The next day, the installers came. They were a little bit shabby dressed and listening to rock music the whole time they installed the cabinets. But they did a wonderful job. You can tell how skillful they were. They put everything on the wall then packed up and cleaned up everything after themselves. They were nice and quick. I had them install seven garage cabinets for me from wall to wall, and the quality is excellent. It's what I paid for. I bought the budget cabinets and still, they were wonderful.

After one year or so that they installed this to me, I needed an extra shelf. I made a phone call to Closet World and they immediately responded. I was thinking they were not even gonna know who I am. But everything was on the system. Calling their 800 number, it took a hell time to reach the correct person but I was able to reach them and they immediately referred me to the local person's phone number. Another nice guy, Joe, made sure my shelves were done in 48 hours. I went, picked it up and it was a perfect fit. If I ever do another closet, I'm calling Closet World again. Overall, any interaction with them I had was excellent. There were a lot of text messages and emails to follow-up as well.

The installer that Closet World sent out was truly like a master craftsman. I was blown away by his work. He patiently went through it and built it all. It took all day until 6:00 at night. We had zero disappointment. We were so amazed with this guy's work. I saw what he came in with. It wasn't that everything was cut to size. He was there measuring, cutting everything exactly to size, and the install turned out beautiful. I was impressed with the level of detail that the consultant put in the notes. It was all based off her notes and she marked it down perfectly. There were some unique elements to how our closet was laid out, where we have outlets. She did a fantastic job and the installer matched the quality of her work as well. I was very pleased with the whole experience.

The designer was awesome. Her name was Sophie, and she had an engineering degree. It was a perfect experience. She let me be there when I wanted to ask questions. When I was done, I let her work independently. She did all the drafting by hand, which was impressive. I couldn't have been happier with it. Also, the installers were amazing. I felt comfortable from the second I let them in. I said, “You guys do your thing. We just redid all the door moldings so please be careful with that.” They said, "Yeah, of course, of course.” I could tell I was in good hands with the install, and those guys were perfectionists. They worked all day but got it done and were happy to be there. I walked back over there and checked on how they were doing, if they needed anything, and they were awesome.

There are three, smaller walk-in closets. You can walk in and do a 360 but you can't do a full song and dance. We did all three of them, have shelving, long hanging, short hanging. We elected to do the drawers, and it's on all three walls for all of them. They're all roughly the same size, basic white with the soft edge upgrade, and chrome handles, and it looks gorgeous. Closet World had beautiful upgrades as well. They have the molding and fancy knobs.

The installer had to come back out again. I had to take time off work for that, because he can't come on weekends. And while he was there, it got installed differently than what his supervisor told me. It was bizarre. He took it all apart, but didn't have the pieces to do it again correctly. He ended up reusing some of the particle board that already had screw holes and chips in it. So, it came out subpar.

The supervisor contacted me to see if I was happy. I said I wasn't. I sent him photos of the things I described. The things weren't flush. There were scratches. I spent a lot of money on it. His solution was he could have the person come out again to replace the damaged pieces. But that's not a solution. That means I have to take time off work again. They also made a big mess, so I had to clean up all the saw dust. I used my balcony to saw the wood, and I had to clean it up. I don't want to do that. I haven't told Closet World I don't want to do that. I prefer a refund, because they did a shitty job. But the guy will not offer me that. It's almost a franchise, and he's the person that gets to decide what happens with his employee's work. The installer is a very nice person. It's not his fault that things didn't go well. His supervisor is also very nice. They were both nice to work with, but it didn't work out. They did not give me the results that I want.

When the installers came in, there were some screws that, whoever packed, didn't put them in there. They stopped, went out to shop, got them, came back, and finished the job. So I was really glad about that. Whatever needed to be done and whatever happened, they'd fix it. That was what I got from these people. So they're just top-notch. They were like a well-oiled machine. They also went the extra mile on the handles, on me as a senior, and on a mistake they made. But they made good on it when the worker bees were saying, "Oh, well, that's too bad. Those things just happen." That was great because when you're remodeling and stuff, things always happen. They know how to really rock and they did in every single issue. I had a couple of issues and they were totally resolved. And the issues came from lower down the scope.

I wanted the Murphy bed because it looked like a big, beautiful cabinet. It's right in my living room, so I didn't want anything that looked like a bed, and this doesn't. It goes with living room furniture and the design and quality of this stuff is really high-end. I was really surprised to see the mattress. I was expecting some cheap thing that they stuffed in there but it's really a good mattress and that thrilled me.

For projects of this scale, measurements, designs, and documentation should be fully reviewed and validated before customer approvals are requested. I hope management reviews these process gaps, as stronger oversight and planning would better reflect the company’s reputation. Additionally, a friend who was considering Closet World for his own home project observed part of the process, and unfortunately the experience did not create confidence to proceed or recommend the service further.

The customer service was very good, too. I received several phone calls just to make sure everything was on track. The price was average. I found cheaper options, but the materials were probably cheaper, too. I also found more expensive ones with slightly higher-end products. For what you get, Closet World’s quality was right on.
