden, NY September 3, 2009 I have a less than 2 year old 46 " LCD HDTV from Samsung and have the same issues with it not turning on, turns off & on, has pink dots all over the screen, seems like every day its getting worse. John of McMurray, PA September 2, 2009 Bought a 42" DLP. In two months the entire engine stopped working. Had it replaced under warranty. Within a year of the warranty ending, the engine went up again. Repair estimate: $989.00. I only paid $1003 for the TV!! Wrote to Samsung since it appears they had some defective engines when this model was made. They haven't even had the courtesy to call me or answer my emial complaint to their home office. I would caution everyone considering a Samsung purchase of any type to give it serious thought. They are not very serious about standing behind their product. Once the sale is made, they don't seem to care if you remain a customer of theirs. Gina of New Braunfels, TX September 1, 2009 I puchased my 32 Samsung FEb 07 exactly 6 months after warranty expires the tv just comes on in the middle of night, I turn it off, 30 minutes later its back on again. I paid over $1000.00 for the Tv the warranty, and the high dollar surge protector that was recommended, now I call Samsung Customer Care and all they do is refer me to a another high dollar repair man. Expensive HD LCD TV's should have as long as life as the old anolog that would last forever. Due to the slow economy Im not sure when I will be able to fix the problem Jeremiah of Ewing, VA August 29, 2009 I sent the home Theater System to them Twice. The second time Samsung Damaged the property. I called them the day I recieved the item back on Jun 25 th of 2009 and was told to take picture which I still have. I bought this on oct 16 of 2008, and Faxed this to them on the same day 25th and was told I would recieve a phone call from them with in 48 to 72 hr. On July 6th it still was not reviewed and asked why, they would call me is the answer I got from them. On the 8th of july called them back to see what was up they had the email and still had not called me on this problem. on the 10 th i called them back to discusse this with them. they would expadite it and some one will call me with in 48 hr on. the 15th of july i called them. i had not hurd from them at all. they told me that they would have to call ups about the product being damaged. the box was in good shape and not been damaged. ups calls me on 25th of july to pick up the item. I called them back on Several time in august to see what the holdup is. called back on 20th they final gave me a produt code for shipment 4005352401 and I called back on the 28th and the product had not been ship yet. i asked them what they was sending to me. the product is nothing like the one i have. it is a 100.00 dollars differt than the one i bought. does not have tha same stuff on it as mine. they told me to dell with or they could send me the other unit back. Jijun of Lilburn, GA August 26, 2009 Bought a Samsung 52inch LCD 1080P in Feb of 2007. Now it started to have same problem as a lot of Samsung users had: Needs to wait long time for it to turn on. After turned on, there are numerous purple dots all over the screen. After one more time off-on cycle, the TV will ba back normal. After reading all the complains here, it is obvious to me that Samsung used a defect part on all its Hi-Def TVs. Wish someone stand-up to file a law-suit on Samsung soon. Robert of bellmore, NY August 26, 2009 I purchased my Samsung 40" LCD LNT- 4061F in June 2007 for $1400. Last week I started experiencing issues with the TV recycling itself, turning on and off repeatedly. Now all I see are vertical white lines, "that is when the TV actually stays on!". I called tech support and I was walked thru all the steps necessary to recycle the TV to fix the problem, no such luck! I did a little Goggling only to discover many other Samsung owners with the exact same issue. So I called Samsung again explaining that this problem seems to be wide spread and if they were aware of it and possibly willing to work with those effected. The answer was no and no. So here I wait for a for the service company to call me back to schedule my 75 buck look-see. I figured a TV should last more than 2 years. This will be my last Samsung purchase EVER!!! Sonny of Cerritos, CA August 25, 2009 Purchased a Samsung 50" 720P Plasma tv (Model: HP-S5053), Aug. 28,2006. I paid over $3000 include tax and shipping charges. A couple of weeks ago, sounds works but no pictures. I call samsung to get authorize service center near by my home. They charged for travel $35 (0.2mile from my house. Chris of Brook Park, OH August 22, 2009 Purchased a Samsung 40" 720 LCD tv September 29,2006. Final purchase price $2100. A couple of weeks ago I started noticing the problem I now see so many other people have had, it took longer to turn on. It would just click a couple of times and the sensor light would flash four times, then it would turn on. It started to take longer each time I turned it on, now it doesn't even come on it just continues to click. This tv is barely pushing 3 yrs old and I am sure if I contact Samsung I will here what so many other people have heard "It's out of warranty heres a service center number for you." I would like to know if anyone has had there tv serviced for this and what the actual cause is (internal power supply?) how much and is it worth paying 100's of dollars to get a 720p fixed. Samsung needs to resolve this issue! and there tv's still get high reviews on consumer websites. I will never buy another Samsung! Irvin of New York, NY August 22, 2009 Purchase Samsung TV June 06 41" Paid 2700 August 19,2009 Picture went, LCD panel no good.cost to replace $19800. This is insane..I will never buy a Samsung product again. cyndia of cincinnati, OH August 20, 2009 purchased a samsung DLP 50" television it is less then 3 years old and is rarely ever watched. It may have 200 hours of use. The TV is not operational, blue and green plaid lines are over the entire screen. Customer service says that it is out of warranty. I looked on this web site and say 100's of complaints about the samsung TV. In every case... the owner was not provided any financial support to fix the issues. I paid possibly $3.00 every time I turned the TV on and now it will cost me $$$ to fix it. My fear is ... that no one is pressing charges against Samsung and forcig them to look at thier faulty product. A recall should be in order. Stephanie of Winslow, AZ August 19, 2009 We purchased a Samsung 46' LCD from Best Buy in November 2007. Up until about 2 months ago the TV was working fine. Then we started noticing problems with a delay in turning on the TV-it would click and click and finally come on. Shortly after this problem then we noticed purple spots all over the picture. We would turn the TV off then back on which sometimes worked other times we would have a spectrum on color on the screen-no picture but did have audio. Samsung customer service advised us to unplug the TV for about 5 minutes to allow the TV to reset-this worked for a few times, now all we see when we turn on the TV is the color spectrum-no menu. Of course our warranty has run out and because we live in a rural community-trying to get a technician to come look at the TV has been nada. Samsung gave us a number to call for service-that's who we called and it was a prepaid $85.00 charge to schedule a technician to come look at the TV. We have yet to hear from a technician-we were told the tech who was to call to schedule "didn't want to drive to our town." So they are trying to locate another technician. Best Buy store we brought our TV at also told us they don't service flat screen Tv's over 30'. Funny how that wasn't mentioned when we bought the TV. From the posted comments I have read-sounds like we are in the same situation as the rest of you folks. Samsung really needs to be held accountable for the unreliablity of their products. We too have spent a quite of deal of money for a product we haven't been able to use. Any suggestions on a reliable product with an accountable company for future purchases? We have yet to see if our TV is worth repairing as we are still waiting for the technician Samsung referred us to to call to even set up an appointment. Out $1800.00 Jesse of Eugene, OR August 19, 2009 I purchased a 40" Samsung 1080P LCD HDTV from Best Buy on February 18, 2008 for 1,299.99 dollars. I used my television frequently and took care of it because it was the most I've ever spent on a material possession. 14 months later, the picture went black while the audio was still audible. I Googled the problem and started to find many others with issues that were similar on other Samsung products. The next day the picture came on and so I didn't delve further into the problem because I was busy with college classes. Now it's August 19, 2009 and my Samsung TV has had no picture for about two weeks. I've called Samsung over five times to figure out what's wrong and sent in my bill-of-sale just for them to finally tell me that there's nothing they can do and have no planned recalls on any of their products, nor will they contact me if there is such a recall in the future. They wouldn't extend my warranty even though Microsoft did for their XBOX360 consoles when theirs were flawed. Sam of Crandon, WI August 19, 2009 The Samsung TV I purchased appoximately 1 1/2 years ago won't turn on. It continually beeps and no picture comes up. It will take several minutes to come on. I read this is a very common problem and Samsung won't acknowledge this is a defect in the product. I tried the Samsung phone line to no avail. I just wanted my complaint known to everyone else that is considering buying a Samsung TV. Don't do it!!! vince of camino, CA August 18, 2009 Purchased on 11/23/2004 Samsung plasma TV from Denlznet ($3288.88) with extended 5 year warranty from Consumer Priority Service ($399.99), warranty is for free repair or replace. Warranty was applied for by phone on 12/16/2004 and I was confirmed as covered and given the account #200779. TV quite working and so I made a claim to CPS via internet on 08/01/2009. Was confirmed to have registered warranty status and was contacted by CPS on 08/03/2009 denying coverage. CPS offered to buy out the remaining warranty coverage, pro-rated, have a service call done, but would pay for no repairs. I had my own service call done est. $1993.17. I then purchased a new plasma TV. I have receipts and copies of emails to CPS if you need them. Wayne of Oakland, CA August 17, 2009 Like so many others on this site, we have problems with the 46" plasma tv starting up -- it clicks on and off and on and off for a few minutes before it comes on. The time gets longer every day. And once it comes on, it has purple pixels all over the screen, also getting more numerous every day. My mom thought it was Comcast's fault and called them, but they --apparently quite correctly-- said it's the tv's fault. I hope someone files a class-action suit -- by all means contact me if you need a plaintiff. James of Fuquay Varina, NC August 16, 2009 I purchased a Samsung 37" LCD TV 16 months ago and all of sudden the screen went blank. Audio still works. Samsung said it is out of warranty and I am on my own. This bites!!! Thomas of Spring, TX August 15, 2009 I purchased a 50" plasma tv made by samsung about 7 months ago. The unit has a 3 year warranty. After just 5 months, the tv blew up while my family and I were watching some movies. The screen evidently cracked when this happened but it is on the inside part of the glass not the outside that you can physically touch. the repair service that I reported this to said that he has 2 others with the same problem and he told me that many other service managers were complaining about the same issue on their conference call with samsung. I found a man on the internet that had the same problem and 20 others online that have reported the same problem. Samsung has refused to repair the unit, stating that the panel has physical damage. of course it does, the unit self destructed and blew up! The tv was never moved from its original location at delivery and does not have a scratch on it. The outer glass of the screen is blemish free. ava-maria of coral springs, FL August 11, 2009 i bought a samsung dlp 50" tv from circuit city in 2008 not even 2yrs old and now i am getting white dot all over the screen daily.of course i have no waranty on the tv. i've contacted samsung and they have put me on to a repair tech in my area. they are suppose to come on fri the 14th. but now reading that my ex perience is no different from several others, irealize this is a lost case. iabsolutely refuse to buy a part for 850.00. so i guess my next step is a new tv from a different company. thank u all for enlightening me Michael of Los Angeles, CA August 9, 2009 I filed the following complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding this Samsung 26-inch LCD Monitor, Model Number LS26KIEEFV/XAA:
Nancy of Tallmadge, OH August 9, 2009 I purchased a Samsung 46" tv in October 2008 from Sears. It started having distortion problems within a month. Thinking it could not be a new tv problem we assumed it was our satellite box. We had it checked and it was fine. After eight months the whole picture went. Sears repairman came out and informed us it was a factory defect, the circuit board blew up. It was to be repaired in one week and to make a long story short it is now August 8th and we are still waiting. Wrong parts and cancellations continue to go on. Sears will do nothing to help resolve this and we are at our wits end. In the meantime our two year old Kenmore front load washer needs eight hundred dollars worth of repair. That appt. was also cancelled. I guess thirty-five years of Sears store loyalty isn't enough. Laura of Canton, MI August 7, 2009 We bought a Samsung LCD tv and have owned it about fifteen months. Now we can hear audio but see no visual. Of course it is now out of warranty. I have found hundreds of complaints for this problem but have not found a class action yet. We spent over $2 k for a tv that has not even worked for two years. M. of Vancouver, WA August 7, 2009 I purchased a Samsung Model number LN-T4042H (40 inch)approx. 2 years ago. When turning on the TV, there is a clicking noise and no picture. TV repeatedly turns on and off and finally stays on after about 11 attepts (for now). Judging by the vast amount of comlaints on the internet, it seems as if Samsung is choosing to ignore an obvious flaw in their product. When I asked a customer service agent about the capacitor problem in their TV'S I was immediately brushed off and given a phone number to a local repair shop which I get to pay. It seems to me that there is a huge problem with not just my models capacitors, but all makes and models of Samsung televisions. They need to get on the ball and accept the fact that they put defective merchandise on the market and fix this problem! Richard of Union City, CA August 6, 2009 I Bought a Samsung 61" Tv HL-R6167W about 30 months ago. For the last 2 weeks, when turning it on, just hear several clicks. It taking 1min tend turn off, nothing on the screen. Actual It will not turn on at all. When contacting Samsung, they were quick to point out that my TV was out of warranty. Even though I have since read on the internet of MANY similar experiences by other consumers. When emailing Samsung's customer service dept to express my dis-satisfaction, they never responded. This TV cost me $2200, It is a piece of junk. Samsung claim this is not their responsibly. The TV is virtually worthless and Samsung could care.. It seems to me there should have been a recall on their TV's due to the large amount of other consumers that have had this problem. I WILL NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG PRODUCT AGAIN! Greg of Lebanon, TN August 5, 2009 Bought a Samsung 40" Tv MDL# LN-T4061F about 18 months ago. For the last 3 months, when turning it on, you hear a series of clicks. Often taking up to 10 minutes before the set would come on. When it does come on, there would be a series of colored vertical lines on the screen. It now will not turn on at all. When contacting Samsung, they were quick to point out that my TV was out of warranty. Even though I have since read on the internet of MANY similar experiences by other consumers. When emailing Samsung's customer service dept to express my dis-satisfaction, they never responded. I now have a year and a half old TV that was purchased for $1600 that is now virtually worthless and samsung could care less. It seems to me there should have been a recall on their TV's due to the large amount of other consumers that have had this problem. I WILL NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG PRODUCT AGAIN! Out $1600 bucks Ed of Plano, TX August 5, 2009 Samsung DLP HD TV HLT5075 Less than 2 years old deveoped " stars or dots on the screen. After numerous attempts to contact the company for help, all I got was the run around and no help. The expensive TV is unwatchable and with help from others found out it was a DLP chip problem that seems to be a defect in the product. The repair costs range from $500-800 dollars. Samsung will not take resposibility for their faulty products. Buyer beware!! Andrew of Sterling, VA August 4, 2009 Purchased at 46' Samsung DLP (model HL-S4676S) from Circuit City in September of 2006. The cost was $1700, not including $200 for a two year warranty. White spots have recently begun to appear on the screen. Have spent several hours in the AV forums, and have noted that repairs cost roughly $800. This is ridiculous... Christina of Woolwich, ME August 3, 2009 In February 2008 we purchased a 42in LCD TV from Circuit City. By July it would no longer turn on. I contacted my warranty and the serviceman came and took it to his shop. After almost four months of arguing with Samsung and Circuit City, they finally decided it could not be fixed and gave me a replacement. We upgraded to a 46in but since the serviceman returned the old TV to the wrong store they would have to send us our receipt for the TV and the warranty we just re bought. The receipt never showed up and I couldn't get anywhere with Circuit City. Instead they sent me an application for a warranty which I had all ready bought. After arguing daily for over four months with Samsung previously, I was done with it, and we just kept our fingers crossed that this TV will work okay. Two weeks ago the upgraded replacement TV LNT4661F started messing up. Half of the screen blacks out whenever there are any bright colors. It is getting worse and taking longer to snap out of it. It is pretty bad when the best working TV in my house is 25+ years old and free. Miranda of Orlando, FL August 2, 2009 We purchased a 50 inch DLP that sosts over $2000. Of course, after the warranty ended white spots started to appear in the screen. At first there were two spots, and now there are nine of them. Of course, there is nothing that Samsung can do, and according to them, they've never heard of this issue. I'm willing to join in a class action suit if you all are willing. It is absolutely ridiculous that they aren't acknowledging this issue. Jennifer of Wilmington, NC August 2, 2009 We bought a 42" LCD flat screen 2.5 yrs ago and for the past 6 months we have had problems with the picture going out. Then no problems for 2 months and now again the picture on the tv suddenly goes black but the sound continues. We turn it off, give it a second, turn it on and still no picture. The warranty expired, of course, right before this started happening. Now we are trying to decide what to do. Obviously calling Samsung is a waste of time. How many complaints have to be filed before there is some sort of consequence for Samsung. herman of beaufort, SC July 31, 2009 I purchased a new samsung 50" dlp tv in mid 2003. I was told that the bulb would need to be replaced about every three years and I would have essentially a new tv. the bulb failed after 9 months and it was replaced under warranty. two years later the bulb failed again and I replaced it at a cost of $300.00. 2 years later the bulb failed and required replacing so the technician ordered a new bulb that did not fit. after two more bulbs that did not fit they found the correct bulb but the tv did not work. so they ordered and installed a ballast but the tv did not work. then they ordered and installed a color wheel but the tv would not work. I was then told that the repair needed was to install a new light engine that would cost $800.00. I contacted samsung six times over the next six months attempting to get some assistance on the repair but was finally told that the set depreciated 20% each year and had no value and thus they would not help at all with executing the repair. So i have a 50" tv in the garage that is worth $300.00 and needs a $800.00 repair. I can not give it away and must pay to dispose it in a landfill. I will never purchase a samsung product again. I will advise anyone who will listen to do likewise. Their products and especially their service were terrible. Daniel of Gurabo, Puerto Rico July 25, 2009 I bought a 50" Samsung DLP TV for over $2000 by summer 2007. By summer 2009 white spots appeared on the TV screen, which keep multiplying almost every day. Since warranty is already past due, Samsung is recommending to contact a service provider. They are not considering this as a manufacturing defect. I'm completely disappointed at their feedback and support. Glynn of Hampton, GA July 17, 2009 I bought a Samsung LNS4095D Sept 2006. July 2009 well after the warranty expired the white dotted lines that I have heard so much about appeared across the screen in two places. I took it to a local repairman who said it was the "signal board" quoted $350.00 for repairs. But after a month he said his supplier could not get the parts--so I picked up the set. I then called Samsung to find an authorized service man. Contacted the service man they recommended, and was told to email photos of the screens. The service man's secretary called and advised that the technician had determined the set needed a new screen and the part would cost $850.00. I then called Samsung executive customer service and asked if there were any recalls on this set and was told "No". I asked if they could discount a replacement or give me a deal on a remanufactured model. I was told executive customer service only can deal with the warranty and my set was out of warranty. Apparently from the internet chatter Samsung was and is aware of this problem and their refusal to deal with it in good faith should alarm future customers. Michelle of Holdrege, NE July 10, 2009 On March 4, 2008 we purchased a LCD television made by Samsung for $1200. Two days ago the screen went black and the tv will no longer turn on. We contacted Samsung whose phone lines were so busy we were advised to call back the next day. When I was finally able to get a hold of an actual person I was told there was nothing Samsung would do about the issue because the tv was four months past warranty. I mentioned the issue to my neighbor who said the exact same thing happened to her Samsung television. This prompted me to do an internet search which revealed that this is a widespread problem with Samsung televisions; specifically a "power supply board" issue. Samsung is not willing to stand behind its product, or worse yet, is KNOWINGLY selling tv's they know will break down. Jay of Destrehan, LA July 10, 2009 12/26/06 bought Samsung 46" DLP HLS4676SX. Lamp has already been replaced. July 5,2009 white dots started showing up and are multiplying. Samsung lied and said they had never heard of this, were told it was out of warranty and they couldn't do anything about it. They gave us the name of their authorized technician. Upon internet search immediately came up with lots of forums on the same subject and same time frame with Samsung DLP's. Called Samsung to register a complaint and ask for a recall. It was escalated to the ECR Department and I was told to send in bill of sale and estimate of repair for case review to 973-529-0293, please put transaction # on fax for the review. The DLP cost w/shipping is $160.51, the evaluation by technician when brought in is $96.00/applied toward repair. I'm hesitant to have evaluated without promise of Samsung's assistance as it may go out in another 2 and half years. William of Frisco, TX July 7, 2009 I purchased a 50" Samsung DLP TV in April 2007 - Model # HL-T5075S. In May of 2009 several white dots began to appear on the screen. I made several contacts with Samsung to assist in the repair of the unit. Was promised on multiple occasions that my case would be reviewed by Executive Escalations, however never received a return phone call. I ultimately had the unit repaired at a cost of $411.35 for the replacement od a DLP Chip. It is obvious based on all of the interned chatter that this is a widespread problem, however no one from Samsung will admit to this. I was told by the service center that Samsung represented that this is a major problem. It was so evident that they didn't even have to diagnose my tv, and knew exactly what the problem was based on speaking to me. They arrived with part in hand. Y of 1720 Marlborough Drive, GA July 6, 2009 We bought a 52" Samsung DLP tv four years ago and after about 18 months, it stopped working. We have contacted Samsung customer service several times with very little result since the warranty has expired. We were told by various repair shops that it can cost about $850 to repair the tv. I do not understand how Samsung can be rated as one of the best tv manufacturers when their tvs stop functioning soon after the warranty runs out and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We do not plan on ever again purchasing a Samsung product and we discourage our friends from making the same mistake we did. Diana of Middleville, MI June 30, 2009 Our Samsung RB2155BB has started constantly beeping (the beeping it makes when the frig is left open too long), the frig won't keep the correct temp (shows 60 degrees) and the freezer goes from minus 13 to minus 2. The 'live chat' person on Samsung's site told us to unplug it, then wait a few minutes and it will reset itself, tried this many times with no change. We are loosing a frig full of food and I'm diabetic that needs to keep my medicine refrigerated at all times. The beeping alone is enough to drive you nuts. Russ of The Woodlands, TX June 26, 2009 My wife bought me a 50" Samsung DLP television for Christmas two-and-a-half years ago. About six months ago, a white dot appeared on the screen. Last week, the spots began to multiply daily. I now have 11 white dots on my screen. Looking at the internet, I see that this is a pervasive problem with Samsung DLP TVs. It typically starts to show up when the set is about two years old. Samsung refuses responsibility for the obvious manufacturing defect, because the TV is out of warranty. Apparently, to Samsung, it is perfectly acceptable for a $1400 TV to function for just two years. Art of Pahrump, NV June 23, 2009 I have a warranty problem with my Samsung SAM/HLS5086W DLP Television Monitor. My warranty identifies the above phone # as the only contact for service. Unfortunately this number is perpetually "busy." HOW DO I OBTAIN SERVICE? My Television is unusable! sally of Houston, TX June 19, 2009 The DLP chip on my HL-S4666 television set is failing, resulting in a mass of white dots on the screen. After seeing this same problem on several sites on the Internet, I asked Samsung if there was a recall of this part due to its wide-spead failure. The response was that they had no information that this was a problem, that they had never heard of it before. That response is the same as received by several other consumers. The pattern of failure is very similar among those reporting the problem, as is the timetable of the failure--usually 2 years after purchase. This is a defect for which Samsung should accept responsibility. I found over 100 people on one website that have this problem please help us!!!!! Monika of Bohemia, NY June 18, 2009 After just 2 years of very moderate use my beautiful 65" LCD Samsung got black screen. There is sound but no picture. We send it to the service and the new part will cost $1700 (LCD PANEL), that's half what we paid for the TV. It really is more economical to just buy a new one at this point, I called and ask if Samsung is willing to sell a part at some promotional price, but they are only interested in selling new TV or extended warranties for $880 a year. I check out around and this is a very common issue, this TV's have defective LCD panels which stop working just in 12-18 months after purchase. The warranty in the US is only for 12 months, but as I found out in Europe no TVs are sold without at least 2 Year factory warranty. Why the US customers are treated unequal by the same company. My second concern is if they sell a product worth $3,780 and it brakes just after 2 years, why Samsung is still allowed to sell those lemons as good, reliable products. I also think the wait time of 30 minutes, or putting you hold and then dropping your call is really an example of bad customer service. (Customer was calm and respectful!) Sharron of New Truxton, MO June 17, 2009 The DLP chip on my HL-S4676S television set is failing, resulting in a mass of white dots on the screen. Donald of Moraga, CA June 2, 2009 i bought this tv in 3/06. 2 wks ago the tv would not turn on. i checked the manual and it told me to buy a new lamp (cost=$165 at a discount house). the new lamp did nothing. i called samsung who told me that there was nothing they could do. they referred me to a local repair shop. the shop estimated that the repair would cost $350 to $500. i paid $2000 for this tv. now i know the quality is poor. this will be the only time i repair this tv. next time i will buy a better quality tv by reading posts like this. Terry of Olathe, KS May 28, 2009 In January,2006 I purchased a 56" Samsung DLP Hi-Def television from the Best Buy store in Olathe, KS, for my home. The following year, approx. 2 months after the warrenty expired, the TV quit on me. I contacted Best Buy and they sent a service rep out to repair the set. Apparently the power supply had failed. This was corrected by replacing the capacitors. The entire repair took over three weeks. In Dec., 2008, the set failed again. Best Buy replaced the entire power supply. This entire process took over 3 weeks. In both instances I paid in excess of $200 for each repair. On May 25, 2009, the TV failed yet again. Best Buy told me the initial service call would cost $130 just to diagnose the problem. Being fed up with both Best Buy and Samsung, I have since gone to a different store and purchased another TV and have disposed of the Samsung. Cost of original Samsung model HL-S5679W television=$2500. Cost of repairs (Labor)=$520 (Parts)=$850 Approx. Cost of new TV (Panasonic TH-50PZ85U)= $2000. In addition to the financial costs there is also the fact that my family and I were deprived of the use of the Samsung for over 6 weeks during this time frame. Ashley of Southaven, MS May 28, 2009 I bought a Samsung 42" Plasma Screen Tv a year and half ago it went out right after the Year Waranty. The tv screen just went blank but should it had power and all it did like most that I have read so far was just click. Called Samsung they quickly told me that my waranty was out and that they could set up a service call for me to have tv checked out at my exspence. Service people never called or showed up. My tv is still in repair and has been for 3 months now and I'm fighting with Samsung to pay for parts because I was told the mother boards went out in my tv that was barely a year old. This is manufacturers defeat in my opion and we all need to stand toghether in this matter and make Samsung stand behind thier product seeing a we have all paid good money for thier product. william of hanover , NH May 24, 2009 3 years ago, i bought a 42" LCD samsung TV from Butterfly photo in NYC. the TV wont turn on and goes thru a series of "clicks". i've read of numerous others with the same complaint. what's distressing is that i BOUGHT an extended warranty from when i bought the TV upon their advice. now they say the warranty company is out of business and they bought the company (butterfly photo) 2 years ago and have NOTHING to do with previous purchases or problems. what a way to do business. they bought a company with its assets and liabilities and won't stand behind the customer. i encourage everyone to boycott samsung products and butterfly photo. samsung needs to recall this tv and fix the power supply problem that many are having. i lost the $400 for the extended warranty and now have to repurchase a tv for approximately $800-1200. O'Neal of Walker, LA May 23, 2009 We purchased a Samsung 40" LCD TV from Best Buy in December of 2007 for $1200.00. In May of 2009, only 17 months later, whenever you would try to turn the TV on, you would hear a series of clicks. After about 2 minutes of clicking, it would finally turn on. This continued for about a week before the TV would not turn on at all. When contacted, Samsung was quick to point out that the TV was out of warranty and that there was nothing that they could do. Best Buy was of the same attitude. Television sets aren't disposable anymore but Best Buy and Samsung are treating us like we should be able to afford an average of $800.00 a year for a TV. Steve of Lady Lake, FL May 21, 2009 samsung ln t3253hxx/aa the back cover of tv had no metal inserts or meatal plate for the wall mount hanging braket screws to go into. screws pulled out of back of tv. the threads were full of plastic. looking futher into this I found evey modal had metal insert or plate. someone some where failed to do there job. Best Buy said it should have had metal for screws to go into but said I had to contact samdung yes samdung. when it fell to the floor it barely missed our grandchild. this qualifies as mfg defect and libility. As always these days the consumer pays the price. the mfg of most all of our products from other country's have become smarter and wittier than us. Virginia of Rohnert Park, CA May 18, 2009 Samsung HL-S4676S 46-Inch rear projection tv. Set is only 2 1/2 years old. It was great until it developed a very small bright white spot on the screen. 2 weeks later there are close to 50. I have found numerous complaints about this on the internet. Apparently these sets from 2006-2007 have a common problem. I am in contact with the holder of the exteneded warranty I purchased for $400.00 from Circuit City. The company tells me they have no record of my policy. Randal of Youngsville, LA May 17, 2009 I purchased a Samsung LCD tv on Dec of 2007 and the tv wont turn on. It cycles like it wants to turn on but nothing. My tv is out of warranty and have read many complaints of this same problem. I called samsung and they basically told me its out of warranty and im out of luck. I think we need a recall on this product to get this issue fixed. I believe its a major defect in the boards they installed in these tvs. Randal of Youngsville, LA May 17, 2009 I purchased a Samsung LCD tv on Dec of 2008 and the tv wont turn on. Miguel of Brandon, FL May 16, 2009 We've been using our new 50" Samsung plasma TV for 5 weeks, all of the sudden while we're watching TV a loud noise comes out of it and a line starts appearing on the screen. It turned out to be a crack on the panel, but in the inside. The TV is not even mounted, we didn't touch it, didn't do anything to it and it's been sitting there for 5 weeks. A Tech sent by Samsung looked at it and specify to Samsung that there was no external damage, not a a scratch... NOTHING, still they refuse cover the TV because they say we damaged the TV.... HOW????? BY WATCHING TV???? I've also seen a few posts on different websites about this, has anybody been successful on getting the TV fixed? this is unacceptable. Ernest of Orinda, CA May 14, 2009 My complaint is on Samsung's false, unethical and deceptive advertisement. We purchased our 32 in. Flat-Panel LCD Samsung TV because it was advertised to have the PIP feature. To any normal consumer, the industry standard of a PIP means that when you install the TV, you should be able to view one channel on the main screen and another channel on a smaller screen (sub-picture) simultaneously. We could not get it to work this way. The remote does not have a PIP button, and buried deep in the user’s manual it indicates that you have to purchase extra equipment and even so, you can only get another analog signal. I cannot believe that this is Samsung’s definition of PIP! There was not even a fine print in their ad to warn people of their obsolete analog technology and extra cost required.
John of Corona Del Mar, CA May 13, 2009 Got the white dots!! Got the same cold reception from Samsung as so many of my fellow "White Dot Victims" I guess the pixels are out.. Delrose of Clermont, FL May 12, 2009 I bought a Samsung LCD TV from Best Buy on 31 July 2007. It was unused for over 6 months when I was out of the country. In April 2009 the picture went. I had no extended warranty so when I spoke to Samsung they gave me the name of an authorised repairer. First, they said it would cost $300 to replace the "board", I reluctantly agreed but then they discovered that the screen wasn't working also and advised it wasn't worth repairing it. Samsung said there was nothing they could do as the tv was out of warranty. I paid $950 for the TV and only used it approximately 12 months. I was told by the repair company that this frequently happened to flat screen TVs. Surely, for the price being charged these TVs should have a longer life span. Also, shouldn't Samsung be more helpful in the interest of good customer relationships. I would certainly not purchase a Samsung product again and have already been advising all my friends and family NOT to do so. Susan of VISALIA, CA May 12, 2009 I bought a Samsung DLP 50" TV in 2005 for $2400. It worked great for almost 3 years. Then the ballast had to be replaced, then the lamp for $350 total. I could handle that if it lasted. Now one year later the ballast and lamp have failed again. At least $450 to fix and that's if the change out works. Samsung feels no responsibility for failed parts. Twenty years ago I bought a 27" RCA TV that had circuitry problems after 4 years. RCA agreed that a TV should last longer than that and paid half of the repair costs. Now I am still watching that same RCA TV since my Samsung HDTV is a piece of junk. Too bad that companies won't stand by their products any longer... justin of saugus, MA May 12, 2009 my 50" plasma had dead pixels set up a repair, found out that because i registered online they extended it 3 months, they picked up the tv replaced the panel and dropped it back off, with in 3 hours the tv was acting up worse then when i sent it out, called samsung, they re-submitted a claim, the repair facility declined to repair it again, had to wait a week adn call back the ecr department they finally approved another company to fix it, after each call i was reassured by samsung not to worry that they would repair it and i stressed how i was concerned about someone else looking at it and what if it happened again, i was reassured again it would be exchanged, i kept asking at no charge , and they continued to tell me it would be taken care of, so here i am after 6 days the tv has jet black pixels all over the tv, the authorized the exchange but now want a sales recipt that i have misplaced, and now that circuit city is out of buisness i have no way to get a duplicate. and now they are requesting a $325.00 exchange fee this is obsurd, if i knew this from the get go. i would have called circuit city befor they totally went belly up and got a duplicate. justin of saugus, MA May 12, 2009 my 50" plasma had dead pixels set up a repair, found out that because i registered online they extended it 3 months, they picked up the tv replaced the panel and dropped it back off, with in 3 hours the tv was acting up worse then when i sent it out, called samsung, they re-submitted a claim, the repair facility declined to repair it again, had to wait a week adn call back the ecr department they finally approved another company to fix it, after each call i was reassured by samsung not to worry that they would repair it and i stressed how i was concerned about someone else looking at it and what if it happened again, i was reassured again it would be exchanged, i kept asking at no charge , and they continued to tell me it would be taken care of, so here i am after 6 days the tv has jet black pixels all over the tv, the authorized the exchange but now want a sales recipt that i have misplaced, and now that circuit city is out of buisness i have no way to get a duplicate. and now they are requesting a $325.00 exchange fee this is obsurd, if i knew this from the get go. i would have called circuit city befor they totally went belly up and got a duplicate. Eugene of Evergreen, CO May 2, 2009 I purchased a Samsung DLP Television in Littleton, CO in Aug. 2007. Model HL-4675S. I paid an extra $450.00 for the extended warranty for four years coverage. In Feb. 2009 the bulb went. We were without television for three full weeks waiting for a bulb to be delivered. Last Wed. the TV went out again. I called the service people and was told someone would contact me in one or two business days. Nothing. I called back and was given the number for their local service company in Denver. I called them and was told that they had the service call logged and someone was supposed to call me soon to get a version number so they could pre-diagnose the problem. I gave her the version number and she said a tech would call me back to set up a service appt. NOTHING. out of the 20 months that I've had this TV it has been disabled for 1 month. Or, 5% of the life of the TV. Dominick of Midlothian, VA May 1, 2009 We purchased a new home and also a new TV from Best Buy, we choose the Samsung LCD LNT4061F 42 In. and about 12 or 13 months later the product began to start slowly and within a couple of weeks it would start with lined of different colors vertically appearing instead of starting. I called Samsung tech support, the first thing he asked me was when we purchased the TV I told him Nov.2007, he quickly informed me it was out of warrantee and that I should call a service person and that we should have purchased the extended warrantee. Now the TV no longer shows a picture or sound. Samsung makes shoddy products and give terrible service. The TV cost $2300.00 and lasted 12 or 13 months depending if you count from the moment it failed. illusion of jupiter, FL April 30, 2009 I purchased a Plasma tv, which i paid $1200 for a little less than 2 yrs ago. i called samsung to see what i can do to fix and find the issue, i find out i am out of warranty and am told all they can do is find a samsung authorized dealer in the area to diagnose the problem, which i agree to and after a $100 diagnosis fee i find out the display panel has a shortage and its going to cost me $1000 to fix the tv i paid $1200 for. I called samsung again today and spoke to a customer relations representative in hopes the might be able to help me with something. I dont want money all i want is for them to meet me half way on the cost, maybe repair, replace it...at this point anything that is cheaper than $1000. The girl at the other end of the line said the only thing they could help me with was helping me find a local authorize dealer. which is what i had already done!! The repair guy told me a display panek shortage is a parts and pieces defect nothing i played a part in, now why do i have to pay $1000? Not even a year and it blew a lamp but was replaced under warranty. Now, of course no more warranty, 5 vertical lines of 5 columns appear with picture of whatever Im watching in the background and snowy reception. Ive paid 3000 for this set and called Samsung and referred me to a TV repairman. I paid $3K for this set on 2005 and I expect a longer life than this. I did not purchase a extended warranty but who would have thought that this so called quality TV would go out in less than three years. I called Samsung to find a service center and was told of only one in my area. I have found that all the repair shops in my area will not touch a Samsung. I called the service recommended by Samsung and left a message since they do not work on the weekends. I am really disappointed in all the reviews I read before purchasing this high priced set. I only wish I had read this sites reviews before buying.
From the sound of all the testimonials about Samsung Televisions, I guess I now have a very expensive door stop.
I will never buy a Samsung product and I will tell as many people I can not to purchase from this company.
I believe what comes around goes around and in this difficult economy Samsung will be forced out of business.
My condolences to all other Samsung owners who are facing this dilema. Okay, the repair people come out and $100.00 dollars later tell us, It's broken. Yes, it is. Thank you. So, then Samsung told us they would extend our parts warranty for thirty days, and would send the part to the repair shop. For thirty days, however, Samsung would not return our calls, and the service shop they recommended also refused to answer or return any calls. So much for the extension. After several more weeks of trying, we got Samsung back on the phone, and they said they would replace the television, but with a different model, for a $300.00 Upgrade fee. Now, again, we cannot get Samsung to call us back with details about how to get the new television, or pay the upgrade fee, etc.. We're just getting the run-around over and over here, and we feel extremely stupid, and taken advantage of. We are not wealthy people, and this is a huge expense for us. At one point, when they promised to replace the television, we looked online to check out the model they offered us, and there was an online review by another customer, that has had an almost identical experience with the same television. A couple months out of warranty, an extremely expensive piece of equipment breaks, and the service department just gives you the run-around. The television was a new model, so it's not like we could've read reviews of the product prior to our purchase, so, we just don't know where to go from here. It may be worth mentioning, that we have no kids, pets, or any other situation that put any undue stress on the equipment. I can't imagine that a company can sell such an expensive product, built to break down so soon, and get away with it like this. I called the extended warranty, thank goodness I got the extra warranty, and he said that the engine was gone again and he would have to order one. He came back a week later and when he went to replace the engine, he noticed the power system was burned up and that made the engine go bad again. He had to order that part and came back another week later and replaced the engine and the power system. He said that the first repairman did not notice the power system was bad. Well, that should have ended it but now the people have splotches of green moving on their faces and skin and the background is moving again. The picture gets bright and then dims. The TV locks up and just stays on one picture for several seconds before it goes on. It is not just on the dish I have, it is also doing that on the DVR that I have taped programs on. The picture is fuzzy and people look funny. I have called the warranty company again and the same repairman is coming back because he has a 30 day warranty on his work. He is very rude and told me that if I had any adjustments that I wanted him to do to do it then because he was not coming back. I am very upset with this TV and think I should get a replacement TV since this is such a lemon. Three times in 13 months is entirely too much. Frank of Flagler Beach, FL February 20, 2008 Frank of Flagler Beach FL (02/20/08) Elaine of Eden, NY September 3, 2009 I have a less than 2 year old 46 " LCD HDTV from Samsung and have the same issues with it not turning on, turns off & on, has pink dots all over the screen, seems like every day its getting worse. I did a lot of research and found that there are hundreds of people out there complaining about the same problem, and that samsung has not taken responsibility for the many similar issues. I just want to know if we are all complaining and are experiencing the same problems, why isn't anybody doing anything about it? I am dissappointed & exhausted from reading that these problems are not addressed when you call samsung customer service, so you know what? I will not even bother if I will get the run-a-round like the rest of them. I will just simpply not buy another samsung tv. I am simply hoping that enough people have complained to warrant some action. I saved my money for a very long time to purchase this 46" beauty and cannot afford to purchase another one. John of McMurray, PA September 2, 2009 Bought a 42" DLP. In two months the entire engine stopped working. Had it replaced under warranty. Within a year of the warranty ending, the engine went up again. Repair estimate: 989.00. I only paid 1003 for the TV!! I paid over 1000.00 for the Tv the warranty, and the high dollar surge protector that was recommended, now I call Samsung Customer Care and all they do is refer me to a another high dollar repair man. Robert of bellmore, NY August 26, 2009 I purchased my Samsung 40" LCD LNT- 4061F in June 2007 for 1400. 28,2006. I paid over 3000 include tax and shipping charges. A couple of weeks ago, sounds works but no pictures. I call samsung to get authorize service center near by my home. They charged for travel 35 (0.2mile from my house. Chris of Brook Park, OH August 22, 2009 Purchased a Samsung 40" 720 LCD tv September 29,2006. Final purchase price 2100. Irvin of New York, NY August 22, 2009 Purchase Samsung TV June 06 41" Paid 2700 August 19,2009 Picture went, LCD panel no good.cost to replace 19800. I paid possibly 3.00 every time I turned the TV on and now it will cost me to fix it. My fear is ... that no one is pressing charges against Samsung and forcig them to look at thier faulty product. A recall should be in order. Report Your Experience
