traven of rawlins, WY November 9, 2009 i had bought an xbox last year and three months later it got the three red rings of doom. it just happened one day i didnt cause it or anything i sent it off and they just sent it back saying it was physicaly damaged and told me they wont fix it so im switching to playstation permanently. i hate xbox now with a passion. kevin of north augusta , SC November 5, 2009 i bought a 360 on oct 15 2008 and it failed on may of this year the first repair was handled fine and i got a different console in about two to three weeks and about halloween this year the one i have started freezing up. i called xbox today nov 4th and found out the warrantyis expired on the console i got as a replacement wasnt extended for even a month and there is no way of knowing how old this console is or if it was even the new jasper type processors if xbox is just reshuffulling console for turn around time and not extending anyones warranty it just seems like they are just going to make more and more money off of a known problem instead of fixing it. they made a big public gesture by setting aside a billion dollars to fix the problem but if enough people have enough failures which im sure there have been then they arent loosing any money at all they will actually in a screwed up way end up making money. i should have listened to the people telling me to buy ps3. thats what if anything ive learned from all this Danielle of Clairmont, AB November 2, 2009 X Box refused to cancel my subscription last year. I cut up my credit card and did not have the last 4 digits of the card number. Even though I could answer all the rest of the security questions, they still would not cancel my subscription. Not only was I charged that year, but I was also charged the previous year and now they are charging me another year. What a disguisting company, just because they are a major conglomerate they think they can do whatever they want. Mysteriously, Megan does not have a boss, I thought Bill Gates owned Microsoft, but obviously MEGAN does, as she doesn't have any supervisors or managers!! I only used the xbox live once and wasn't satisfied with it at all. Basically I have never used this service, and people I know are only using xbox because they are forced to by the monopoly that xbox has. I will continue to tell everybody I know about the terrible service XBox gives to it's customers. Shelia of Greensboro, AL November 1, 2009 We purchased two XBox 360 gaming bundles, one for each of our sons for christmas. They had the playstations for years then the playstation 2s(which we still have and have had NO problems with) but as our children do, they want the new product on the market. These XBox 360's have been a HUGE waste of our money. I sent one of them off to have it repaired (and had planned to send the other) but after two attempts and 100 plus shipping and handling it still is not working. sandra of bay shore, NY October 30, 2009 instead of charging my bank account 1 charge monthly of 8.68 a month they made 5 charges a month for different amounts, 10/2009-4charges of 679 and one for 13.58. privous months different amounts several charges. 3 calls to company, they denied charges and refused to refund account and to halt future charges. they said to dispute it with the bank. this went on since feb of 2009 and i've been very sick battling cancer. i speak with a prothesis, i have no voice. well over 300 worth of unauthorized charges to my bank account. battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, this stress only adds to my poor health Joshua of Vancouver, WA October 28, 2009 Bought the Xbox as soon as it released and played it quite some time without issue. Finally got the 3 flashing red lights (Red Ring of Death) and sent it in for a free fix. Returned pretty quickly but recently, 1 year later, it had the same error that was supposed to be fixed. I also realized it was a completely different xbox than the one I purchased. Now they want me to pay for the same faulty issue that shouldn't happen in the firsty place! How can they give me a different xbox than the one I purchased without asking? It's like getting a different car back at a repair shop instead of the one you wanted fixed and being told you have to deal with the problems it has and pay for them too. Most likely this will cost 99 and will limit access to many other entertainment choices we usually rely on the xbox for. rich of cottonwood , CA October 27, 2009 3rd xbox360 same problem 3 blinking red lights of death.they wont fix it this time because they say it is no longer under warranty, but when i got my last console back they said they were extending it for an aditional 3 years but they lied its been about a year since i sent it in and they wont fix it not to mension i am allready mad about loss of money with hd dvd they should of recalled that for a blue ray change over but screwed on that as well. Rhys of Johannesburg, South Africa October 27, 2009 Microsoft, and to whom it may concern. I feel the need to write to you concerning my Xbox experience. I have enjoyed the Xbox Experience all the while it has worked. Unfortunately, that is not too often. I have just recently had my third 360 die due to the now infamous Red Ring hardware failure. I am now considering whether or not it is worth my time and money to purchase yet another console, considering that I can deduce, from experience, that the new 360 will probably not live out the next year. I ‘jumped in’ and purchased my first 360 Pro System while living in Australia in mid 2006. In early 2008 I left the country for the UK. A few months after arriving, my 360 red ringed. I phoned up the Microsoft Service Centre and they kindly offered to replace it free of charge despite me having bought the console in Australia. They sent out a courier who informed me it would be back within ten days. True to their word, ten days later I received a ‘repaired’ 360. Excited with the ease of it all, I plugged it in excitedly and it red ringed right off the mark, an hour after receiving it. I returned it to the Service Centre the following day with the same courier. Ten days after that I received another ‘repaired’ console. This third 360 worked, however, not trusting the hardware I sold it and paid some extra money to purchase an Elite console having read that it was almost impossible to get the red ring failure with the new chipsets. I then moved to South Africa to study, where I am currently residing. Two months after being here my Elite began to show graphical glitches and stall frequently. A few days later it red ringed. Upon enquiry I was told that Microsoft no longer repair red ringed 360’s in South Africa. Wanting to jump back in to gaming I then took my console to an unofficial repair centre, where they tried to repair my 360. Unfortunately, after having the console for two weeks, they were unable to do so, but in the process of trying, obviously voided the security seal. I am now left with a broken 360 and no way of repairing it, which means I must consider purchasing a new console. Were I to do this, I could still not play my arcade games from my Elite’s hard drive due to the fact that you can only use the transfer licensing tool once a year. Last October I had to use it to move the licenses to my Elite. In addition to that, because I am in a country without abundant internet facilities, I am unable to play the ten or so Arcade games I have paid for nor any of the downloadable content I have purchased for other games because I am not permanently logged in to Xbox Live. All of my arcade games revert to trial versions, some videos I have downloaded cannot be watched, and I cannot even use my ipod because the ipod support download does not register offline. I am fortunate enough to own a PS3 and a Wii, neither of which have given me any problems and both of which I can play downloaded content offline. Six consoles, two are not 360s. I have honestly never had so much trouble with a product in my entire life. If you ever wonder why people might move to another console, or choose another over the 360, these are the reasons. The Xbox 360 is a marvelous console with brilliant online features and some incredible games. Unfortunately, with having to replace my 360 on average, once a year, those features no longer seem worth it and I no longer recommend the machine to anyone. It would be simply unfortunate if I were the only case, however that is not so. A recent survey of 5000 Xbox 360 consoles put the failure rate at 54.6%. Unfortunate? Yes, but also unacceptable. This is the Xbox experience. Jump in? I think it’s time to get out. Kurt of Phoenix, AZ October 26, 2009 I wanted to procure the downloadable content (DLC) for the game "Fallout 3", for the PC. I do not own an XBox. After some effort and a reinstall, I managed to get the "LIVE" software to work. It redirected me to xboxlive.com as the site to obtain "Microsoft points". I was thus able to look up "Fallout 3"'s entry and determine that there were 5 (five) DLC's with a price of 4k (four thousand) "Microsoft points". To obtain these "Microsoft points", I created a LIVE ID and spent US50 over the span of approx 1hr. In short order I had purchased all 5 items via xboxlive.com , as I had been redirected there, in good faith that MS would allow me to use them on the PC as well - but was unable to download them to my PC. The following morning, I called LIVE technical support and was informed that I had purchased the XBox version of the DLC's and that no cross-over between PC and XBox existed. I asked if I might get the points back so I could purchase the PC content, instead. I was told that it was possible as a "one-time in your life" type of resolution, so I patiently waited. Two weeks later, I was told that I was not going to be able to receive a refund of points - not because I had made the error I had, but because I had purchased so many items (ie: all 5 DLC's) so quickly. In effect, I was refused a refund because I am an avid consumer, which feels wrong to me. US 50, plus time. Dustin of North Olmsted, OH October 21, 2009 I called xbox and let them know that my xbox had the three rings of death. I am 20 years old and I am staring out.I got a printed out hipping label from xbox. I packaged my 360 safely and mailed it UPS. I waited two weeks and finally they said it was repaired and on its way back. When I received the xbox. I opened the box careflly and there was a not stating that my xbox was not repaired and it was being returned to me as is. I called and spoke to them. They told me that they would launch an investigation. I told them that my xob was not tampered with and no i dont know how to miss with it or have the tools. I live with a friend and her family and they have no knowliedge either. They told me that they would send me pics from the repair department. Then my friend called for me and she spoke to A M and she said that they told her about three to five says. I waited five days and no pictures. I then called microsoft and they said I still tampered with them which I truly didn't. They said the damage violated thier repair waranty. Report Your Experience
