The complaints below are just a few of the pages of anguished tales we've received from Blue Haven customers. If you are even thinking of building a pool, you owe it to yourself to read and ponder these accounts ... and to read the advice of a former pool salesman.
Mauricio of Los Angeles CA (05/22/08) when i called to tell them that my spa controls dont work they told how shut it down and they will send some one well they never did and now its out of warrenty
Michael of Madison, AL May 21, 2008
Michael of Madison AL (05/21/08) was quoted prices, I then placed orders and when the items came it was incorrect and they couldn't sell the items for the prices quoted, I returned the order it was incomplete
I still haven't received my refund and the time they have set me back about 3 weeks on opening my pool Janet of Coral Springs, FL May 21, 2008
Janet of Coral Springs FL (05/21/08) We had our pool built in 2003 by Blue Haven Pools & Spas in Deerfield Beach. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE THAT WAS! First of all it took them 8 months to finish our pool. Keith sold us on the wonderful in floor system from Paramount to help keep the bottom of the pool clean. That system has leaked from day one along with the spa light, a beam crack near the steps, skimmer box which was put in the shallow end instead of the deep end of the pool.
We have replaced the pool pump 4 times in 4 years, 3 spa motors, 1 chlorine cell and the plumbing for the pool was totally redone because the water flow was not right causing high pressure readings. The pool pump was not large enough to handle and 18,000 gallon pool. We have had the coping replaced half way around the pool because it was hollow underneath and leaking. We have had florida leak locators come out and find the leaks and do some of the repairs at our expense.
Now we have to have the in floor systems taken out or bypassed which involves draining the pool, chipping the pop ups out and diamond brite work. We are talking big big money hear, like paying almost 40,000 for this lousy pool wasn't enough. I notified Christine in the West Palm Beach office and she made us sign a new agreement stating they would only cover STRUCTURAL problems to the pool and nothing else for one year 10/08 it expires. We originally had a contract that stated the pool was gauranteed not to leak for the life of the pool as long as we remained original owners of that pool. Christine said take or leave it that is what we offer, we are doing you a favor by even speaking to you . This office is not obligated to cover the work of the Deerfield Beach office.
I told her that the West Palm Beach office's address and name are on my original contract not Deerfield Beach, I was told by Deerfield that the WPB address was being used because there was nobody licenced officially in the Deerfield Beach office yet. They were waiting for someone to pass the exam.... WPB denies any of those allegations and is sticking to their offer.
Well needless to say the work I am having done is not covered under THEIR DEFINITION OF STRUCTURAL. I assumed if the pool is leaking that is structural . It just doesn't make any sense. It's just fast talking to get out of their obligations here. SO WORD TO THE WISE STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. 85 COMPLAINTS REGISTERED WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN BROWARD/WEST PALM BEACH ALONE. Blue Haven even made it to the Chanel 6 news here in south florida because all the complaints registered with the BBB through up a red flag. So the consumer does have some power.
I am currently getting estimates on draining the pool, removing the in floor pop ups, diamond brite and refilling this 18,000 gallon pool. Blue Haven won't touch it, they claim it is not structural by their definition. Structural being only cracks and leaks in the diamond brite. All at my expense. Al of Potomac, MD May 19, 2008
Al of Potomac MD (05/19/08) I met the sales people in my office on 3/13, 2008 and agreed to buy from them I provided a 5000 deposit. The understanding was that Blue Haven would wait to hear from my bank prior to depositing the check due to the fact that I was using a construction loan to pay for it and that they would go ahead and run my permits.
I left for a family vacation upon my return 1 month later nothing had been done I sent an email to the sales Manager, Mike G my primary point of contact and explained to him that I was disappointed that they had done nothing and given that fact I was going to look elsewhere for my pool. I also looked on the County permit offices web site and saw that no permit had ever been filed on my behalf by Blue Haven.
At this point Blue Haven had still not cashed my check. Mike called me and was very apologetic tried to blame Mr. T the sales person on the job and the individual who signed my contract on March 13, but said he would take care of the deposit return. On May 2, I received a call from my bank who indicated that my account was overdrawn and that I was being charged for several returned checks. I logged into my account and was stunned to see that Blue Haven had gone ahead and cashed the check, without telling me two days after my emails and conversations with Mr. G on April 11, 2008.
Needless to say I would consider this to be a deceptive business practice. I could have after all put a stop payment on the check when I corresponded with Mike but took his word for it when he told me he would arrange for its return.
On May 6, 2008 I called Blue Haven and spoke to their accounting group who said they would arrange for the return of my check in the Friday May 10 check run. I thanked her sent her an email of my entire correspondence with Mr. Greene and assumed all would be fine.
To this day Monday May 19, 2008 I have tried on several occasions to phone Patrick L the GM of the Blue Haven office in Manassas, VA but he has not responded to any of my voice mails. I have been told by accounting that they intend on exercising the three day cancel clause of my contract and have no intention of returning my deposit and that a letter has been sent
Shirley of Coral Springs, FL April 29, 2008
Shirley of Coral Springs FL (04/29/08) I am having a nightmare with Blue Haven Pools. My pool was finished in approx March 2003. The Blue Haven office I dealt with was in Deerfield Beach, Florida which is no longer there. I have had previously problems with my pool and getting results has been horrible. I now suspect that I have another leak and I have cracked and some loose coping. I called Blue Haven in Boca/Delray area(I live in Coral Springs-Broward County)and when I told them my problem, Christine in the service department said, that aint my problem, we did not build your pool and the Deerfield Beach franchise is closed, so GET AN ATTORNEY and hung up.
This is a terrible attitude and it's not the first time I've had this problem. I believe I emailed you all about a year ago when my pool was leaking then and you all helped me get it resolved. When I contracted with Blue Haven I did because they said it was a national company and I felt protected if I ever had problems. But, I don't feel that way anymore. Any help you can rendered in resolving this MAJOR problem would be greatly appreciated.
Current pool leak and cracked and loose coping Steve of Pearland, TX April 22, 2008
