Power Cord Recall

David of Knoxville, TN October 20, 2009

My brother bought an Xbox brand new about 3 years ago. Since then it has had the red ring of death twice. The second time was after he gave the system to me. I sent it in to Microsoft (which they no longer pay for the box, by the way - just the shipping) and waited. When I got it back the eject button on the console no longer worked. The only way I can eject the tray is by a selection in the dashboard menu or by the 360 DVD remote.

When I called them, and talked to some Indian guy, I was told I would need to send it back in to get it repaired. They offered no restitution for screwing up the system. Also, I went ahead and bit the bullet, buying the 100 wireless adapter. It was brand new, I've had problems with it from day one. It's not the USB ports on my system, because the wired controller works fine in all of them. However, the wireless adapter has MAJOR connection issues. Their customer care is TERRIBLE and they don't look out for the needs of the consumer.

Defective product on Xbox 360 red error lights.

James of Powell, OH October 20, 2009

Received an XBOX 360 as a gift from my in-laws. Within a year it had the 3 rings of death, so I sent it in. Within a month it had the 3 rings of death again, so I sent it back. Another few months and again it had the 3 rings of death. Sent it back a 3rd time, this time the unit lasted about a year until it had an E71 error. Found out that the warranty was out for this type of repair, and that it would cost me 99 plus 20 s&h to get it fixed.

At this point I do not feel it is worth the money. You can't tell me that all of the shipping back and forth did not decrease the life of the box. Very unhappy with Microsofts lack of quality in this product, and in the repairs. Box was on a shelf the entire time it was in use.

red ring of death....unable to use xbox 360

Chris of Nanaimo, BC October 17, 2009

I purchased the Microsoft 360 Game Box in early 2006 and had not used it very much only to find that it would not work because of the fatal 3 light error. They have extended their warranty to 3 years but mine has expired and they want to charge me 129 for them to fix it. I feel I should not have to pay for it because it is a manufacture's defect. The game unit is no good and worthy only for the garbage can. I would sign and be part of any applicable class action suits that are existing against Microsoft.

Justin of Trafalgar, IN October 15, 2009

I got an Xbox 360 elite on Christmas of 2007. In June of 2008 my disc drive quite working. Microsoft said "since i still have a warranty they will fix the problem. which they did, for a while. Just of May this year my elite AGAIN quit reading discs. It was Not Because I keep my Elite poorly ventilated or i keep poor care of my games. So i called Customer Services. Which now they have a computer doing the talking. So i kept saying assistance and i finally got to talk to a real person.

So since my Warranty currently ran up, they were going to make me spend 100 or so dollars just to send it out and fix the problem they were suppose to fix before? At first i started arguing with them saying "not even a year ago i sent my xbox into you guys to fix it, and you guys didnt extend my warranty? i was so confused and P/Oed. so finally I talked to them about the red ring and apparently now they fix xbox's with a red ring for free. which to this day makes no since to me.

I Still haven't sent my xbox into Microsoft. But knowing the fact that even when your warranty is expired you can easily fry your xbox to get the red rings and they will fix it for free. so to all of you people who have the same problem i do. theres a quick fixation. and if your not satisfied with that then i would recommend to get a new console cause they are built better.

i bought my brother an xbox360 in 07 and have had it repaired last year. this is the second time it has had the 3 rings problem. this is rediculous, for the amount of money it costs to buy the damned thing, it should work. especially after having it repaired. why wont anyone do something? is everyone going to sit around and let this corporate vampire take advantage of loyal customers? when i try to contact the repair center to get it repaired again there is always some kind of problem with live accounts and the state/province tab on the web site, and i wont even tell you about the phone calls i made. they do not know what they are doing.this is not fair to pay so much for a piece of faulty equipment.

Matthew of Staten Island, NY October 14, 2009

I tried calling about thier faultly drive in my xbox360 and all i got was a machine and no person at all. I know they are a huge company but for higher level techincal support you need a person and the fact that they dont have a person does not help people in need of higher level techinical support.

They did not help me at all. They just made me angrier and i will never buy another microsoft product for as long as i live.

I now have to find a place to repair it and i have to pay for the parts which are very expensive.

Eric of grand junction, CO October 14, 2009

I have never had a worse customer service experience than dealing with xbox live support. Starting in Nov 2008 I was paying 7.99 a month for xbox live. In March 2009 I paid 49.99 for a gold membership, however, the 7.99 charges continued to be billed to my account. I didn't catch these charges until September, which was my fault. Once I caught them I called Microsoft at which point they said there is nothing they can do about the charges other than cancel my account. Which I think is ridiculous because I double paid for xbox live and they refused to refund the monthly charges. Then in October (this month) I was charged 7.99 AGAIN! I called them up and they tried to tell me that you get billed for xbox live the month AFTER you use it, like its a cellphone bill. I know this is BS because I paid 7.99 when I opened the account. So are they saying they actually charge you 15.98 for the first month, then 7.99 after that? After switching over from Apple and Sony products to Microsoft, I will soon be switching my loyalty back to Apple and Sony. I've already sold my xbox for a PS3. I will NEVER do business with Microsoft again. I cannot believe a such a large company would throw away a loyal customer over a 7.99 charge.

kyle of Tempe, AZ October 13, 2009

My Xbox 360 just stopped working after i played it for 5 minutes and then it would not work again. It gave me 2 red lights. It is broked and im out 300 some odd dollars.
