A class-action lawsuit in California charges that the Sony has misrepresented the PlayStation 2 by claiming that it also plays DVDs. The suit charges that many units stop reading DVDs after only a few months of use. Gee, that sounds just like what our readers have been saying. By the way, the problems with Playstation 2 aren't all that new. Playstation 1 wasn't exactly perfect either.

My son was playing the PS 3 on Tuesday night, December 30, 2008. It is the 80 GB model. The machine just cut off during play and has not worked since. The PS3 is in our upstairs bonus room. We tried several times to reset it by unplugging it but it does the same thing everytime. It goes to a green light, the a yellow flashing light and finally a red flashing light. I have researched this online and have learned this appears to be a common problem with several PS3 consoles however there is no fix except to pay 150.00 to Sony for a refurbished replacement console.

The PS3 was purchased on November 16, 2007 online at BestBuy. It has been in use for only a year. I called Sony Customer Service on Jan 1, 2009 and was told my machine is out of warranty and they would send a refurbished replacement for an additional 150.00. It seems as though this is a common problem that needs to be addressed by SONY to fix this apparent overheating problem with several different models of PS3. I spent over 500.00 for this machine, not to mention how many games we have now purchased, that is now useless after only a year.

My playstation 3 got the dreaded yellow light of death while playing a certain game. Apparently its a hardware issue. Its out of warranty and they want to charge 150 to repair it. This is the 2nd time I have to send the ps3 in for repairs

Spending hours on the phone with their customer service listening to all of them even supervisors repeating canned responses. One of them claimed to be the floor/general manager and there was nobody else I could talk to. I spoke with 1 rep, 1 assistant supervisor, and then their supervisor who claimed he was the top guy there.

Santa brought Guitar Hero World Tour PS2 for my son. Our slim model PS2 will not read the disc. I have read on the internet that tons of people are having the same problem. We purchased our game from Amazon.com. We have a sad little boy and are wondering how to proceed. Our friends let us borrow their game to see if it was our disc. Both discs work on their ps2. Neither work on ours.

We also have several other new games that all work on our ps2, so it is not our system. Please advise how we should proceed. Thank you

We purchased a playstation 2 system for our son several years ago and he has enjoyed playing it very much. December of 2008 he asked for two additional PS2 games Guitar hero world tour and rock band 2. When we got them home they both read disc error. We brought our PS2 system and the new games to Game Stop store in Santa Rosa, CA on Stonypoint Road.

The manager chcecked the games and our system and then hooked one of their PS2 systems up. It seems the new PS2 games DO NOT WORK on the PS2 system? As we all know these systems are not cheap. I was told I could not get out cash back since the games had been opened and could only get a gift card/store credit. I think it is criminal to sell PS2 games to kids and not to have them work on their PS2 systems.

107.00 were spent for 2 games now our son had NOTHING to play new on Christmas and we are now saving for another system NOT PLAYSTATION since they are not reliable.
