Finding the right house and the right price in the right location isn't easy but it's something most of us do just a few times in a lifetime. Keeping the place from falling apart is something else again, and making improvements can be even more daunting. Nevertheless, most homeowners at one time or another get the urge to add a room or two, finish the basement or maybe build a deck or a pool. It can be great fun and can do a lot for the resale value. But it can also cause a lot of expense and irritation ... or worse.
