Amana Appliances

Brenda of Moultrie, GA November 26, 2008

We purchased an Amana Electric stove about 3 years ago. The first year and every year after that we have had to replace the same part (the touch pad). Also it has a burnt spot on the top of the oven door, which happened the first year we had it. We are very dissatisfied with this product and can't get anyone at Amana to cooperate in getting answers to this problem. We think we have a lemon and would like for them to replace the oven.We also have an Amana refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher with no problems. Just the oven has been a problem. Please help. Thanks!

I purchased a Amana refrigerator with a bottom load freezer in August of 2006. My first month of owning the refrigerator the ice maker quit working and a repair man was called out on 2 different occasions. The ice maker worked for probably 2-4 more months and has since quit working again. I just started buying bags of ice after that.

Now to my dismay, as of November 18, 2008 the refrigerator and freezer have both quit working! Who would think that an appliance that is 2 years old would quit working. I have to call a service tech to come out to determine the problem but after reading all of the responses I'm convinced its the compressor. I am so mad as I paid 700.00 for this piece of trash. Money is way to hard to come by and we should be able to file a law suit against Amana for selling trash and not standing by their product. As a consumer, I feel like I have been robbed!

my neighbor's Amana Big Oven nearly burned her house down during the self cleaning cycle. The inside of the door melted, the door shows burn marks; even the knobs melted. Why am I writing this for her? She is busy airing out her house in 25 degree weather so the family can go to sleep safely. Did I mention that this product was recalled in 2001 for emitting carbon monoxide during self clean and broil settings but she never heard a thing from Amana? When she called Sears (place of purchase) they told her it was an old oven and they couldn't do anything for her. Maybe they can send someone out in a couple of days?

Bought a refrigerator6/15/2005, delivered 7/21/2005. 7/30/2006 had water leaking on floor, service people decided thr drain was pluged and not repairable. After many phone calls unit replaced on 8/16/2006. On 6/30/2008 ice maker froze up(did not replace due to high cost of service & parts). On 11/16/2008 unit making very loud noise all day (very loud).

This morning noise level reduced 75% but still loud. I feel this unit is going to quit very soon and feel 27 months is not an expected life for a refrigerator but do not know what recorse I have. I do not want to spend any more money on this unit because my history with this model has been so bad. Model #ATB2132ARQ. Can Amana do anything for me to resolve this problem?

We have a glass-top stove & oven combo by Amana that has never worked correctly from the time we purchased it. It never had a low setting so whenever we tried to warm food, it would boil over. When we realized that the unit was faulty, we contacted Amana and a repairman came out to service the stove under warranty. Unfortunately it only worked correctly for a short time. WHen I contacted Amana again about the problem, they told me the stove was no longer under warranty and I would have to pay to have a repairman fix it.

And most recently the bottom element in the oven stopped working. WHen I tried to pull the oven out from the wall, I discovered that the glass front panel is just attached with double-sided tape, and lifting up on the front handle caused the panel to explode. Literally. I have no idea what it will cost to repair, but I am guessing it would not be too much more money to just buy a different brand unit.

This oven cost 800 when I got it and I really felt that was going to get me a quality piece of equipment. I was so wrong. As I told the rep. when we discussed the bad burners, next time I will choose to buy an import product instead. I have zero faith in any brand connected to Amana. I went to Amana because of past experience and reputation, and clearly they have no interest in living up to it now.
