Gwendolyn of Hackensack, NJ November 8, 2009 I purchased the Vizio 32 plasma in August 2008. The first tv was shipped from Walmart and would power on but couldn't turn the thing off. Picked up a replacement tv within the week. Well here it is November 2009, my tv powered on-off about 15 times before it would stay on. Well needless to say, on November 7th it won't power on at all! Of course, my warranty period expired. Been reading the consumer complaints about this TV and glad to know that I am not crazy! In reading other on-line problems, evidently, there seems to be a problem with the powere supply board. I have a Panasonic plasma that has been working wonderfully for years with no problems. I love the picture quality of the Vizio but am terribly disappointed that after 1 yr and almost 3 months, it stopped working. I paid nearly 600 for this tv. Shame on you Vizio (I went online and found that this 32" plasma tv is no longer being sold by the company)! sherman of stockbridge, GA November 8, 2009 i purchased two VIZIO televisions in late 2007. both at 757.00 a piece at Wal-Mart. the 37'' model..after a year and a half one tv just went out while i was viewing it. i tried to trouble shoot it and thought maybe it was the satellite. after taking everything apart i swapped the tv from my bedroom to the downstairs and realized it was the vizio from the living room that was beoken...what the ????...i am at a lost because i didnt get an extended warranty and cant afford to get the broken one fixed. you would think in this day and age a new fangled apparatus would prove sufficient..NOT!!!!! Give me a 200 pound old relic looking tv anyday. Atleast they could just replace the ''tube'' back then.some one please tell me what to do with a 757 dollar 1.8 year old tv?..shame on Vizio.know the darn thing wouldn't last past 2 years..Shame on vizio period. i purchased two..count them...two 37''models and one is crap, I use to brag about how good they were until now.somebody (vizio are you listening?) come get this junk out of my house!!!! somebody needs to Andrew of San Diego, CA November 6, 2009 So, I am another one to add to the large list of people having problems w/ their Vizio TV. I have the 32" Plasma. Purchased it about 1.5 yers ago. The picture is great. What is not great is that about 1 mo. after the warranty expired the TV would start clicking on-off-on when first powering up the set. Now it clicks on-off-on-off (about 10 times) before it starts up. Seems to be a VERY common problem w/ the power boards on Vizio sets. Yes, class action seems like a good idea. Based upon all of the similar complaints folks have with this same issue...and everyone seems to have the issue RIGHT AFTER waranty expires...seems like Vizio designed it this way? I spent almost 600 on a TV...thing should last longer than 1.5 years. nick of charlevoix, MI November 6, 2009 don't know address etc would need to go through receipt. Original complaint was back on 8/20/09 t.v. screen looks like strobe light flashing, this is my second t.v. as first one went out in 2 weeks. repair people came on 9/18/09 said they could try a new circuit board, weren't sure if it would fix t.v. recently talked to "waca" extended support contract people now supposedly they will replace t.v. or write me a check. they will never call me back they give me a different story every time I call. I get a different person there everytime i call. I had to buy a new t.v. because i have been without one for so long i just want my money back now. it is 11/6/09 now. i was nice when this all went down but i am really angry now. i feel they have taken my money and ran. I paid 899.99 for the t.v. and another 150.00 for the extended warranty contract. this is really really long story i just shortened up. since i had to go out and buy a new t.v. i am out that much more money. i just want what is entitled to me, as stated in the contract " if we can't fix it we'll replace it". this is the most horrible company i have ever dealt with. I repair car's for a living and have my own shop. I couldn't imagine treating my customers like this, as i would be out business. Tyrone of Memphis, TN November 5, 2009 I purchased a GV42L10AFHDTV on 3/15/2008.On 11/03/2009 I heard the dreaded hummmm, followed by the black screen of death. Following the routine of all of you followed, I proceeded to call the 'customer service department' and 'tech support' to be told the same story repeated hundreds of times a day,"No extended warranty? Too bad so sad, thanks for your hundreds of dollars for our substandard products." We as consumers had become so accustomed to products, especially televisions, lasting for decades, that extended warrenties to us were at best a waste of hard earned cash. Welcome to reality. After all the underhanded tricks observed over the past couple of years by corporate America, are we really susprised that these type of companies exist? Now I, along with the hundreds if not thousands of you, blog to warn the unsuspecting (not really)masses looking for the best value for the buck, stuck with a load of garbage. But we will not go quietly. We will tell everyone that will listen, that values our opinion, to stay away from this dreaded product. We will purchase with greater care in the future and remember this lesson for the rest of our days. There is no lession like the one you pay for.Vizio will over time disappear into the the haunted vaults of Junk and will slowly draw less heat.Only to be repaced by the next form of junk. Less we forget. Trosky of San Diego, CA November 2, 2009 I purchased a 42" Vizio HDTV in 05/09. The screen began displaying a bright green background in 08/09. I contacted Vizio about this and was told I couldn't be helped. Vizio refused to provide any service to me in order to fix this issue and their customer service dept. did not offer me any options in order to get this issue resolved. I had this TV for only 3 months, I paid 600 for it, and I even sent it to a TV repair shop, which could not fix the green screen. Now, I have no choice but to throw the TV away. Vizio's staff members have not been helpful at all in helping me resolve this issue and they have not been responsive to my concerns. For these reasons, I will never purchase another Vizio product again. 600 that I paid has now gone to waste since this TV is no longer functioning correctly. Marie of Woburn, MA October 30, 2009 I'm having the same trouble with my Vizio 42" tv. I bought it in March 09 and now, October 09, its starting to black out, make that popping sound, but luckily it comes back on. Its been happening more and more, I'm wondering if I should get it checked out before it completely dies? Claudia of Lincoln Park, NJ October 30, 2009 I Purchased a 52" LCD Vizio and loved the picture but after 18 months of use, it made a noise and poof the screen turned charcoal, no sound and no controls work remotely or hard wired. Same stupid stry from Vizio, we sell millions, it's bound to happen to a few. Like another reviewer, it's got to be running close to all of them. And the service they refer you to says the cost is a flat 575. regardless of the part??? DO NOT BUY VIZIO and shame on Costco and Walmart for continuing to sell them. matt of alliance, OH October 30, 2009 bought a 42 inch lcd, and approx., 13 mnths later it was junk. sound but no picture, just like everybody else of diffrent complaint sites. vizio says sorry. my tvs box said ave. life 25 yrs., mine last 13 mnths., false advertising? i also see peole sayin dont blame walmart. after tv died i went in and asked how many tvs [vizio] they get back. sales man told me 5-6 a week! and not to buy 1! walmart knows theres a big problem and continues to sell them, so yes blame walmart. vizio says they have no repair men in my area. when i was talking to him, after it was established i was out of war., he diagonsed my problem instantly, probally power supply! obviously has heard my story before. shame on the bbb for not doing anything. im out 800 on a tv that lasted 13mnths., half that time hdtv flickered. Kaye of Colorado City, CO October 29, 2009 I too would like to join the increasing ranks of consumers complaining about VIZIO LCD HDTV. My 32 inch tv is about two and a half years old and I too have the problem of the tv turning off, a high pitched buzzing sound and a remote that works when it wants to or performing functions not assigned to do; such as trying to change the channel and the remote does something entirely different. If any lawyers out there would like to start a class action against this company, please contact me to join in! I will NEVER recommend this tv or company to anyone I know! No physical damage or physical consequences other than pure frustration and irritation at spending 900.00 for a piece of junk! No wonder America is being outsold by China and Japan!
