Blue Haven Pools

The complaints below are just a few of the pages of anguished tales we've received from Blue Haven customers. If you are even thinking of building a pool, you owe it to yourself to read and ponder these accounts ... and to read the advice of a former pool salesman.

Steve of Pearland TX (04/22/08)
I purchased a pool from Blue Haven in Nov. 2007. For the most part, they were on time with each phase of the construction and completed it in a timely mannar. However, they turned a good part of my yard into an 1880's Cattle Trail. Somewhere in the contract, it states that the yard will be damaged due to the equipment. I've talked with other pool owners and have been told that other companies fix the yard at their expense or put plywood or other similar coverings over the yard to prevent extensive damage. Well, don't expect Blue Haven to do this. I spent almost a thousand bucks having my yard re-sodded after they tore it up. Had they told me up front this would happen, I probably would have done business with another company.

My wife and I also picked out some stone that goes around the coping of the pool. The stone we picked out is called flagstone. In less than four months, this stuff is literally falling off in chunks into my pool. I'm sure the filter system is going to benefit from this. I called Blue Haven and they finally got a guy to our house to look at it. I was told that this flagstone may be a bad batch He told me that he could sand it down and seal it but would need to talk with Blue Haven. Well, this has been two weeks and I've yet to hear from them. I called their office on April 21st and did not receive a call back. This flagstone is more like sandstone as it literally crumbles in your hand as you break it off in chunks. I've actually stubbed my toe on a portion of the stone that has deteriored!

All these problems in less than 4 months and it's not even Summer yet. I'm thinking this stuff will be as thin as bacon strips by end of summer in Houston, Tx. Be very careful when selecting a pool contractor. Just because these folks have been in business since 1954 doesn't mean they are proficient.

The flagstone is literally falling off in chunks in my new pool. Why a company would recommend stone that crumbles in your hand is beyond my comprehension. I expect the stone replaced and a different, more durable material put in it's place.

Signed contract in October of 2005; Still not finished. Sent documentation and complaints to Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Division in Virginia & West Virginia. Blue Haven Pools wouldn't even respond to them. Therefore they couln't even help us. Every negative thing you read about this company is all true. We can relate to every complaint and then some. Run like hell when you hear there name.

This site saved me. I confrontedRipley with my concern. My first impulse was to cancel our Sunday appointment, but he convinced me that it was a ploy by a competitor. He then faxed me copies of licenses, insurance, references etc. On Saturday, I worked and could not use my cellphone. After work I had at least four voice mails irate about not getting back to him. He told me he decided to make another appointment and was a jerk about the fact that I had not gotten back to him. I did return his call about 5:00 pm and left a voice mail. He never called until this morning, and I was barraged with his rude behavior and conduct. I tried to talk it over with him to explain my situation, and he hung up. Actually, it was the only good thing he did. Again I was saved from the fact many others have endured.

Never before have I been so insulted and attacked by a customer service rep.

They abuse and treat employees (certain employees) terribly. They like the ones who brownie up and make up stories. They get rid of people who work hard for little pay. And keep people who brownie up and do nothing.

The cement work around the pool began to crack 14 months after Blue Haven completed the job.

I contacted them and was told it was two months past the warranty.  Who would ever expect a huge crack in your cement work 14 months after spending 45,000 for the pool.

It looks very unattractive and guests wonder why it was never fixed.
